New Private Final Fantasy XIII Trailer at Jump Festa

Square-Enix's annual attendance to Jump Festa today is just as predictable as every year. They've brought along their lovable Closed Mega Theater and in it they're showing a brand new Final Fantasy XIII trailer in private. We'll be relying on the scattered trailer descriptions as usual to find out what happened.

Apparently this trailer stars a new male character who has a "shota" like nature. We'll be expecting another feminine character as per usual.
There is supposed to have been new never seen before battle footage with Snow fighting. They're defending the Pigtails girl.

We'll update you when we get more information.

Snow kicks and punches in the fight. Lightning uses both melee and shooting attacks.
The new male character has a funny way of speaking.
The battles are seemless. Imagine running around an FFXII worldmap but the camera and character locking on when in an encounter like FFX.

Lightning working on planning a prison break from where they're being kept; a restraint holding them from entering the main area of the Cocoon?. Lightning is planning it and Snow is taking leadership of the operation

Lightning is in a straight jacket or something. I think this is where it breaks into the original footage when they're on the train and she takes out some of the Cocoon soldiers.

Snow is talking about his ambition to protect Sera and the people of the world but apparently, according to Lightning, Sera has already been captured by the Fal'Cie.

Because of this Lightning belts Snow

Snow: therefore I came to help!

Lightning puts down her fists.

They show the battle here.
The battle is as flashy as it has been previously mentioned in small amounts in interviews etc.
The quickness and motion in the battle is the most furious and heated FF has ever seen. They were thinking along the lines of FF7AC style it seems.

Shows a bit of the command, jumping is in the game as said previously but the writer of the blog says he was unable to tell how it happened.

In the Cocoon there is a warning voice being projected. It was hard to hear what was being said over the noise of the music etc.

Event scene:

Snow and Lightning help someone being taken away by a solider? Snow takes a Bazooka like weapon from a downed Soldier and delivers a counter attack.

Nah, 'guard' has a long sound in it, if I remember correctly. And I think 'rebel' is either 'reberu' or 'reburu'.

Looks like there's going to be another odd name (though not as inherently wrong in every way as Pigtails').

Im not. I love figuring things out for myself. If the actual trailer was shown I'd probably get tired of watching it after like tenth time I , but info, on the other hand, I always seem to add on to it and at times I might be wrong and some times I could be right.

Yeah, you're right. I misread it completely. What レブロかガドー says is

Reburo or Gado. So her name is either Reburo or Gado... that is confusing.

Edit: or maybe it's saying Reburo(?) Gado, as in her last name is definitely Gado but the writer is unsure if Reburo is correct. Man. I really, really don't know what I'm talking about. Beginner Japanese ftw...

I think this game is getting very similar to FF7(which is a good thing), first Nomura said that Lightning is a female version of Cloud, both games have a futuristic background, Aeris was an Ancient/Cetra and the bad guys want her, Vannila is a Serra and bad guys want her too. Just like ffvi and ffvii main chars belong to a rebel group. Returners/Avalanche. :wub:

Also, I'm pretty excited about these new charecters. A woman who looks Asian? And she uses a gun and has a tattoo... she doesn't sound like your typical FF female. And that new guy... when I heard he was black I was worried we'd get another Barret, but from the sounds of it nothing could be further from the truth, he sounds awesome.

It seems allowing Nomura his own game to play with has done wonders.

Most people see it once in CMT. It are quik scenes in the trailer. Imagine you saw the Re: FFXIII trailer once. You can't pause it or slow down, and first look at the big things like characters, places,...
After seeing it you could be able to answer questions like "how much dinosaur like creatures you saw?" or "how much cables were shot at that big green thing?" or how many soldiers where surrounding Lightning?"

I don't think there is anyone who can exactly tell how the battle's worked. Whe can only see it on scans and i can translate the commands: attack, fire, fira, propel enemy into the air and gear.
Whe know that there is a bonus bar and that each action cost Action Points (AP)

I personally think it could be 6.

As for the theorizing, multiple magazines have done it, I believe. I feel like I'd read it a thousand times, about how many of them are L'cie and what their ties are to each other, whether or not being a L'cie makes you an enemy of Lightning, etc.. I remember clearly a magazine bringing up that Snow and Lightning should be enemies because the L'cie are to protect mankind while Lightning is their enemy.
