As you may know they just cut the price on the 360 with the cheapest one at $199. Do you think Sony will now cut the price on the PS3 to compete ? I dont have a PS3 yet lol thats why im asking. So if they cut the price by christmas then ill wait until then to buy one. :)

Doubtful
Sony would lose more money if they lowered it.

Don't they already make next to nothing off of them? I really doubt they will again.

They have said no to this like 10 billion times, and the answer is still NO.

Yes the 160 GB is going to be comeing out soon, its going to be the same as the 40GB PS3 I believe just with more space and you also get some games and stuff in the bundle.
Also I doubt sony will drop the price, they acctually sell a quality product and there is no need to cut prices.

Why are they not making backwards compatible models anymore? It's kinda pissing me off. :\

The way I see it is, since this 160 gig is coming out for like $500 why keep the 80gig at the same price? Wouldn't that technically be a price cut?

I love my MGS4 80GB Bundle, it was well worth the price, if any of you need to get a PS3 buy that bundle if you can it is so much better than the 120 GB. Backwards compatability, MGS4, 2 more USBs, and the media center!

Yeah you are better off getting the MGS4 bundle, especially seeing as there'll be no more made, although I am very happy with my 40gig at the moment only because I don't need the backwards compatability since I have my ps2 and it works wonderfully all I'm going to do to my 40gig is add more memory to the hard drive

There was already a $300 price drop for the PS3, and that reduces the probability of another. With the 80Gb model going for $700 here in Australia (and lower elsewhere) There may be a drop in price in maybe two years, when the next version of the PS3 is released. Admit it, it's inevitable.

I can honestly see SONY doing a price cut, only because it'll bring in more customers do to affordability

Thats not really an actual price cut though since they're taking away one of it's main features

Maybe because PS2s are still selling extraordinarily well ?
And because most people who buy a PS3 have a PS2 (or used too). And you but a PS3 for PS3 games.
They are already loosing enough money as it is.

I suppose. But I know I'd rather have one system to do both than two to get the job done

It would be nice if Sony lowered the price on it, -_- I still need to get one- I'll probably get it around Christmas time but I didn't know that there was a newer version coming out? Is it the small one?
