Advent Rising (2005)

Hey guys. I'm new to the forum and I thought I'd start off by recommending to everyone, what is in my opinion, the greatest PC Game ever made. Advent Rising is a VERY underrated game and barely any people have heard of it. It launched on the XBOX first and then was ported to PC. It was supposed to be a trilogy but higher ups ditched due to the bad performance in sales.
The basic storyline consists of humans living in space in the future on outposts while cooperating with other alien species. When a new species known as the Seekers start attacking all the other inhabitants, Gideon (you), a military commander of one of the last human outposts must help counterattack what could be an entity that is bent on recreating a whole Universe.
It is a Sci-Fi third person action/adventure game. The feel is like playing a fast-paced action movie. Some features that make this game amazing are:
Bullet-Time. ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. You can use it for dodging, shooting etc. SLow Motion galore.
HUGE ARSENAL. An overwhelming amount of weapons and armor to customize your character.
Powers. Along with weapons, you can use psychic powers and level them up to keep you on the same playing field as extraterrestrial species.
Soundtrack: ONE OF THE BEST I'VE EVER HEARD. And that coming from a Final Fantasy fan truly is something ;).

All in all, this game gets a perfect rating from me. It has beautiful graphics and at the same time, low system requirements. I highly recommend this game and please ignore the fact that I have never posted anything before so no one knows my system of rating or the calibre of the games i play :D. PLAY IT AND LOVE IT!

I was really hyped for the game before it launched but was setback somewhat when the game got blasted by everyone. It was a real disappointment so years later when I decided to pick up a few titles I was missing, I stumpled over picking up Advent Rising. Since the Gamestop sale was buy two get one free I couldn't really lose. Boy was I end for a treat.

Forget about the game-stalling glitches, 5 fps slowdown, and wacky off the wall aiming system; Advent Rising was fun as hell. You felt like a military might as soon as shit hit the fan. Evading fire and using your fellow humans to save what is left of the space station, your first "Magic power" in the training hall, all the way up until god mode time sliping and crystal genading everybody that lays in your path. I love Advent Rising. There are times before I go to sleep when I just think about how great that game was for me. Weilding double rocketlaunchers to protect the last of the human colonies and take down patrol ships. getting into fist fights with surpreme guards before you decide to slow time and snap their neck (how real fuckers get down).

I loved every minute of that game. My cousin loved it so much she actually sat through me playing the whole game on a weekend. The only other time we sit through someone playing a game like that was old Tomb Raiders and KoToR 1.

Kind of makes me sad that we won't get a sequel at all. The PSP game was canned, the xbox game was canned. Now we are just left with this one amazing experinece know as Advent Rising. The game Tommy Tallerico talks about when he says "listen to those great footsteps sounds!"

Wow! It's great to know that some people agree with me on this. It really brings doubt to the credibility of gaming critics. I recently saw the gameplay/demo videos of Fracture, which comes out in a few days, and it seems really similar to Advent Rising. It probably won't reach that level of epicness but I think it's the best thing we can get next to a sequel :(
