Handheld Remakes

If Square-Enix is going to continue this string of handheld remakes, V must be the last one. I would not like to see VI remade for the DS; it's a "later" FF game at heart, and it deserves a high-quality, fancy remake just as much as FFVII does. In fact, the only real flaw I can think of about VI was that once the World of Ruin began, the plot's momentum sorta just stopped; it was all just "character collection" sidequests. If they were to remake VI, I'd like to see them re-do the World of Ruin.

Anyway, what do you think?

I agree that VI deserves something better graphics-wise than a chibi-fied DS remake. I don't know if that will happen but I'd like it to.


The World of Ruin didn't bother me. All FF's have that point in a game, where the story has nowhere to go other than the final battle and you can either do that or all the sidequests. Disc 4 of FFVIII was almost exactly like the World of Ruin now that I think about it (apart from the fact you didn't have to get each character back individually, thank god). The WoR was a good chance to do some last minute powering-up and get a bit more development into each of the characters, then kick clown-butt.

yeah i was thinking how many more where gonna be made into handheld game, but yeah soon they should stop doing that make the for the bigger consoles cause handheld will get boring. i recon that if VI was made for the DS many people will be dissapointed cause it seems to be really popular amoung ff fans, but i havnt really played it much myself so this is just a guess.

I agree... coz FF VI is one of the greatest RPG game ever created coz of its solid/involving and deep story.. i love to see it in high-quality and hope to play it if ever.. :D

I personally think that it would be interesting to see a remake of FFVI. I'd be all up for it.

At least in my opinnion, FF's should be remade for DS or PSP until they reach FFV. Then If they wanted to continue the remakes, they should remake until FFVII and then stop, yet FFVI and FFVII MUST be seen on PS3.

I'd love to see FFVI for PS3, but I don't think it's gonna happen. I couldn't care less about FFVII though. FFVI first, it really deserves a remake.

FF VI Remake it should be ps3 vers.. It was so great game.. But it would be like a hole new game (like FF VII remake would be too) 'cause graphics are so differents.. (SNES - PS3)

I want FFV for DS and FFVI for PSP or the next nintendo handled console. I think if they remade ffvi for psp or for ps3 they should change completly the gameplay. I cant imagine ffvi´s dated gameplay in advanced consoles like psp and ps3. Really i dont mind, but i know a lot of people who care.

The problem is that FFVI for DS is more rentable than PSP. :(
I really want a FFV remake on ds. I think ffv suits to DS.

The world of ruin is the failer to stop kefka and the empire, and where life and death was the only thing left so each character had to deal with there own problem first to let their past first because they didnt deal with their past first and thats why they failed to stop kefka. If they do a remake I hope they would expand on this not limit it.

On second thought, I don't know if I rally want a remake of FFVII. It's like... From FFVII, all FF games were 3D and everyone loved them so maybe they should only remake the 2D games. After all, it has much more sense.

FFVII hasn't necessarily aged as well as the others.

I definitely want to see FFVI on the PS3, regardless of whether it's ported to 360/Wii/whatever.

As for the World of Ruin and whatever changes they decide to make, I'd probably prefer they leave it as is. While I'd like more story development in WoR and not just side quests and character gathering, I also worry that they'd hurt the game more than help it.

Aside from that, some modernization would be nice. No random battles, an updated ATB (maybe something like XIII), things like that.

I don't really care where V comes out, but if it's on DS I'd probably get that and IV since I haven't played it yet, and a lot of people consider it one of the best FF games. VII will definitely be on a home console though.

. Call me crazy but i prefer vi´s graphics than ffvii´s. VI´s graphics are beautifull 2d and vii´s are rockie 3D.
