View Full Version : Who is Serah?

Shiranui Reborn

"It was Serah. She saved us!" - guy (Snow?)
"Serah? Maybe you forgot, but thanks to you, Serah's..." - girl (no idea which character)

I don't speak japanese so yeah... I rock the subtitles.

Most likely, unless there's some sort of a weird twist, Serah is a girl character that might or might not be dead, injured, lost, etc. by the time of the events in the trailer from last weekend.

Either way, I'm not really matching up the words with what is going in the background. Because a whole bunch of those panthers and this big light saber wielding monster materialized out of this blue portal like water with like digital pond scum cubes around them one of which lands on top of rebel. Neither of these look friendly and the characters are seen fighting them so I don't understand how they were saved.

We dont know really what/who is Serah. If you want to know more about Serah talk to Blank.

Some people think that Serah is a weird monster shown at some scans and another think that is a race.

Disclaimer: I don't speak/read Japanese and I'm not privvy to any inside information, but here's my best guess:

1. The fal'Cie are elemental spirits or gods.

2. They can physically manifest themselves or their power in the form of "Summons" and/or creatures/objects (e.g. Snow's motorcycle)

3. The fal'Cie are the FFXIII equivalent of Aeons/Guardian Forces/Summons etc. from past FF games.

4. Lightning, Snow, and Vanille are chosen servants and under the protection of the fal'Cie.

5. Those watery wolf-like creatures were a sort of "Summons" from the fal'Cie named Serah, sent to bail Lighting/Snow and the gang out of a hopeless battle.

----------------------------------------------------------------

I'm guessing the fal'Cie are an evolution of the GF (Guardian Force) from FF8 with the character of the Occurians/Undying in FFXII.

I also believe their motives are similar to the Occurians/Undying from FFXII in that they are fighting for the right to steer mankind's destiny.

Didn't Snow said that the power of a l'Cie saved them and that he thinks it's Serah's power?

hmmm well
the next quote is "That was a l'Cie's power!" which i dont think is referring to the explosion because it was just like a missile or something that started it and anyone can press a button and l'Cie are supposed to be special

i think it refers to the summoning of the monsters which would prob not be good for our protagonists but its really hard to tell who says what and etc

i havent played any FF### games except for V and VI so i dont really know what you're talking about when you talk about FFXII or FVIII

5. but im gonna say that those creatures are not on the protagonists side because they knock out the rebels and fight lightning and snow in most every example of the battle system alongside the weird soldiers with orange eyes

1 and 2. fal'Cie are the aristocrats (special humans "beyond humanity") from what ive gathered who live in Cocoon or whatever and are deff not summons we already saw shiva, ifrit, siren and carbuncle and they dont look human at all

and apparently "nobody" lives on Pulse because its like mad contaminated but that i dont really get that bit

all those people in the trailer were like getting kicked out of cocoon because they had some sort of connection with pulse and they were like no way man so they became rebels and snow, lightning etc are trying to prevent the fal'Cie from putting them back on pulse

3 and 4. the fal'Cie make lightning and all them the l'Cie, and they don't wanna be because l'Cie are those marked for a greater purpose by the fal'Cie who I'm pretty sure at this point in time is like antagonists of this game. some girl says that theyve been cursed and that they are now l'Cie which sounds pretty bad by the tone of the japanese

again this is all my guess and gathering of information based of the trailers and stuff like that dont mean to shut you down or anything....

Well, like everybody's been posting, we don't know, but you already put down my guess.

Serah's only come up in that context and, I believe, in one slightly different one with an extended dialogue that we have an audio rip for but no visual, where Lightning and Snow talk more clearly about Snow's failure to save Serah, and whether or not there's anything that can be done now about whatever disaster has befallen her.

At least now we know the name is spelled like a person's, although we don't reaaaaally have any conclusive proof that she's human I guess.. since we've never seen her or heard her speak. XD;

As for the visuals not seeming to match up with the dialogue, well, they don't. Almost the same conversation gets played with a more matching set of visuals in the extended version, but we don't have it. T_T;

Edit: I think some of your information may have gotten mixed up in your last post.

I imagined the fal'cie to be the 'rulers' of the city and the l'cie to be a sort of outcast/rebel group, and when I saw the trailer I immediately thought Serah was a sort of diety or somebody of higher power (thus having the power to save them) and maybe Snow had done something to get out of favour with Serah.

Or maybe Snow killed Serah(if Serah is indeed mortal) and that is why they're now 'rebels'.

Anyway, those are my thoughts. I can't wait to hear what it really is.

Shiranui Reborn

yeah i was re-watching one of the older trailers with all the summons in it and the game looks like its changed a lot, and i was getting my sources from both that trailer, the newest trailer and wikipedia that might be why its a little humbled-jumbled up and im just generally unorganized haha

but not trying to challenge that statement or anything but what information is mixed up?

What gave you this idea?

it's just the line from the trailer: "thank's to you, Serah's... " I dunno. the first thing that popped into my head was, 'thank's to you, Serah's dead.'

"It was Serah. She saved us!" - guy (Snow?)

probably that haha :P

I thought she was gonna say " Serah's been taken away". Im pretty sure serah isn't dead that would be so pointless.

trudat its probably one of those things were the character falls off into the abyss and survives somehow haha. prob not that cliche but something like that

I don't think the thing about fal'Cie being aristocrats/humans is backed up by anything we've read or seen. The only word I've seen used to describe them is "Sonzai" which just means 'entity,' or 'existing thing'... I'm not entirely clear on whether or not the normal use of the word excludes humans (I think everything that exists can be called Sonzai though).

We don't know whether or not people live in Pulse, but some magazine keeps talking about whether or not Vanille reflects Pulse's culture. You can't have a culture without people. The people in Cocoon don't seem to want to live in Pulse, though. The thing about the contamination I don't think is contamination in the sense of radioactivity/pollution/poison/bad for your health and thusly impossible to live in, but I don't think we really know what it is. It seems to be the reason the people of Cocoon are afraid of it, though.

We don't know if the 'deportees' were ever actually in Pulse, or how they became 'contaminated' by it, I think? I'm not sure on this one, myself. Also, it seems the one trying to put them in Pulse is Sanctum, Cocoon's government, which may or may not have a connection to the fal'Cie.

I think the girl you mention at he end of the post is actually goggles boy, and yeah, he sounds like he's freaking a sh**. XD

^ Maybe the 'contamination' is figurative for being 'free of the Holy Government's control and oversight?'

Maybe what they fear is the destructive potential of human nature if left unchecked?

Maybe the prisoners/rebels were 'contaminated' because they showed too much lack of civility?

OMG. This is starting to sound like a certain Huxley novel!

i didnt really find that aristocrat-ness anywhere its what they feel like to me
i saw another word used to describe them "inscrutable" it was kinda ironic because it meant "impossible to understand or interpret" and we have no idea about them hahaha :P

yeah idk if you played tales of symphonia but the fal'Cie seem a lot like the cruxis organization with mithos
if you havent, basically these guys are angels that try and purify everything to suit their own needs with little regard for the people "below"

and yeah i totally agree with the fear of the unknown thing its like they treat them as if they have a disease though and they need to be sent back down for somehow associating with Pulse it was in one of the trailers with the prisoners or something i think

haha goggles boy i can see how thats a boy now.... kinda haha
they deff should of gave us info on snow's crew instead of sazh who didnt even appear in this trailer

Ya, the 'deportees', I thought, were only being deported because they were the ones who posed a threat to the government. They probably call them 'contaminated' to keep the residents of pulse from knowing they're being totally controlled and to keep them from rebelling. idk, just a thought.

yeah i agree
i think the threat is something to do with Pulse
and i think they just tell the people of Cocoon that they have to do with Pulse which is scary to them so they want them out

Remember the woman in the latest trailer with white hair that appeared to have more detail than the other generic NPCs? I think she may be "Serah." She looked as if she had a more important role than the others.

I wouldn't be surprised if the objective of that mission was to save her, but they were unable to. Vanille is somehow related, so they take her instead.

In the end of the trailer they talking about they are cursed by l'ciel, I think that Serah a be kiddnaped by l'ciel and they make her/(this?) a brainwash? But how said "The 13 days after we awoke, were the beginning of the end." was it Vanilla? But isn't it possible too that Serah are a littlte child?

I'm pretty sure it's Vanille's voice, isn't it? We do hear her a couple other times in the trailer.

Well, Serah, meaing----

a variant of the Jewish word, Sarah, which means "princeses" or "abundance".

In Final Fantasy games, only Sarah I think was a character in Final Fantasy (orinigal), Final Fantasy III (and DS) and Final Fantasy IX.

Maybe, (I just guess) "she" is some high power or something.

Only we can is to wait for more detail of this "Serah".

It could be a race of people. Who knows.^_^

Maybe Serah is the pirate-looking-girl-who-was-in-the-"funeral"-and-have-a-hair-that-remembers-Lightning's? (sorry, no screen)
The first thing I though when I saw the new trailer was "Serah is dead!". Maybe they THINK that she's dead, but she still alive, injured someway... Or in Pulse '-'
