CLOUD Message Preview: Lightning's Artwork Changes Slightly

Dengeki's CLOUD Message releases on the 12th and we're pretty much expecting the same sort of publication as we got last year. This time there won't be a DVD but there are a few interviews which might make up for it. Dengeki has opened a preview site for the book which shows a few small shots of the pages we'll be seeing.

The Final Fantasy XIII preview shows artwork we've seen before but it seems Lightning's has been changed slightly. Maybe this means Nomura is finally finished with her character design. You can see the changes in the two images below.

Nothing much seems to have changed, just her face seems a bit longer and more defined in the preview page. Everything else seems to be more or less the same.

But it's a pretty pissy quality image anyway. Who knows, the actual thing might look different to both of them.

Basically, nothing important seems to have changed. Meaning, her boobs.

In my opinion you cant really tell due to the bad quality and paleness of the image...

maybe her face changed slightly, but nothing you would notice on first sight!

I noticed it at first sight. Anyway it's not that big of a deal, it's just development on her character since they said she wasn't finished yet.

btw, just ordered Final Fantasy XIII re..... as for Cloud message, will only buy once im able to check the content of that book in Kino.....

I thought a visible change in her jaw shape was quite easy to see. Even in a poor quality image.

there is a definate slight change in her facial and hair structure, but nothing major or even too noticeable. She looks slightly more gentle now...atleast in that image

Her chin looks awfully... pointy? It could be the angle, it looks like she's facing a slightly different direction. I really hope it's the angle. That would explain the nose looking a little different, too.

Her chin is STILL more defined, though the low quality image warped the change out of proportion a fair bit.

Look at the mouth, nose and chin. Especially the mouth. Also, her ear appears (ugh, had to) to be different, and she's missing some stray hairs on the left (or something)

there is a difference, but i dont think its the chin. I think that they just changed her face pose.

For instance on the original pic, it looks like she is seeing something from afar and the facial expression has a questioned look "what is that" look.

The new pic has her head tilted at a lower angle then the origional and having her look directly at the camera (viewer) in a serious tone.

ok found another pic, its bigger but its not as good quality and i could not find the older version not in pink. so you have to endure the pink or wait until the new pics come out.;)

yes exactly, I said I wished the new image wasn't tinted pink so we could actually see the difference of the old pic and the new one. But the new one sucks ass quality wise because of the pink.

And this is the first time that the Character Design has changed so openly for the main characters, right? :ohmy: Before, you'd get the final version and some official artwork. Now, there's changes to facial structure (like it matters):rolleyes:, and eye colour (in the case of Prince-guy-forgot-his-name)>_<.

Because it looked like she had AIDS.

They most likely changed it to the proportions of which are in game. When you compare her in-game to the cg set here, you can see differences, making them less alike. Thus the change comes to make it identical to that of in-game.

Otherwise it just looks weird, or that she has AIIIIDS.

Her face looks kinda weird.... I don't know...chances are her face/hair/skin color will change depending on the type of scene it is (prerendered in game, gameplay) it happens all the time in other games, characters shift a little in their appearance.
