I did not like that movie.
Woo-Hoo! 300th Post, right here.......:w00t:.........

I have an idea, are you familiar with the Square Soft game Legend of Mana? It's a game for ps1 but in it there were a people called the Jumi, they had gems implanted into their chests, that functioned as their core if this was damaged our plucked out of their chest they would die.
I'll try and find a picture for you.
Lifrasthir
May 25 2007, 01:00 AM
When you introduced us to the theory that the Crystal may have a humaniod shape, that particular part reminded me of the movie cause the Crystal/life-thinggy took the shape of a human...Near the very end. It was able to act through a person...could that be a possibility?
Edit: Congradulations L-A!

http://www.geocities.com/lapisjumi/Images/LoM/Elazuls2b.jpg Here's a picture of Elazul a Jumi, on his chest is his gem, the Lapis Lazuli.
Here is another picture of a jumi, her name is Pearl you can clearly see the massive pearl imbedded in her chest: http://www.geocities.com/lapisjumi/Images/LoM/Pearlcb2.jpg

Wow that's a big crystal...and no I'm not familiar with Legend of Mana. I need to save money to get more games though...
N O C T E
May 25 2007, 01:04 AM
Hmm, that makes no sense. Where is the crystal when he is fighting then, unless it is under his jacket then it is not there....
Side Note - Thank you TF!
EDIT - I have played LOM, it was a good game.
Terros
May 25 2007, 01:07 AM
I'm saying that the crystal could be like that, and yes it's verywell possible that he hides the crystal under his jacket if he does have one imbedded in his chest, but I don't think he does, I think he'd be protecting someone else. Though it is possible.
Lifrasthir
May 25 2007, 01:08 AM
Would the Crystal lend its aid to the one protecting it...? My guess is it's kinda a deal. Kinda like "I protect you, you help me."....Maybe like that...and I don't think the Crystal's underneath his jacked. :P
What about the Crystal energy or whatever it is on the engine sword he uses as his main weapon? Would that have any connection to the, for lack of a better word, "bigger" Crystal?
Terros
May 25 2007, 01:11 AM
Most likely, going back to my theory that there is a "main" crystal and several shards scattered about.
Lifrasthir
May 25 2007, 01:11 AM
And those shards are in different forms..?
Terros
May 25 2007, 01:14 AM
Possibly, that add a whole new degree out interest to the game.
Lifrasthir
May 25 2007, 01:15 AM
This should prove to be very interesting.
Terros
May 25 2007, 01:21 AM
Indeed, then not only would he have to worried about protecting "main" crystal but the various forms the shards take on (some of these can be anything from crystalline to humanoid). It makes the game that more challenging and interesting, and it adds to the possible of the shards become one with the main crystal, then the question is, what happens then? Perhaps, and this just a theory, the shards need to be brought back to the main crystal for it to awaken.
Lifrasthir
May 25 2007, 01:23 AM
Then what use is the Crystal?....Would "awaken" mean some sort of "special power" the Crystal posesses?
Terros
May 25 2007, 01:25 AM
Yes what is the purpose for the crystal is at the heart of the story.
N O C T E
May 25 2007, 02:25 AM
Well, If the mother crystal has shards, I am going to say that each shard will be aligned with an element. For each Shard V uses, he will gain the powers of that element. Sorta like the Valor, Wisdom, & master forms in KH but with the elements. The mother crystal would be the thing that lets him do all the air bending, bullet blocking and cool sword stuff.
Lifrasthir
May 25 2007, 02:39 AM
Ah okay. Wait, if the shard that held a specific "element" was missing from the "Mother Crystal", wouldn't it kinda be like a puzzle then? Like, there's a piece missing and so you've got a blank spot in the middle of it....and thus you don't have that part of the picture.
N O C T E
May 25 2007, 02:43 AM
Think of it like this: The mother crystal still has shards missing from it but they are minute in size, and plus, after it was broken and the shards were made, that might have been when the elements were made.
My ideas usually have holes in them that need to be fixed........
Lifrasthir
May 25 2007, 02:48 AM
So it's like part of a pice of a puzzle...I'm confusing with all my analagies aren't I?
N O C T E
May 25 2007, 03:39 AM
Yes, I guess you could say that.:D
And you are not confusing with all you're analogies, you are only trying to relate a new concept to something you already know, it makes perfect sense.;)
Lifrasthir
May 25 2007, 04:35 PM
Okay....Good. Cause I woulda stopped if I made no sense..
Terros
May 25 2007, 11:47 PM
I think once seperated from the mother crystal the shards take on different froms.
Ultima Star
May 26 2007, 01:23 AM
um..how's that?..separated forms?....like..each crystal...once it's separated from the main can have different type of abilities and form and uses? @.@
Terros
May 26 2007, 01:25 AM
Yes, more or less.
Lifrasthir
May 26 2007, 01:44 AM
Seems logic enough.
Ultima Star
May 26 2007, 02:04 AM
Ok, first time I say something 'logic'
Terros
May 26 2007, 04:57 AM
Perhaps the shape the shards take depends on the size of the shards.
N O C T E
May 26 2007, 05:04 AM
No, don't think it will be size.
Misschoco
May 26 2007, 09:46 AM
No, don't think it will be size.
it could just be the properties each size crystal possesses-made any sense???
N O C T E
May 26 2007, 06:32 PM
Well that makes more sense now.:D
Now lets get more specific, do you mean properties, like its crystalization structure, like normal rocks and gems?
Misschoco
May 26 2007, 08:32 PM
Well that makes more sense now.:D
Now lets get more specific, do you mean properties, like its crystalization structure, like normal rocks and gems?
yh precisely what i meant :D it doesnt just have to be fantasy based the crystal properties but there could be scientific properties which give it its power and the inside structure of the crystal would give it different properties-made sense??
N O C T E
May 26 2007, 09:28 PM
Yes, I got it. Its just like how salts crystilline formation makes it grow in perfect cubes and when you break it it will always break in cubes.
Terros
May 28 2007, 12:39 AM
it could just be the properties each size crystal possesses-made any sense???
Perhaps, personally I don't think it'll depend on size either. But what if the shards can fuse with other things.
Ultima Star
May 28 2007, 12:42 AM
With other things?
OH! I got an idea, what about if the shards fuse with people's hearts?!
Lifrasthir
May 28 2007, 12:44 AM
Perhaps, personally I don't think it'll depend on size either. But what if the shards can fuse with other things.
Like materia?
Terros
May 28 2007, 12:44 AM
Kinda, I'd also leave it open to objects and animals.
Lifrasthir
May 28 2007, 12:46 AM
Giving them specific elemental powers?
Ultima Star
May 28 2007, 12:49 AM
Hey I said with people's hearts!
So that if those soldiers that fight over the crystals have to kill some people that have the some shards inside them..and then there's enough space for what you want: BLOOD!!
Lifrasthir
May 28 2007, 12:51 AM
That sounds like a season of Digimon.
Terros
May 28 2007, 12:52 AM
Giving them specific elemental powers?
Possibly but I'd also leave it open to more than that.
Ultima Star
May 28 2007, 12:53 AM
Forget about it then......
Lifrasthir
May 28 2007, 12:53 AM
Open how?
Terros
May 28 2007, 12:55 AM
Open how?
Like they'd have special abilities, that are non-elemental, because just governing a single element is a bit cliche (god I'm using that word too much). For example if it fuses with an animal the animal could change into some new creature.
Lifrasthir
May 28 2007, 12:58 AM
So it could be a metamorphis or an elemental combination is what you're saying right? That could be possible since it seems as though the Crytal, even shards, are coveted by alot of people.
Terros
May 28 2007, 01:01 AM
Exactly. Basically I'm saying there are an infinite set of possibilities when the crystal comes into contact with something/someone.
Lifrasthir
May 28 2007, 01:05 AM
I would think there would eventually be a limit on the Crystal's powers...
Terros
May 28 2007, 01:06 AM
Most likely, but there's no telling what effect the crystals power will have on whatever it fuses with.
Lifrasthir
May 28 2007, 01:07 AM
What about life and death? Alpha and Omega....?
Terros
May 28 2007, 01:09 AM
Hmm...I'm sure it's power could re-animate dead things while killing other things. Like I said what it will do is unknown.
Alphonse
May 28 2007, 01:11 AM
Yep. Got that right.
Lifrasthir
May 28 2007, 01:11 AM
I think Square would mask the Crystal's true potential until something drastic happens.
Terros
May 28 2007, 01:12 AM
Yes, it would be critical to the story, since the game revolves around it.
Lifrasthir
May 28 2007, 01:16 AM
It would.
Terros
May 28 2007, 01:17 AM
Ever left to wonder.

I want a great movement somewhere in the middle of the game...not like an exodus but a great battle or a riot or something with violence..
Terros
May 28 2007, 01:23 AM
Considering the situation that is possibly what will happen.
Lifrasthir
May 28 2007, 01:25 AM
I hope it does...It would be a perfect time to unveil the Crystal's true powers...depending on how it's introduced.
Terros
May 28 2007, 01:32 AM
Indeed, that could work.
Lifrasthir
May 28 2007, 01:35 AM
I hope it does. :'( Please hear my feeble request Square........Ah what the heck I know you won't.

Fenristh
May 28 2007, 07:41 PM
Yeah. They probably didnt do it because of age rating but they've probably realised that in the graphics they can do now, someone having their neck cut open and no blood coming out looks stupid. xD

May 28 2007, 07:45 PM
Exactly, going back to advent children when Cloud got shot...what the heck was that? There was no even a BULLET HOLE! What the crap?

Yeah. They probably didnt do it because of age rating but they've probably realised that in the graphics they can do now, someone having their neck cut open and no blood coming out looks stupid. xD
You have to think though, what would the rating be?...
Fenristh
May 28 2007, 07:55 PM
Depends on how intense it is. People exploding like Soldier of Fortune would be 18 xD but they'll probably make it a 12 or 15. Or censor it for US and EU -_-
Lifrasthir
May 28 2007, 07:58 PM
They normally aim for rated T games don't they?
Fenristh
May 28 2007, 08:07 PM
Well, in England Final Fantasy XII is a 16+ and Dirge of Cerberus is a 15 so Final Fantasy Versus XIII being a 15 is more than likely.
Lifrasthir
May 28 2007, 08:08 PM
Are the ratings different in England than the US?
Fenristh
May 28 2007, 08:17 PM
Yeah, they are. :P We have ratings that are like, "suggested" like the 16+ but they still apply the same as a 18 rated game which is legally binded.
Anyway this is going off topic. ;P
Lifrasthir
May 28 2007, 08:19 PM

And unrealistic. I mean, if you murder someone their blood (or bodies but that's beside the point :D) doesn't disappear.

I know the "body disappearing" thing has been around for a long time but if indeed they make the enemies bleed it would seem unrealistic even for the bodies to disappear and the blood to stay behind. Maybe not as much but kind of.
Misschoco

yh its fantasy but body's disappearing..........
keep the blood :perv:
Lifrasthir
May 28 2007, 09:46 PM
Yes Square should at least keep the blood splattered exactly where you slayed the enemy.
Cathryn
May 28 2007, 09:49 PM
The bodies could stay there after a time alotment. basically like the dirt tracks on motorstorm they dont dissapear after the second time round the track. If you get me XDDD
N O C T E
May 28 2007, 09:51 PM
They could do it the way they do in Oblivion....Unless the dead person is a part of the story line, the bodies and the blood dissapear after you leave the dungeon, cave, house, whatever you are in after a certain amount of time...But are always they whilst you are inside.
Lifrasthir
May 28 2007, 09:52 PM
That's true...I'd be okay with the blood disappearing if say, you entered the room, kicked bad guy ass, left the room, then came back.
N O C T E
May 28 2007, 09:54 PM
Nope,, not good enough for me. In oblivion, as long as you are still in the "area" where you killed the person the body and blood does not dissapear, even if you go into another room in the "area".
Cathryn
May 28 2007, 09:56 PM
Yea but say if you walked out then staight back in and the body has just VANISHED.
Then the realism is kinda gone a bit there =/
Lifrasthir
May 28 2007, 09:57 PM
Okay...so the blood shouldn't disappear until you leave the specific "area".

Lifrasthir
May 28 2007, 10:50 PM
As in at the beginning configuration one question will be: "If you despise blood seeping out of enemies' wounds and don't want to see that, then press the x button on 'Yes'". xD
N O C T E
May 28 2007, 10:58 PM
To be quite honest, a feint hearted person should not play a violent game. Why would they not just play FFXIII?
And in some games, that option limits other things.

That is what made Vagrant Story so sweet. The bodies didn't disappear until you went to Vadelentia or whatever.

You could change the color of the oil (see: blood) in Nanobreaker.
They probably give a choice at the begining of the game or in the options menu to turn blood on or off. Japan may not get blood at all because of their weird laws examples: JP version of The Last Remant is bloodless, Ninja Gaiden: Sigma has no dismemberments, Dead Rising is bloodless...

Yes, I don't know how that happened since many other games even ones rated Cero Z (game rating equal to porn) have blood took out except for a small few. They took out the blood in the third Xenosaga(one and two still had blood unless you haven't played those) in the US because they wouldn't have been allowed to keep the T rating if you know how the ESRB works.

What if they did like they do in MGS and have a team but instead of you killing them off one by one there is deception and they kill themselves off and at the end of the game, the people who you thought were your friends are your enemies and vice versa.

When the trailer music talks about this (assuming that the translations are accurate) what does it mean by "A kingdom sleeps"? What about the children? Why are they "groaning" and why can't they hope? (I've forgotten if we've discussed this so I'm bringing it back up.)

You guys need to take all FF history into context.
They have had two types of characters.
1. Cool silent protaganist with some sort of emo issue
(e.G. Cloud, Squall, and now "Storm" or whatever his name is)
2. Cheerful happy, naiive stupid.
(e.g. Tidus and Vaan...GAY!!!)
So now that FFXII had a cheerful idiotic hero, they now need the I'm-too-cool-for-this-realm hero.

True, and I agree that Versus' protagonist falls into the first category, but there are characters who have broken this mould. FFVI for example and, though I haven't played IX, I believe Zidane doesn't exactly fall into those categories (maybe 2-ish).
I'm willing to blame Nomura and write XII off as a fluke.

anyway, if the interview with the game developer hint that the game plot story will be a tragic... there are also the issue of the main character being good and evil at the same times hence the trailer shows the Shakespeare words... i just read it at other versus forum site... also the game developer said that this Final fantasy 13 title will the most darkest ever...
Not that interested in what the gameplay or battle system will be, but im really interested in the plot storyline and the character development.

Militarily you should only make an attack if you outnumber your opposition 3 to 1, that they used 100+ soldiers as an invasion force is ludicrus unless the city's population had evacuated or are dead, which seems unlikely as I saw no collateral damage to buildings or the road, which is a given considering they can deploy rocket launchers, i would be supprised if that was the only explosive divice in their arsenal.

He may not like having guards around, remember we've only seen one battle and we don't know what all the circumstances of that fight were, therefore to say that he doesn't have servants simply because you don't see them in ONE trailer, is ridiculous! We don't know how he lives when he's not on battlefield, and as for how the enemy got in the city we weren't shown how they entered. Further there was no damage to the buildings mean that there probably wasn't a struggle getting into the city. What I'm saying is this:
The fact there there is no damage to the city from the enemy means there are only a very few explainations as to how they got there.
1) They entered the city by air, via helicopter or something.
...or...
2) There were always in the city to begin with, maybe the soldiers aren't hired by another country, maybe they're a resistence group with the versus characters city itself. That would explain why the attack force was so small. Also from how the enemy functioned in the fight it didn't seem like they were very experienced or trained soldiers, whick could reinforce this theory.

----That's it there then. A trained or experienced force wouldn't expect such resistance from a Prince. I mean, if I were them, I sure as hell wouldn't expect him to be a formidable force already. Judging from those dead sentries, the soldiers probably killed the others they saw 'cause it wouldn't matter much to them. They wouldn't waste time maybe so that's why no damage to the city. If the palace is in the center of the city and I were them, I'd make for that right away and eliminate those on the way there.
Terros
Dec 16 2007, 08:08 PM
REALISTICALLY speaking, no country would simply just allow an enemy to walk into it's city. There would have been some sort of fight which would lead to there being some damage to the city around the battle area. Bottom line, if you shoot a machine gun off in a city, you are bound to hit something, and that would qualify as damage. I think the solidiers where hired by some other high ranking citizen (maybe a nobleman), WITHIN the city who wants to get rid of the prince and get the crystal. Remeber he is the last memeber of his family that didn't happen by itself, something caused it.
I think the enemy was hired from within the city because a noble(s) could probably afford an attack force the size of the one that attacked the prince. An enemy country would have sent a much larger force.

Realistically speaking, nations may not allow for foreign invasion but treaties and such had been broken. Meaning, if his kingdom is perhaps one of the most advanced civilization, the outer world would be entirely different. Judging from how he easily stabbed through such armour, the enemies wouldn't give a damn to an advanced kingdom's laws. Much like Spain vs. the Inca. Disclaimer: Not that I am saying Spain is less advanced than Inca or vice versa but that is a matter of opinion.
