View Full Version : An idea for another FFVII game

I'm probably not the first to think of this.
How about a game about Sephiroth and his life? How he was raised from infancy to adulthood by the Shinra Company and the effects this might have had on him.
It would be interesting and another great reason for this game...you'd be able to play as Sephiroth.
He was once an ultimate bad guy (still is kind of). But now, with Crisis Core, he's become a really tragic character that should be explored even more.

It's a good story idea, but I think that's what fanfiction's for, really. I'm not sure they could milk another game out of VII to be honest. Of course it would be a brilliant business plan for SE, sure some of the fans would complain about it, they'd still buy it.

I would love that. Am playing CC now and i've seen a different side to seph which is very interesting. A game with him as the main character would be beyond awesome.

Watch out this thread is going to be spammed with hate.

I hate fanfiction. If SE could do it well, it would be great.
By the way, rolled up newspapers don't hurt.

I am pretty sure that the FFVII Compilation was said to not have been completed yet, so possibly.

All Hail Sephiroth!!!

:nag: Goddammit!! Final Fantasy Vii needs to die, and wither away.
Every two MOTHERFUCKING seconds, there's an announcement of a new FFVII game.
for fuck's sake, the original game isn't even sold by Square anymore. Pretty soon EVERY goddamn Final Fantasy game in HISTORY will have "VII" in the title!! D:<

Fuck final fantasy vii.
IT SUCKED BACK WHEN IT WAS RELEASED, AND IT SUCKS NOW.

If there were to be another in the compilation, then that would be the one.
And a remake.

Forget Sephiroth. His life's explained enough with Crisis Core and FFVII. We know he was normal and lived a sheltered life. What more could be said? Like he did anything impressive.

I, too, would like a game based around Sephiroth but then again, if they reveal everything about his past in it, then there would be no mystery left to his character. Sure, his character will still possibly be complex and possibly interesting but it kind of brings down the mystery in it, if that makes sense. I would rather be able to play as him in Dissidia and see him in the next (possibly final) Compilation title (which is supposedly to explain Genesis' cliffhanger in the Secret Ending of DoC) more than wanting a game centered around him to be completely honest. I wouldn't mind it but I would prefer the latter, this coming from a nutball fangirl of the One-Winged Angel LOL, but that's what I think. I doubt Square-Enix wouuld put a game like that out though XD.

You can experience Sephiroth's life by playing Sims 2 :lol:
Simphiroth!

But still, I kinda like your idea. ^_^

You don't have to play any of the FF7 compilations if you don't want to. Allen said it best.

Keep em coming square ;)

Personally I'd prefer them to spend time and money on either new concepts or ones that haven't had the life sucked out of them. I may not have to play them (and in some cases I haven't) but it's stopping them from making other games.

I'm also struck by the irony of people not wanting them to remake it 'because it would ruin the original' but want them to try and create crappy games, with a forced storyline (really, everything that was important, that they wanted to tell people was in the original, they never planned this) in the name of FFVII. Personally, that's ruining the original for me.

I'd like to see a sequel to DoC. Not a remale of FFVII either or the story of someone as Sephiroth.
Genesis awakes from his slumber, which means there is a new threat to Gaia. That would be nice if Genesis and Cloud join forces, along with the others and begin a new journey.
Also, there are things we don't know about; Like the background of Jenova, who is Minerva exactly and the battle of the Cetra before 2000 years.
That's why a sequel would be better.

Yeah, I'd want a sequel rather than a remake. Tie up all loose ends once and for all.

FF VII is my favorite, it has been since it came out, and I play them all. Alot of people hate it because it's popular but they can suck on a muther frikken Falcon Punch!

The Compilation is not a bad idea if carried out right. I don't care how many pieces of a story they make as long as it's presented well and...

Advent Children: Perfect example of style over substance. Nomura himself said that it was made to look cool , and he accomplished that. The movie was breathtaking to be hold but the glue that barely held its"Story?" together is getting weaker with time. Thankfully they are making Advent Children Complete, and with this they have a chance to shove a huge brick of STORY/BETTERDIALOUG up ACs @$$ and change it from something pretty to something meaningful and worthy of the FFVII logo

Dirge of Cerberus. The story was ok...but I would've rather just watched all the cut scenes. The gameplay was not worthy of the name. Playing this made Dante from the DMC series cringe. This is where most people started loosing there faith in the compilation and Square wasn't giving me much Ammo to defend them with. The introduction of Genesis was interesting though and I want to know where Square will go with him

Crisis Core. This is the best game on the PSP and the first AMAZING piece in the compilation. Everything was done correctly from gameplay, to music, to character developement, to fan-service(helping a guy name the seventh heaven),to the tear jerking story of friendship do's and don'ts 101. it also made me hate Aerith a little less since I found her...mildly appealing when she's around Zack. If squeenix can put this kind of effort into the next piece than the compilation will be saved and I can slep at night

That being said, I don't think I'd like to play a game just about Sephiroth. We learned a good deal about him in Crisis Core. As much as the haters don't like it, it's time for Cloud to mosey up, take the reins and ride this pony home with barrels blazing!

Sephiroth is still looming around, Tifa and Cloud haven't made babies yet, and Genesis is floating around somewhere. There is still a good story to tell and I hope they bring it full force. Square brings out a buldging but-load of games each year, so those who don't like the idea of the compilation have plenty of other choices in things to play:D

p.s. The remake will bring sexy back:wub:

I'd love a new compilation game but they really have to stop worrying about fan reactions so much and just make something good. So long as they slap VII at the end of it people will buy it in droves, DON'T BE SO SAFE.

If they want to make a sequel, don't do an Advent Children, stir it up a bit. Have some character development rather then just fan service, have the team come together, have some people fall out, have new party characters, finally decide if Cloud is going to get with Tifa (they totally should, omg).

Give us some new enemies, VII was brilliant because you had Sephiroth as this impersonal impressive figure of teh doomz, but then you had the very understandable tyranny of Shinra. AC was just pretty silver haired people flying around trying to kill each other.

They ain't gonna do any of this of course, let's just wait for FFVII: Emu's Legacy. Where an Emu has to defeat Sephiroth.
