View Full Version : Yuna WTF happened XD

LULS at what happened to Yuna's original design. Seriously she got really fucking ugly compared to the original concept, I guess they were trying to make her more asian? And things just kept going downhill for her when X-2 came along :aldo:
The first on is the original concept, and the one on the right is what she really looks like in the game.

Aw.. I don't think she looks.. that bad.. Her face got skinnier, her eyes changed colors, her neck got skinner (I think?), and her skin seems to have gotten slightly lighter. She looks more pop star-ish and less natural. She looks less islander in the final version.
Having stared for a little while, I would have picked the original, too, but I never would have thought to criticize any of those parts of her design had I not seen the original. XD

Yuna will be the best FF ever created despite which concept they used IMO

^ I'm not sure if this is a joke or not. XD
I thought she was adorable though.

I don't think they're different at all. For one, I don't think they're the exact same pose. One was rendered with the intent to be printed or viewed on the web the other was made to be viewed on a television. So from these we can gather that the image on the left uses square pixels, uses a computer color gamut(most likely srgb), and was downloaded from the web thus is in its original quality. The shot from the game was a from a cutscene, thus is was mpeg compressed which each uses an interframe compression(not all frames are individual each frame only shows the differences from the last frame.) and was made for a tv meaning it uses non-square pixels(0.91 for the US and Japan(NTSC), 1.09 for Europe(PAL) and the the red tones were probably pushed down since reds have a tendency to bleed on older tvs. It was also probably captured from the PS2 through a composite cable via capture card which will degrade the quality of the image. It was then taken as a screen grab from an already re-compressed image and then saved as a jpeg which also makes it lose quality.
So what I think is happening is some of her features appear softer do to the lower quality, her skin appears paler to the computer and Tv using different color spaces and do to decreased red tones and her face appears skinnier do to difference in pixel ratios.
But that's just my opinion lol

Hm, I didn't think about that stuff. You learn new things all the time. XD
Buuuuut... if that's the case, why did her lips get more red while her eyes got less red in the pic on the right?
It really looks like they decided she needed more makeup and gave her a makeover. Same character, same basic design, just a little more cute added.

Good point about the lips. Maybe her lips became more red when it was converted from NTSC to sRGB...or they tweak her final design a little bit. She's cute either way and thats all that matters :-D

This is true. XD I already said I would never have noticed had I not seen them side by side.
I also don't really actually understand a word you're saying. I don't know anything about TVs or graphics or displays. XD

Sorry :-) I'm into film making and graphic manipulation so I know a lot of about TVs, and computers and junk. I also have an FF fangame I'm making so I've connected my PS2 to my computer a couple of times to see if I can grab the finger pointer out of one the games lol

The second one is better. It suits better for her personality.

The concept art will differ from that in the game, I assume it's just a shot from the CG ending in the game so you can't really say they are from the exact same moment. Her lips may even be a different way in a different frame.
Can't really say she had changed minus the fact she turned into a whore in the second one where she was barely recognizable.

Holy shit a lot of people posted. I was half expecting to get my head ripped off.
I never really thought Yuna was that pretty (until I saw that early pic of her) and then she looked like a whore in X-2.
Seems like they love to change facial structures for their games, whether they turn out better or worse.
I didn't think the FFX forum was getting enough love, so I posted about something I was aware of for a while :cookie:
And please notice that I said she looks ugly COMPARED to the original art.

Yuna gets it on with her cousin anyway.

^^ She was lonely in X-2, and the only guy that would hit on her whorish ass was her cousin, what do you expect :aldo:
I just want to point out that her face got rounder and her features got smaller in the second pic.

I was actually referring to the other cousin. :wtf:
There's a reason why Rikku raged every time Brother made a pass at Yuna.

Ah hell for all we know they were having a threesome together.

Personally i would have opted for Paine and her S&M shit.
But she was punishing Rikku at the time.

I think the orginal Concept in FFX was the best. The new concept in X-2 is great too.

i like yuna but when i looked at the design in 10 it's like:
they could've done something a little different with yuna in terms of her outfit and made her look hotter, but not whorish though, not yet
i wish she was more bitchy

Yuna looked cuter in the 2nd pic.
X-2 was just a big mistake (excluding Paine). That's all i'm saying about it.

Paine was the biggest mistake of them all
Dry, boring and a shameless Auron ripoff with annoying sayings like "turned on" and "hurt".

The biggest mistake was Lulu's pregnancy.
Paine wasn't an Auron rip-off. If anything, she was like Squall with half the emo and better clothes.

I forgot about Lulu's pregnancy, that's the worst indeed
But you can't convince me Paine was a quality character
Her voice acting was almost as lousy as Brother's

I don't like her voice much, but it sure as hell was better than Rikku or Yuna's.
Personally, I prefer "Turned on?" to "Oh poopy". But then again, this game sucks anyway.
For instance, the solution to resolve the conflict of the two factions:
"OMG letz haff a konsert!"

LMAO, so true, this game was a giant waste of potential
Cool idea, terrible execution

Wow. Either way, Yuna looks much prettier and more natural in FFX. Something about her face was really off in X-2. It just didn't look as detailed and looked a little more fake. The facial structure even seems altered...

----Oh, I don't know.... Maybe because two years passed? And this thread's old too.
