Japanese-based magazine Famitsu has revealed the name of the latest character in the Final Fantasy XIII line-up to the masses – namely, female heroine Dia Walruva. We're detecting a similarity between Walruva and her compatriot Oerba Dia Vanille, as both possess the word Dia in their names. Chances are we can expect further characters to follow the same pattern.
As for the battle system, Famitsu revealed that the entire combat design has been completely streamlined. The mob that you see on screen, is the exact same mob that you will do battle with. On top of this, the transition from exploration to battle is near unnoticeable and quite refreshing.
While both new tidbits of information are welcomed, we're still waiting on a solid release date to show up.

I read this in PSU before and I was thinking if Walruva is her first name. Cuz that just sounds so damn weird :wtf:ROFL. Even if it's not maybe they should name her Chocolate just like what liljc91091 (http://finalfantasy-xiii.net/forums/member.php?u=1693) said :aldo:

Haven't we heard something very similar before? I thought this was Vanille's poorly translated name from a while ago. Before it was actually typed out in English.

This is exactly correct. "Walvura" or whatever is nothing more than a shot in the dark attempt at transliterating "Oerba". Anyone who can read the kana in the name will understand.

Yeah isn't Lightning supposed to have some kind of amnesia at the beginning of the game? That would explain her using the codename 'Lightning' rather than her real name - Dia Walrus or whatever.

I would hope they would not use a name like "Chocolate", but after some odd names, I wouldn't be surprised. :U

Thats a good idea I forgot about Lightning's amnesia so it could be her real name. It could also be that new Asian girls name.
And choclata is funnier :awesome:

The new character name is interesting. The news about the battle system is impressive. Just have to see it now to believe it!

Conversely, it's a DoT spell in Final Fantasy XI.
The amount of idiocy in this thread makes me want to kill myself.

I'm pretty sure it is. Her Japanese name is Vanira Daiya Woruba, basically.
Also, Vanille's "Dia" is pronounced "Daiya" according to the Japanese. The spell is pronounced "Dee-a." No relation unless SE made the English name for Vanille and then changed it in the Japanese. Right.

The problem with Vanira is that it sounds a bit like venereal.

Unfortunately, I think your reference will be lost on most. :(
Seriously, is it just me, or is it like every two or three weeks we hit some kind of vortex; where about half the internet forgets most of the information that they know about FFXIII and feels it necessary to bring up old information like its new again? Weird....

Yes, it happens, and it's annoying, but I'm not sure how to stop it from happening. Since I think the people who post it are 99% people who don't read recent news posts in the first place, I don't think even keeping the main page's summaries up to date will really help. =___=

the 'next name' is just a romanization of Vanille's name, it's the same person.
