K :wtf: Everyone to their own and all that, and I'm not insulting people who do like the series, but I just can't understand why people up as old as, and beyond the age of 18 want to play a game starring mickey mouse and donald duck. My boyfriend used to like it so I attempted to enjoy it but I just couldn't.

The whole "we can win with the power of friendship!" is very lame, but even teenagers liking that doesn't surprise me. People like Gears of War and the dialogue is equallty shit ("Let's do this!", "This is the beggining of the end" etc).

Sos I just wondered how people can bare the disney characters. They're pretty much the centre of most of each game. I thought Birth by Sleep was looking alright, then I saw/remembered the Disney and I was like noooooooooo and that's more than enough to put me off completely. :wtf:

Well, I don't think that the Disney char. are the centre of the games. I play them because I like the story, I don't really care if there's Disney characters in it.

Well, I was kinda introduced to the wider world of gaming by the first Kingdom Hearts and went from there. The story is kind of stupid, but it can be tolerable. Also, the series has improved so much since its beginning, and is still improving. Disney is starting to have far less influence now, and the slightly childish shell belies a sometimes confusingly complicated story.
It's becoming incredibly popular-- Who the hell thought a cross between Square-Enix and Disney would survive against other, greater game brands? It's really a surprise upcomer.

Kingdom Hearts is becoming like the Final Fantasy series, and when FF ends, KH will probably take its place as Square's main series. Look at the directions its taking and you'll see what I mean.

I tried playing the 2nd one and I don't even know how I made it through the first. But seeing as I don't like Disney and the button mashing got tiring I just stopped, I'm just going to give the games to my roomie since he loves Disney

I never liked the fact that they raped the Disney movies inside out, terrible ;_;.
But i think the only reason it was attracted to people was because of Square Enix, i wouldn't be surprized.

'OMFG DID U HEAR? SE N DISNAY MAKIN A NEW SERIAZ'
'NO WAY'
'Shit, we shud totally buy that, cuz u knoe SE makes epic games'

KH was annoying :aldo: KH was BARELY better, But i think i may enjoy BBS just because Aqua has these like HUGE tits.

Well they sort of are considering that you go from world filled with Disney characters to another world filled with Disney characters for the majority of the game. :wtf:

Kingdom Hearts is becoming like the Final Fantasy series, and when FF ends, KH will probably take its place as Square's main series. Look at the directions its taking and you'll see what I mean.I disagree. The Kingdom Hearts story relys on a world and a bunch of characters, the same of which have been used in pretty much every game. It's based off of one absolute "universe" (the whole hearts thing), whereas Final Fantasy can obviously be completely different each time. I think it will be quite the opposite, they will rape the KH story for another few games and they'll loose all originality, and Final Fantasy will keep on going because they're different games with different stories, characters and world rules every time. (Apart from the spin-offs, obviously)

Well I played this game solely because it was made by Squaresoft and it was an rpg (at the time), so anything that involves both of those two things would of been in my hands the first day it came out(didn't really care if it's good or bad, I know that was kind of stupid). But I later found out that the game was pretty fun whether it was the gameplay or the story, it was all good. Eversince I have been a fan of the series.

what i like about kingdom hearts is the story, i cant really say i like the disney side of it and the worlds can get dull quite fast. I guess i like to see the characters from the final fantasy games and some of the originaly made characters for this game intrest me a little bit too.

I like the story of Kingdom Hearts. It's so damn complicated and interesting, leaving you with questions and 'how the hell' statements all the time. I think an apeal is the different beings thing. There are Heartless, and Nobodies, and now these Unbirths. That means that there can be a million versions of one person, hehe.

I know it's corny at times, and I want to kill a few Disney characters, but I love the originals, and storyline, and the whole KH universe concept. I probably wouldn't have even known about RPGs that Squeenix crank out if it wasn't for Kingdom Hearts. I remember seeing the commercial for the first game back in like... 2001? and then I didn't even have a PS2. But I sure as hell wanted that game. It seemed cool to me. And then a million years later, the second game came out and I was like 'Oh yeah! I remember that game! It made me want a PS2!'

And thus I went into Squeenix fannery, to you guy's chagrin.

I like it cause of the op/ed cutscenes. Like the casual gameplay too. That and the first game I ever got into was ducktales for the nes.. watched World of Disney as a kid, i.e. nostalgia out the ying-yang. Haven't liked the story much though which almost keeps me from having any form of expectation.

what can i say about KH series.... I love it... the story started sort of simple... kid journeys to find his friends, at the same time saving the worlds from the heartless...
When KH chain of memories come in, opened all these new doors.. and now its so complex and im so interested in whats coming for the next games.

Game is easy ina a way, even though, fighting Sephy in KH1 was fucking hard... but i love the fast botton mashing game play... and how Square made Disney characters cool, when i never really liked disney to start with.

Breath of fresh air from Final Fantasy series, so now i just play one or the other. :)

PS: cant wait for PSP and DS games now.

Ever since I was a kid, I loved Disney and Pixar movies. They are what creatively inspire me to someday make great stories.

Ever since I was a kid, I loved the Final Fantasy series. They are the inspiration drive me to make great games someday.

K+The Kingdom Hearts blends these two together in a well-balanced story of keys, hearts, and the battle of light and darkness for the two.

If you ask me the story is awesome. I've beat KH1, KH:CoM, and KH2 (several times) and I still don't fully understand the plot so far. It's very complex...

The gameplay is addictive as hell. It's fast, but it does sometimes get kind of boring. IMO the Disney characters need to go, then KH will REALLY get sales.

The storyline, gameplay and characters attracted me to this series. Who'd have thought it, Squall on the same screen as Donald Duck lol.

I liked gameplay in KH2 better because it was easier to work than KH1 and COM.
Storyline was better in KH1 because it had more feeling to it (Yay Watanabe). KH2 had lots of corny scenes (stupid Nojima!) where they laugh at something that's not even remotely funny, such as Jack Sparrow and Sora saying "Are not!" at the same time. Although I gotta admit, the argument on Radiant Garden between Merlin and Cid was pretty funny.

Also I saw a video of a Sephiroth boss fight on the internet and that was another reason to play it.

Birth by Sleep looks sick and I can't wait for them to make Kingdom Hearts 3, hurry up already Nomura!

Well it's really fun, particularly KHI.

KHII on the other hand was way too linear and had some serious plotholes and narration problems. There's also the massive filler in the game just to make it look longer than it really is, but I'm guilty of enjoying it anyway because...I'm a sucker for Disney, despite it being kinda silly at times.

I don't know, I still managed to really enjoy it regardless. It has its magical charm.

I could go on and on about what I love in the KH series.

The main thing is the battle system, which is fucking BRILLIANT- the final battle of KHII feels like you're actually playing an anime.

I wish all RPGs had combat systems this fun.

I love the whole premise of the story (which I admit is sometimes needlessly convoluted).

I love the atmosphere.

I love . . . . everything about it!

The entire KH series is kind of like a giant fan-service project. And as a giant fan, I really enjoyed being serviced! :D

I think its the 'story behind the story' aspect of KH. Even though it seemed really kiddish, if you actually paid attention to the small details you'd be immersed in those whole different story. For instance, Ansems Letters, you found out all about his experiments and about his Unknown and Nobody. I FUCKIN LOVED IT!!!!

...and now I cant wait till KH3 comes out

To be honest, I never even noticed how childish KH was until someone said "hey, you know it's kinda childish right?". Hey, you're right!

I was so focused on the deeper aspects that I never even noticed the surface childish-stuff. It made me love the series that much more, since I was impressed by how they made it lighthearted enough for kids to play, while giving many things a deeper meaning so older players would remain interested. I'm looking forward to Birth By Sleep, since it looks a bit darker than the main series KH stories.

And then, of course, there were the FF Characters, though I didn't know they were in the game until I'd seen one of them while playing it.

The combat system is wonderful, particularly in KHII. The only downside is that it's pretty easy. More challenge has the combat soaring to levels that I would truly consider 'epic'. Beating Sephiroth, for instance, evoked a feeling of utter euphoria. But even being easy, I've never played an action RPG with a combat system that was so plain fun.

The storyline is, at times, silly and corny. But if you can't enjoy it, you really need to reevaluate things. It's heartfelt, it's complex enough to keep one interested (without being complex to the point of needless confusion), and frankly it's quite touching. I enjoy it just as much as the combat.

And people whining about the voice acting are silly. There's absolutely nothing wrong with it. Keep in mind, however, that voice acting elitism is one of my pet peeves, so I might be skewed here. Ah well.

Real men watch Disney movies!

First time I noticed KH was when i was buying a final fantasy game at EB and the guy said that i should give KH a try. KH 2 was already out then and there booths had the game as a playable demo still but i did not like the fact that it add all that disney crap in there. I freakn hate disney! but some where down the road i saw some gameplay footage on youtube and i was hooked. Gameplay was what pulled me in and the story was also amazing! I just wish the game was darker and mature rated.:'(

Call me corny, but the idea of using both SE & Disney characters in a game seem rather enchanting. :P The story, obviously, appeals to wide age group, also. And, gameplay isn't as restricted as FF titles.

So...YAY KH!
