IMO this stands out amongst the lot of Mediocre RPG's coming out recently. I think it looks quite interesting.

People can get onto Nomura for being overused all they want, but the fact still remains that his character designs contain more soul/imagination and are far more interesting than this generico dump. The game itself might be interesting and the areas surrounding the characters look quite pretty...but the characters look like they could've popped out of any stock anime or recent RPG...so boring to look at

I liked the video, the Star Ocean series seems to impress me over and over. Especially since SO3 is tied for my favorite game with FF8. The combat looks good to I must say.

the character designs irritate me, and the youngness of the captain and his helping buddies irritates me too. It should be that old guy on the mission not the 13 year old super blond. XD

I agree w/both Soyrun and Zelzar. I personall y just like how even though the designs become detailed, vivid, and real, they still manage to keep the anime look about them. My gratitudes towards Yoshinori and all developers. :wub:

Horrible character designs are horrible. Wth, seriously. The graphics look really iffy also...if it comes out for PS3, I might pick it up if I'm lacking something to play.

But the battle system still looks as fun as hell.

Loved the other Star Oceans but this one doesn't catch my interest the voice overs sounds shit in my opinion. The one thing I just couldn't grasp on about the Star Ocean series is the character design, but the graphics in this one could be better.

I think that battle system is like advanced one from Kingdom Hearts and modified a bit. Travelling looks like FF XII

And outdated CG-rendered models as well, I see. We have passed early PS2 era.

And again, the story and setup are magnificent, but if you can't relate to the characters, it's pointless. Which is why I couldn't even finish 30 minutes of TtEoT because I got sick of Sophia's face. It was like her eyes were slowly devouring her head.

I agree with Allen about the lack of emotion the characters had. That's a major thing that drew me back from the game/series. I mean I think it's a good game for what it's worth but not my favorite RPG.

My thoughts exactly.


I've fully played SO3 in every way possible and I think that it's the best RPG of its time ever.
Hope that SO4 turns out the same way. Gameplay during battle looks as chaotic as Valkyrie Profile 2: Silmeria but in this battle system things are costantly happening instead of turn based.:rolleyes:
