We know for sure that XIV will be released sometime, when you think the game will be first anounced? Which square team is going to do the game? When it will be released?Which plataforms will be avaliable? Is there going to be a XIV compilation?
Probably the game is in its initial status, im almost sure they are already thinking on it. When Square finished VII they started doing VIII, IX and XI( yeah..its true) each game had its own team so they manage to resealed the m in a short time period. VII-1997 VIII-1999 IX-2000 X-2001 XI-2002(IN JAPAN).
Maybe XIV will arive only 2/3 years after XIII release..

2009, maybe early 2010 for confirmation, depends on when XIII will be released and how many games they're planning on making for FNC.

who knows maybe ff14 will appear on ps4 or xbox 720! I debut but honestly I dont wont to think o it right now, there is too many myseriuo around ff13, and its already giving me headache so I dont want to consider ff14, but I wont be suprised if they announce itr short after releasing 13, maybe end of 2009, or beginning of 2010

I think they should wait until they have something worth showing this time before announcing it. Maybe even leaving it as late as the year it'll be released. I much prefer hearing nothing and then getting an announcement and hearing it'll be released the same year.

Yes..i think that way too. It was much cooler if they announced for the first time FFXIII in 2008 or in 2009. 2006 was too earlier...

To be honest, Square-Enix already have way too many exciting titles in development now to even seriously think on it. I am certain however that it will be part of the next gen for sure, seeing as both FFXIII and Versus XIII will be on the PS3(360too of course, except ion japan).

I imagine in that case then, we might not seen confirmation until maybe at least 2011, because this is a good size time frame for possibly even versus to already have come out, and maybe a good chunk of KHIII development done.

That all depends on who does it obviously, and how it'll be styled.

Graphically, I doubt they will look that much better then XIII and Versus XIII, seeing as the PS3 graphics already are at photo realistic levels..and heck, there's no way to differentiate regular graphics and FMV's anymore, which makes FMV scenes useless now.

I predict then, that at the very least, XIV will have no FMV's, because the graphics will be beautiful all aorund, the music quality will probably be similar to the X series and XII, because..well..the GC-PS2-Xbox gen was probably the marking of the farthest they could go..I could be wrong of course.

Other then that..who knows?

totally disagree, graphics will imporove, it will and to even higher level, as for me FF13 still looks worst then Crysis in some terms, there will be lots to improve, and there is a diffrenece between FMV and in game gameplay, you can see it clearly on images,

but as most ppl mentioned most likely it will arrive on new consoles, which really trouble me, that a looooooooooooong way to go yet

I agee 100%, FFVIII was the best one so far in my opinion and I would like to see more.

As for FFXIV, I think it will be announced like 4-5 months after the NA release of XIII. With a release date of probably 2011-2012.

Actually, it was stated there's hardly a difference between non FMV and FMV graphics now, that's a fact.

Plus, the PS3 hasn't yet been pushed to it's ultimate limits..I wouldn't be shocked if KHIII looked better then even versus.

Big rumour this one! The following rumour come from an anonymous poster on 2Ch. It pays big to browse there occasionally. Some good **** always comes up time after time! Gotta love rumours straight from Japan, especially when they're anonymous posters.

Here's a translation of the key points:

- It's going to be announced with a teaser CGI trailer at SQUARE ENIX PARTY 2009. The official Japanese release date of FFXIII will also be announced at this event. The first SQEX Party was in 2005 then another in 2007 and the next in 2009. They have the event every 2 years in the Tokyo Game Show convention building called the Makuhari Messe.

- Again, PS3 only in Japan but for 360 and PS3 in USA and Europe.

- Being developed by the FFXII team but will not be set in Ivalice. It will be a completely new world.

- Has been in early stages of development since the release of FFXII: Zodiac Job System (August 2007).

- It's using Crystal Tools.

- Being directed by Hiroyuki Itou.

- Scenario being written by Hiroshi Minagawa.

- Art director will be Isamu Kamikokuryo (He's definitely becoming the new Yusuke Naora, I mean XII, XIII and now XIV?)

- Character design by Akihiko Yoshida.

- Music by Kumi Tanioka (Yay! She got a promotion! Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles OST FTW!). Main Theme is by Nobuo Uematsu.

- ADB system is coming back but using the FFXIII animation system therefore meaning seamless battles with no transitions but the animations will be like FFXIII (Therefore like FFVII: AC). Management called for Gambits being axed from the series due to too much controversy from fans worldwide (sad news about Gambits IMO).

- Hiroshi Minagawa is currently not on the project though he's writing the story. He is leading part of the FFXII team in making Vagrant Story from the ground up for PSP. Hitoshi Sakamoto making new music for the Vagrant Story remake. It's part of Ivalice Alliance and Akitoshi Kawazu will be Executive Producer.

- Seeing as the FF main series brings in the most money and SQEX really want to grow as a company, the management have decided to permanently make the FFXII team a main series FF development team. The Kitase team is no longer the only official main series FF team, there are now two. The reason is to get main series FF games out as quickly as possible like every 2 years while both teams can spend 4 years on a game and therefore have it be a high quality product. Hiroyuki Itou will lead this new team while Yoshinori Kitase will continue to lead the current one. (This idea is freaking genius! More decisions like this please Yoichi Wada!)

This is probably all a lie by some hardcore Japanese fan but it feels great to actually see info on FFXIV already being thrown around.

When I think about it, we probably won't see a Final Fantasy with the number XIV on it for quite some time. Take into account the 3+ year development periods, plus the time it takes to release and the competition the game will face. Fabula Nova Crystallis isn't even finished yet, so we may very well see first word of FFXIV in far late 2013. I will be twenty then. Jeez.

FFXIII compilation will span throughout the PS3's lifetime imo so we won't be seeing FFXIV for some time. SE has a few more games planned for the PS3 and Xbox 360 based on the FF NCS, not to mentioin they haven't even unleashed the PS3's full potential yet. There will be books, movies and even manga that will be introduced in the coming years.

Why do they have to wait until after all the FNC are finished until they make FFXIV, if XIV is handled by a diffrent dev team (which it most likly will) it will work out fine. As long as XIV comes out after XIII where is the problem in having other FNC games in development.

agree here, FF 12 wasnt good enough to wield the name of FF
it would be good for a seprete title, but not the FF
and Vagrant Story for PSP?
I have never heard of it before...
if its true then it makes me wonder why they making such a good title on PSP, sure PSP is a great machine, but think of what potential could it reach if it would come out on PS3 or Xbox 360...
Is the same story as Parasite Eve, I feel bit disaponted with the fact that its coming out on PSP(at least not for mobile phones)

I woudn't mind another FF from the XII team as that game had a LOT of problems under development and i belive FFXII had lot of potential and i liked it. I belive they could make a fantastice game under smoother surcumstances.

In terms of Vagrant Story, i remember reading in an interview a few years ago after they had completed FFTactics TWOL where they said that a remake of Vagrant Story would be the next logical step.
