For starters you just faulted your own logic since Squall and Tidus have the same designer as Cloud and Lightning.

Secondly, Squall and Tidus are absolutley nothing alike. In fact they're total opposites.

lol and here i thought that some people on this site actuallty knew anything about FFXIII, or even better here i thought that some people on this site was mature enough to have a discussion about things insted of being assholes.. you should take a real close look at the whole atmosphere about Lightning and (if you are smart enough or not just dumb enough) and you will find things that makes these two characters much alike, i'm not saying that they're COMPLETELY the same but SE is trying to make Lightning something like Cloud but a female version!

The names aren't that similar. They're just weather-y, and in FF everyone and their cats got a weather/nature related name - Cloud, Squall, Laguna, Raine, Tidus, Yuna, Lightning, Snow...

Infact Cloud and Snow are more alike 'cause they're both white and fluffy.

Maybe its me thats so fucking retarded that i didnt see this before but SE did really take their most loved character in the whole FF and make a remake of him totally!! I allready knew that they wanted to make a female version of Cloud but just now i realized that even their NAMES are almost the same... i've really never thought about that, i dont know if i'm happy with the whole similar things about this two characters (besides them being of diffrent gender)

And their personality is pretty much alike in many ways, i dont if this is just a way for SE to kinda make sure that they sell big by "remaking" Cloud...

in my personal opinion, cloud and lightning are not even close to being similar.
it seems that the nature of main characters in FF give off this very similar vibe, if you know what i mean.

personally, from the things i have heard and read from the creators and SE conferances, they did infact tried to portray lightning to be a very popular character like cloud was in ff7, but they have said that lightning is more of a quiet character, apart from cloud, and many names of FF characters are based of nature weather occurances.

So I was going to post something smart.

Then I realized it had been moved to off-topic.

Then I realized that the emotional relationship between lightning and cloud was on a level no one would be able to understand unless they delve deep within their psyche to truly comprehend emotions on the level of lost mentality based characteristics. But the question then posed to me was one of utmost sincerity and magnitude, "Would they be able to pull off the relationship goals astounding to this game". My first instinct was to say no, but my heart aches and screams yes. It makes one ponder the true difficulties of life, especially when we are placed in such a dilemma of intentions which had been all but lost in the struggle of one's own memories. A truly marvelous person would be able to help one out of such a dilemma but it would requiore time and effort. Would they be able to re-create such a heart scourging situation inside the game. Perhaps I ask too much, I'm not sure anymore. All I can think of is how Lightnings love will progress.

Then the phone rang and I got LOST IN MY THOUGHTS

I know that i mentioned in the original post that Lightning is a totally remake of Cloud BUT i also mentioned that Lightning being a female version, and with her being a female comes some differences ofcourse that in some way separate her from him... all i was saying really is that FFXIII looks like to be inspired by FFVII in many ways, people really cant read between the lines around here..
