I've been working a lot on my 3D skills lately (shameless plug: see my topic in fan art section ^_^) and I just decided to google jobs at square enix for the fun of it.
I found NA Square's job listing page. Generally, I wouldn't even care about working for Square Enix NA since they deal mostly with translation, but they had a link to a special page.

Apparently Square is looking for employees for Square Visual Works, their visual effects team that is responsible for their game cinematics and Advent Children.
It closes on the 27th though. I don't know who here actually has a knack for 3D graphics, computer programming, animation or whatever but I thought I'd post it anyway just in case anyone here is like me and would love to one day work at Square [Visual Works].
Hopefully they'll still have jobs open a few years from now haha.

I think they might like people with experience in the industry, which I doubt many members here have.

That all depends, really. Most of the time, VFX Houses have "such and such years of experience required" on their job app sites, but in actuality, they really don't care how long you've been in the industry. They do it to discourage any untalented folk from wasting their time by applying. They prefer quality over anything else. At least that's how most vfx and animation houses here in the US are. It's why so many people get hired at places like Pixar, Dreamworks, Blue Sky, etc. right out of college (if they're talented enough).
Still, either way, I know most people here aren't that experienced yet. Just posting for interest in the topic. I know lots of people are amazed by Square's cinematics.

What I find strange is the fact that it's their NA division hiring. I'm not up to date on the goings on of Square America but what would a visual effects artist do there?

Edit: nevermind that theory. I just looked at the job description page and it's located in Tokyo. They're probably just having their NA division advertising the positions for any Americans willing to move over there and work for them.

I was wondering about that too, actually. I figure, maybe "Square Visual Works" could possibly be part of their NA division? So Square Enix JP would just have Visual Works do the cutscenes, while the JP division works on the actual game? I have no actual basis for that, though. As a matter of fact, this is the first time I'm hearing about Square Visual Works. All this time, I thought Square JP did everything, or just outsourced their cinematics to a third party vfx company like other games (ex. Blur Studio). I wish they'd provide more info about that part of the company...

Even with professional experience they may be bums and only hire fans that apply from Famitsu. A great translator on Blue Gartr didn't get the translation job that was open.

I wouldn't count Americans or foreigners out. Like I said, most vfx and animation houses' main concern is quality over anything else. And actually, Japan doesn't have the best graphics artists in the world. America actually is one of the top leading in game graphics and visual effects (things related to 3D), along with certain places in Canada.
So as long as the foreigner is really talented, they should have a chance. I doubt Square will pay for them to move to Japan or whatever but hey, sacrifice. Plus, it wouldn't make any sense at all that they weren't looking for foreigners when the job posting was translated to English. If they were only looking for Japanese artists, there would be no need for Square to post it on the English site.

Well i'm a Freshman in High School and i'm going to/am now taking computer programming classes the whole 4 years in HS (since it's always been my dream to be a video game designer for SE or tri-Ace and one of the main reasons why I want to learn Japanese now). ^_^
