A certain RPG?
With schools and missions and that the schools are in war?
*coughsFFVIII*coughs*
Is this from the FFVIII team? I heard the FFVIII is doing versus as well, so...

This is from the Before Crisis team. -_- It's been a while since we had a school-type game, hasn't it?

Oh, I forgot about that game. Yes, it seems interesting anyways.

Well, it is kinda.
I am more excited about Versus however. But when Square-Enix said it is going to release this on PSP, it made me catch attention on this one.
I mean if it was for mobile, who would ever play it? Just a few people.

Only a few Westerners perhaps, but a few million Japanese would.

I swear loads of random things from all the XIII games remind me of VIII, the school thing like you said, the new Selphie and Seifer lookalike characters (Sarahs name's even slightly similar to Selphie ), gunblade #2, Noctis and Stella (I'm gonna have to get used to that) meeting at a dance... I could go on.
I'm probably just obsessed though ^_^

Oh yes! Well, I am a big FFVIII fan.
Yes, the party with the first meeting of Noctis and Stella it is like in FFVIII with Squall and Rinoa.

I find it sad that a thread located in the Final Fantasy Agito XIII forum would slowly turn into a Versus XIII thread. -_- It's not a matter of which game you're more excited for in this thread. It's more a matter of... "trials and fear?? In a school??"

Zell is very similar to Shotgun guy from versus.
I think versus xiii story is going to be similar to viiii.

you guys have a point there about the similarities in characters xD

Oh yeah, and Squall was the first to say the whole "There's no good or bad, only opinions" stuff. Game wise, at least.

That's like, one of my favorite FF quotes EVAR.
But this one has Nazi symbolism and stuff. Actually the Galbadian Empire did seem a bit fascist... but less blatantly then of what I've read for Agito.
VIII was amazing so I don't mind the similarities, so long as it ain't no carbon copy (which I doubt very much).

I agree on that. Well, FFVIII was amazing, some features would be nice.

I didn't finish 8, but Agito doesn't remind me of it. XD It seems like the students take charge from the start. Assuming that the new trailer is the setup, intro thing for the game, Suzaku's school and the crystal it houses is destroyed in the beginning.
Also, unless the schools are crazy different from each other, it didn't look like another school attacking Suzaku to me. @_@ These guys were armored soldiers with warships and stuff.

Yes, and I imagine most non-Japanese non-FFXI players are.
The bird on the flag carried by one of the students is Suzaku, I'm almost positive.
Suzaku is the Japanese name for the Chinese Vermillion Bird. Here's some wikipedia:
The Vermilion Bird(朱雀) is one of the Four Symbols of the Chinese constellations. According to Wu Xing, the Taoist five-elemental system, it represents the fire-element, the direction south, and the season summer correspondingly. Thus it is sometimes called the Vermilion Bird of the South (南方朱雀, Nán Fāng Zhū Què). It is often mistaken for the Fenghuang due to similarities in appearance, but the two are different creatures. The Fenghuang is the king of birds, while the Vermilion Bird is a mythological spirit creature of the Chinese constellations.
Okay so maybe that wasn't extremely helpful. It's a great big mythical phoenix from Chinese lore.
It seems that each school in Agito is associated with one of the four beasts. I don't know if Kirin (the empty center) has a school or if he'll show elsewhere at all. He does in FFXI.
This stuff was mentioned in Cloud Vol. 1, and probably elsewhere, but I never got a chance to read it all the way through and don't have it with me. ~____~;
EDIT: Thank you, Naunau. XD Here's a rough summary of some of the Agito stuff. http://www.finalfantasy-xiii.net/forums/showthread.php?t=2789

Each school has a different animal? Sounds a bit Harry Potter-ish to me.

Uh... I didn't find it but I'll look for it. I have a long break now. If I find it, I'll edit a link into my Suzaku post. XD I think it'd be really helpful.

I can definitely see where parallels can be drawn between Agito and FF-VIII.
One being, like you said, a school of badass teens taking on the world. But so far, that seems to be where it ends. Differences include:
1) Agito's less Sci-Fi art style and more Magical-Machine style kinda like FF-VII.
2) Way more students in the school (main characters I mean) in Agito.
3) Less violence (it seems) than VIII.
4) Simpler story (it seems) than VIII.
5) VIII had no crystals at all.
Obviously, it's too early to jump to conclusions, but hey that's what we're here for.
