I dont have a ps3 neither a xbox 360 so i cant say if graphics are good or bad. Are the Final Fantasy XIII´s in game-graphics good. It doesnt look very good for me. Did you noticed that Lightning has a diferent sword?

Rockin! The facial expressions and movements on the versus characters is wwaaaaaay past impressive and far superior to Advent children. The way their mouths move past the teeth is far more convincing than anything I've seen thus far with characters this detailed. This makes me wonder if ACC has been polished up to look that good.

After seeing the new FF XIII and Versus XIII trailers, I just had to register to express my sheer joy. I think that Versus XIII looks absolutely stunning and the whole scenario looks much more interesting, although XIII is quite impressive as well...

Alot of people seem to have liked the Versus trailer over XIII's from what I've read around on the interwebz. I personally liked both trailers equally and can't wait any longer to play the games after watching these trailers over 9000 times. Though, I'm probably more excited more or less due to the confirmation on a 2009 release for both games as well as Versus still being PS3 exclusive.

ok, maybe im just having a seizure but for the versus trailer, in the scene where Noct is fighting the white robbed guy, is the floor water? If you look closely it looks like the floor ripples like some kind of liquid. Maybe its just a thin layer of water over the top of the floor?

I just remembered that developers have said that the pillars behind Noct's throne are the crystals themselves and apperently their true form is still asleep, whatever that means. None of us really know what the crystal is, let alone its true form. And the radio broadcast is talking about a peace treaty. Urg, so much and yet so little information...

The versus Trailer was much better put together than the FFXIII trailer..i can see why it created buzz. It doesnt really show anything new at all, but the way the trailer was presented and the music makes it exciting. IMO the FFXIII trailer had better imagery, and some stuff that hadnt been seen before, and certainly looks more large scale and epic. It interests me more because it just is "Final Fantasy" with airships and summons. But the trailer itself isnt as exciting as the Versus one. Still look forward to both games, wether i get to own both or not.

OMG... FINALLY YAAAAAAAAY!!!!!!! uh...ahem
anyways this is my take on things, o but first I want to say that Versus's realtime visuals look a step or two ahead of XIII's.
Final fantasy XIII: too many rapid scene changing, not enough new footage (is slightly disappointed that we didn't get to see the ponytail man), the music still doesn't match AT ALL, but it had lovely environments, amazing scenery, and it was still awesome trailer for what it was. I wish we could have seen the long haired ladies face atleast and I also wish we could have seen more of Lightning and Snow... And I still can't figure out what the hell Sera is wearing when she is walking by the coffin.
Also loved the dinosaurs (dinosaurs = <3)
Versus XIII: Loved the music to death, loved the way it was put together, extremely impressed with the visuals, just plain epic, except for notis's pointy shoes....I don't like his pointy shoes...hell he just doesn't belong in a suit anyway it looks weird. (Even though his fighting clothes aren't fantastic either)

Yeah, this scene in particular is quite interesting to analyze:

It's kind of hard to tell what Stella's thinking, exactly, before Noct shows up, 'cause she's looking down. It could either be sadness or guilt, but she's clearly not all too pleased with the way things are going.

Noct, likewise, is kind of hard to read - he's showing a mixture of sadness and worry, maybe intentionally, since he seems to have been running away from something. He moves slowly towards Stella, though, with a bit of unsureness in the way he walks and holds himself, so if he was being chased, he probably lost whoever it was.

She runs towards him when she sees him, in a way that makes me think that she sees him as "safe" because he's someone she's met (which kind of suggests bad things are going on), then realizes something with a gasp and stops, as the magic starts to surround her.

Noct takes one more step before stopping with a rather sad-but-disbelieving look on his face.

Stella draws first, eyes seeming unusually moist, with a mixture of sadness and determination. And the rest, we've seen the screenshots of forever.


The most interesting thing to note here, I think, is that neither of them seems to realize that they're enemies until the magic comes up around them, of its own accord.

Which means that it can't be a purely political thing, with each being forced to fight because he's of House Caelum, and she's of House Fleuret. They each know each other's political position, so they wouldn't consider each other as possible allies until the magic sigils showed them that they're on opposite sides, in such a case.


Something tells me that the power of friendship will help them achieve their goal. I presume that is because Nomura really values his friends, or he has none and thus feels the need to emphasise friendship in everything he directs, just to make himself feel better.

Because that would fit right in with the stated theme of "the pain of bonds," right? ;) Versus, from all that's been said, should be more cynical than that, but still keep all the positive stuff in too to make the contrast even greater.

She's a woman; there's a really nice fanart out there that shows her face (which was shown in the TGS trailer).

As for "PS3 Only Worldwide," I'm pretty sure that's just Nomura's way of saying, "Versus is still exclusive and isn't going to tack 'in Japan' onto 'PS3 Only' at any point, so could you stop asking me?" Though simultaneous release is certainly not unappealing... ;)

It's kind of hard to tell what Stella's thinking, exactly, before Noct shows up, 'cause she's looking down. It could either be sadness or guilt, but she's clearly not all too pleased with the way things are going.

Noct, likewise, is kind of hard to read - he's showing a mixture of sadness and worry, maybe intentionally, since he seems to have been running away from something. He moves slowly towards Stella, though, with a bit of unsureness in the way he walks and holds himself, so if he was being chased, he probably lost whoever it was.

She runs towards him when she sees him, in a way that makes me think that she sees him as "safe" because he's someone she's met (which kind of suggests bad things are going on), then realizes something with a gasp and stops, as the magic starts to surround her.

Noct takes one more step before stopping with a rather sad-but-disbelieving look on his face.

Stella draws first, eyes seeming unusually moist, with a mixture of sadness and determination. And the rest, we've seen the screenshots of forever.


The most interesting thing to note here, I think, is that neither of them seems to realize that they're enemies until the magic comes up around them, of its own accord.

Which means that it can't be a purely political thing, with each being forced to fight because he's of House Caelum, and she's of House Fleuret. They each know each other's political position, so they wouldn't consider each other as possible allies until the magic sigils showed them that they're on opposite sides, in such a case.

Hm, I think it would be rather different from that, actually. Noct and Stella very clearly know what they're doing when they face off against each other, and also very clearly don't want to go through with it, yet draw their weapons anyway. If they were being controlled through their own emotions, they wouldn't seem so upset about the fact that they have to fight.

It seems a lot more like there's some kind of duty causing problems here, rather than some kind of control being exerted over either of them. Undesirable duties make for better stories than pure control anyway, in my opinion.

The Versus trailer was epic and the XIII one alright. I am just more excited about Versus.

Now, I think Stella's eyes changes color too. It was blue and when she gets that anrgy expression with that symbol behind of her, it begins changing color.
I think that her family has sent her to retrieve the Crystal from Noctis. But what the meaning of the patterns could be? I think somehow the eye color changes and the patterns are related to the 'Light' they were talking about. It is obvious that Stella doesn't wants to fight Noctis, but probably the Fleuret family tells her to do. Something that I noticed was, that when Stella turns her head behind, the face of the logo zooms in her face. If that face on the logo is the Goddess Etro, could Stella be her or something? It would be really interesting.

Also, the White Robed Man has light blonde hair. And the talking on the radio was saying something about a cold war and talks about the two countries. Not sure though.


Lastly, I wonder the line of the events. Like when he meets his companions, when he meets the WRM, when he fight Stella, etc. I think the party is a flashback after his battle with Stella.

Listen to Karn Evil 9 by Emerson, Lake and Palmer. The song was released a few years before Star Wars, yet there is a section where the Star Wars theme was obviously ripped from it. That is more of an infringement than this.

"Emo" is practically meaningless nowadays. As a description of a character type, it went from referring to someone who is so self-absorbed that they think their minor problems are on par with the world ending to any character who complains at all, regardless of how much merit this complaint has (up to and including very optimistic characters like Zack Fair) - and then devolved from there into a catch-all for anything the person using the term doesn't like.

Noct, of course, is emo because he takes good care of his hair, wears dark colors, and is shy - which means that he must be a loner who pushes everyone away, and therefore a copy of both Cloud and Squall as well as emo. :P Never mind that he clearly places value on relationships with other people and chooses to hang out with a group of normal rough-housing guys, he's an emo boy through and through.

Like in the 2nd car scene, the Glass Guy was pretty much hitting a 100 mph and had an urgent look on his face, and Gun Dude was kinda shouting at him about something. Then we came out, and smoke swithers up from a big building that was most likely Noctis's "house", and hoq he looks at it longingly :cookie:Yep, they dislpayed it perfectly.
I assume something like this happened, Noctis unintentionally let something happen to the crystal and now he's lost most of his powa.(my guess is that he got his butt handed to him by multiple people. Considering he is running away from the building where he meets Stella *who then probably nearly beat him too*) So peeps are probably out to kill him while he's weak, and he needs to reclaim the crystal, so his friends are like "OH SHIT! WE GOTS TO LEAVE TOWN RIGHT FUCKING NOW!"

Crystal?) and Noctis came in with his eyes narrowing, and puts a shield around himself and throws his swords at Cloak Guy/Girl. That scene pretty much made it look like some lucky person found the Crystal~ Noctis looked pissed in that scene

Yeah this is probably where he first gets his ass handed to him, the crystal is probably stolen here, and he is caught off guard and loses most of his power, *not all of it* and the only reason I assume this is because this is a game and you have to start at a lower level.
and something tells me he's also in deep shit with some kind of council of higher ups because he failed to guard the crystal, either way, he panicks and runs away, meets Stella, has a showdown, but escapes that too. Then he gets in his nice car and goes to meet his friend for help, thus starts the beginning of a beautiful quest yaaaay. xD

Well, this is old footage (even though we are just now seeing it), Noctis's eyes still havn't been changed to blue...which I'm still sort of confused about. And I think they mentioned his battle clothes would be changed somewhat, or maybe the clothes change was the suit IDK.
we got scans of Stella and his friend in January this year, I'm assuming we'll get more scans around the same time...at least I hope.
They aren't going to spoil Versus to much, you might get away with piecing together a little bit of plot, and then basic info about each character, but that's probably it... but then again if they pull a KH2 you might know the whole game before it comes out

I know you didn't say anything about XIII having faults in its graphics but from what I've seen and these new scans with the detail in the gameplay and close-ups... they're both practically on par with each other.

The scans are too small to tell much about the character models, really, though the lighting is fantastic. Plus, I think a lot of the thinking that Versus was graphically superior was at least in part a result of the ridiculously-detailed animation - the amount of separate strands in the characters' hair, the movement of the cloth, right down to Noct's shoelaces animating as he moved. The complaints will probably go away once we see XIII actually animating for longer than two seconds at a time, rather than from scans.
