That tickled my fancy.
It instantly struck me as fucking cool, seemed like the old, better days of FFVIII.
Wizzing swords and the cool cinematography (wins because my word is bigger than yours).
Is that honestly a good thing Ghenrik?! Honestly?! I'm imagining hidden renders of Goofy secrety hidden on walls :p

No, that would be a Baaaad thing.:P
I'm talking about the cinematics, the dark theme, the magic shield against bullets. It just reminded me so much of KH.^_^ And that's a good thing^_^
On the other hand. I was waaay behind in line for a Wii. It was not even worth waiting for the store to open. They had already given out linetickets to other people.

Lets have some analyzing fun, shall we?
There is nothing either good or bad,
but thinking makes it so.
˜˜William Shakespeare
Emo dude (so many people call him emo) is a bad guy, hated buy the soldiers, yet we will cheer on him. So he's an anti-hero.
An isolated nation protected by an ancient line of kings.
A modern civilization alive with
the Crystal's songs of swords and sorcery.
So he is the last kink to protect some land or some magic dimension. A modern civilization that depends on the crystal to survive. And his ability to control swords come from that crystal.
A lone kingdom fighting to forestall
the outer world from imposing its heretic order.
The struggle for the final Crystal is
merely a prologue to the chronicles of a new era.
Its a lone king for sure inside there. The other world supports my theory of a kingdom in another dimension. And they say the struggle for the Final Crystal is a weak prologue to a new era. Are they talking about FFXIII as the new era?
For the trailer itself:
We see a overview of the city. It's a rather large skyscraper in the middle that have the shades of the twin statues we see later.
He sits in his throne under a window. He waits. He waits some more. (or he's asleep) He opens his eyes and we see that they are brown and slightly changes to red. Then he gets out of the throne and walk out.
Outside we see the two statues folding hands with the emo dude walking out. Several dead bodies are spread around the floor. He look at them for a split second. The question is that they are his friends or "useless" guards. He sure had time to save them earlier. He looks upon the army. They are a bit confused, they thought they had them all. The protagonist walks with confident in himself against the army. The soldiers take aim. With no signal to stop, one of the soldiers fire. (it's not worth wasting your ammo when a single bullet can kill him) He sucks at aiming, but when the bullets hit the target, some blue shades of weapons blocks the bullets.
Now all the soldiers make fire at him. Its useless as several weapon comes fourth. He then summons 11 weapons around him and makes a small tornado of them. He pick a sword out of the storm and starts the engine on it
One of his eyes then glows red^_^ (he only need to take them out on half power)
The logo shows up, and then he goes back to sleep.^_^
Anyone got something to add or are against this theory?

They stole my idea of engine based swords. Well Square and Bandai, those bastards!
i think his hair shouldn't have it pointing up in the back or whatever leads people to think Sasuke. Let it just bowl down like the front.
Now seeing it in motion, he does remind me a little of Joachim from Castlevania: LoI. The half dress, unatural changing of eye color, and floating swords are uncanny! weeeee (http://castlevania.classicgaming.gamespy.com/Images/Scans/LoI/joachim.jpg)

LMFAO! XD That has got to be the best description on the trailer yet. I couldn't of worded it better :P ....the whole engine-sword thing is sooooo funny XD maybe it changes into a chainsaw like the lady in XIII has a gun/sword ...lol. (chainsaw massacre on knights who can't aim)Hahaha now I know where Tetsuya Nomura gets the idea of "sleep" from ^^ one thing that I thought was really cool was the water on the floor in the throne room. The palace must have a leak XD

Wow thats a great analysis :)
I never noticed the floor had water on it. Hmmm i wonder why it does. That engine powered sword does sound like it could grind people up :P Maybe this could be the first 18 rated FF : o and wow crystal powered sword, nice catch :P

Well thanks.:D
I did not see the wather either, but I think it comes in the same hole where the moon shines in.
Crystal power in the weapon. Maybe, but I have somehow got the impression that it is only one crystal in these games. Could be some gasoline in that tube.

Well I don't believe in truely one crystal. In FFXI there are the five mothercrystals and then there are little useable ones. The mother crystal sounds like what he is trying to protect and we know crystals are used in everday life(well in FFXIII at least).

Part of three Final Fantasy XIII games from Sqaure-Enix, Versus is the story of a young king sworn to defend the last crystal in the world from the "hectic order" outside of his kingdom. It's a fight between ancient and modern techonology, and the struggle of one king to protect the old ways.
So yeah, I've read what most people probably have, which is he is a lone king, the last in his dynasty and he is protecting his kindgom from invaders of sorts, since his kingdom is the last with crystals.
It will also be more action-based, or so I've read, probably much like Kingdom Hearts, since it is the same team. -nods- But Tetsuya does the character designs of most Final Fantasy games, so it could also have a chance to be somewhat like Dirge of Cerberus, too, but we shall see.
Either way, he has been the header for my journal and the wallpaper on my desktop for some time, since he is so beautiful and hot. <3

Welcome to the forums, Tifa. :)
The battle system is being made by the KH team, but SE have said that it will not be an advance or improvement KH battle system, but something totally different.
I really really wanna see x.x

I hope for something different because even though I do enjoy Kingdom Hearts, the fighting became rather redunant for me and I would expect something a bit more than that on the PS3! Something amazing and involved, especially after how amazing the fighting in FFXII has been. I love it, so I have high hopes! I am sure it will be amazing!
I also read that he has those weapons on him at all times and can take them out at will.
Another description is -
The game focuses on a mysterious protagonist, the last heir to a dynasty ruling the only remaining city in the world to control crystals who under unforeseen circumstances, is forced to make a stand when his kingdom, people and it's crystals comes under attack from marauders that would conquer the city and take the crystals as their own.

Thank you for the same information we had for about half a year.
Him being a Heir, could even mean he is more of a prince and haven't rightfully succeeded because of the recent death of the last ruler.

I hope you can "change" weapons. It would be a bit boring to keep the same ones at all times. If we follow a typical upgrade in games I guess we have 1 or 3 weapons in the beginning. It will be awesome if we have a tornado of weapons around us and switch between them. I enjoyed the gameplay in KH, bit too much bashing at X before the retraction system.
They have to make use of the motion sensor during battle. Think like this, KH2 gameplay style, with motion sensor and a dozen keyblades at the same time :D
Desi
Dec 10 2006, 02:37 AM
I can definitely see the weapon selection system being used as a tactic. The selection is probably like the weapon reel/wheel from Drakengard but instead of freezing the game during picking the weapons you have equiped spin at a rapid pace basiclaly putting up a defense wall lowering damage you take while choosing. Basically a shield but not keeping you safe from all harm(would be to cheap).
Him being royalty it wouldn't make sense for him to buy weapons. First off, he controls this nation and wouldn't use peasant equipment. Having custom made weapons or improving the ones he already has makes the most sense. Gifts to his family from others makes sense as well.
Motion sensing is an interesting topic. A common use would be for reactions to certain things. swords clashing, button-timed scenes, and um...interrogation.....etc etc.

I don't think he has a family. I think he is the only one left. The lone heir to the Dynasty. But, yes, upgrading his present weapons would sound the best, as they are magical and the like. He is so hot. I love adding that in there.

That is why it would make more sense for him not to have attained the title king yet. He needs to take control of the current situation. I don't just see with this sudden invasion that we can guess "killed off some of his family" has allowed him the time to take his rightfully place as king.

But that brings us back to the dead people outside. What position do they have in his royal place  relatives?
If we add a twist to it, we could say his family was the evil one and wanted to use the other world kingdom for something bad. And he wanted to stop it by the only way possible, letting his family be killed.

I think the ones laying outside dead are just gaurds but I don't know there isn't to much info to say anythings right or going in the right direction yet...hopefully another trailer will give us more on the sotry. As for me I think he's still a prince or maybe he could be a king ....god I dunno.

I think the dead people outside are the guards. He looks pretty depressed on that throne and looks like he's lost all hope so I assume they were all trying to defend him.
If there is only one crystal supposidly and theres one in his sword, could it be possible that that is the only crystal. Maybe what the soldiers are looking for is that crystal. I mean if it can power the swords and do all that fancy stuff I'm sure anyone would want something that powerful.
