Okay so FFIII and FFIV have DS remakes. What do you guys think of and FFV remake?

As Allen said, I don't think revamping the game graphically will make it any better, FF7 is one of those games.
Unless they made a better battle system, some gameplay tweaks, wadda wadda. Ah yes, and perhaps fill-in some stories, such as the Crisis Core's. I wouldn't want a completely identical story remake.

FFV is really IMO a game thats about gameplay more than story. I really love job systems. And ExDeath was awesome, but Gilgamesh was better.

If there is any Final Fantasy Square should bother remaking, it's VI.

I definitely think that they'll remake Final Fantasy V on the Nintendo DS, as it looks as if they're building up to a Final Fantasy VI remake; or at least that's what a lot of fans want.

I doubt that it'll go to a home console, like someone suggested; primarily because the idea of remaking the legacy series on Nintendo DS was to add a little more innovation to the games. Though I'm pretty sure that they took stylus play out of Final Fantasy IV DS, so maybe not - I sitll think that the touch screen was definitely one of their reasons for choosing the DS over say; the PSP.

Then we would want voice acting and cutscenes, and as I mentioned earlier Neo ExDeath would probly take up alot more space then Zeromus. They'd also have to add sidequest. IMO the PSP would be better.

I'm pretty certain they'll remake up to VI, probably VII and I hope they'll do VIII and IX too. I want a VI remake more than anything because it hasn't aged well at all. I tried playing the PS version but the five hour loading times whenever you got into a battle were too much for me. The opening was sooo good as well :(

Looks like you're under-estimating the Nintendo DS, the cartridges can actually hold a lot of data.

The majority of Nintendo DS games use a 128KB cartridge, with bigger games; like Square Enix ones taking up a 256KB cartridge. This is nothing though, in comparison to the card that Daigasso! Band Brothers DX used; which was a 8MB cartridge. That's like what, 25 times bigger? That's like 32 times bigger than the cartridges used for the majority of Square Enix Nintendo DS games.

So really, the Final Fantasy V could easily be remade on the Nintendo DS.

They are remaking Chrono Triger now. I am almost sure they are going go to remake FFV for DS after Chrono Trigger. FFVI is going to be remade someday, i think it will be nice not in DS bir in the next nintendo portable(not comfirmed). FFV is my favourite ff ( no joke)

There's something about VI that just feels like t should be played on a wider screen like the PSP, and with slightly more mature graphics.

Would a game as big as VI fit easily on the system in full 3D?

Lose it's beauty with DS graphics? It was just a bunch of text in a box against a very basic, pixellated 2D background in the original! The DS can only be a step up.

I would love a DS remake for it!! i really enjoyed it to be honest, and it was fun thinking of how to do my final party set-up, in relations to combining a few great set of skills on a non selected Job character at the end.

Overall, definitely a great system for the Jobs, awesome gameplay, and overall..Just plain fun.

:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol: I've never heard someone hold V over VII/VIII in any aspect since in my opinion it's possibly the most generic jumbled up mess of a final fantasy to date...but to each his own. I make fun of V constantly but I'd still buy the remake, hopefully they'd clean it up and smooth out the edges. I'm sure they won't skip it, and make both V and VI, then they can get to the VII remake like they should^_^

I think that the remake is inevitable. Final Fantasy I and Final Fantasy II are on PSP, and Final Fantasy III and Final Fantasy IV are on the DS. It would make perfect sense that a remake is planned.

ffv remake? nah. it's already good as it is. people don't need good graphics to enjoy that game. it's its job system that makes it really fun. 6 would be nice though.

oh and don't you guys think it's about time that they remake the ffs from the psx like ffviii or ffix? not sure where they should port it but if they do, i'll be the first to buy a copy.

I've played 6 and I feel it is just fine on the advance. It couldn't hurt to do V because its like the only important one to me, I haven't played.

Nope, but they need to put VI on the 360/PS3. Playing through that, completely re-imagined in (detailed) 3D... it would be glorious.

I agree tat a remake of FFVI on the 360/PS3 would be a beautiful thing, but I honestly don't think tat anything but the graphics would be complimentary. I think the DS graphics they've used for the current FF remakes on DS would be much more suitable for FFVI.
This may just be my personal bias overruling my judgment seeing as I only have a PSP and a DS right now, but I don't think so :cookie:

Can't agree, I'll say it's your bias I guess ;). The CG renders for FFVI on PS1 were amazing, and are what really makes me want to see that game in 3D on a console since the PS3/360 could get pretty close to matching that quality (with improved textures so it's no so "flat").

10+ year old CG has me sold on this game for a current generation console (or next gen!). It would work on the DS, but I think for this game it would work so much better on a console.

Haven't played FFV, so I can't really comment on it.

I hope they remake FFV but I'd rather they give it the full remake treatment by putting it on console rather than handheld.
