Since this is a compilation like the FFVII one. Would there be a movie as well based on the main game?

I kinda hope the will not be one, but i'm not against it entirely, i mean FFVII had an open ending so i wanted to know what happened next but i can't be sure about this one as i have not played it yet. This is not like the FFVII one as each game will take place in a different place and they have no ties to each other besides the crystals where as all the FFVII titles take place next to each other and are in the same world.

All of the games so far are unrelated with the exception of the Mythology and universe...they could do a movie that stands alone in the same way and im actually expecting there to be a movie or anime of some sort.

It's possible but fitting the entire story of a Final Fantasy into a movie without any prequels to help would be hard. Spirits Within suffered from that. I think an Anime would be a better route to go but FF Unlimited was pretty bad....except for the credits.

Well a CG movie completely unrelated to any of the games doesnt need to have a huge story backing it...just a flashy CG movie...Im shure Square would have no problem with that

Well...not sure how confident they would be doing that again. Nah it doesn't require an epic story but I think many fans would expect one.

^Well we pretty much got that xD

I was expecting a movie IF it had an open ending that is like a sequel. Now if they ever do one I think it might just be a completely new one.

if they're succesfull then yes definately, i havn't played the games so i don't know yet.

They can bring as many CG FF movies as they want, I would enjoy them.

Square might be bad at anime, but you gotta remember - they're with Enix now. As far as I'm aware, Enix are responcible for Fullmetal Alchemist.

Fullmetal Alchemist was definitely one of my favourite animes, probably one of the best ever made imo. If Enix can make a FNC anime at the same quality as FMA, I'm all for a FNC anime.

I think that they could, and probably will do a movie eventually. It's hard to say atm though, guess we'll have to wait and see.

Seeing as I've seen Advent Children all I can say is... PLEASE GOD NO. I don't want to see another film with only a passing attempt at narrative punctured by fight scenes every 8 seconds.

Advent Children wasn't planned though, so of course it's gonna be a half arsed narrative. If it was planned from the very start, it could've been amazing - like a FNC movie could be amazing.

What I mean is, Final Fantasy VII was released without a sequel in mind; so making a good narrative is always going to be awkward.

I agree it was probably the whole pointless sequel thing and also the fact that there was no character development because they didn't want to 'ruin' VII, so we just got random cameos.

However part of me does feel that they'd develop all this pretty new CGI and they won't be happy just to use it to create good facial animations and movements to covey feeling and yadaa yadda yadda, nah they'll mainly just use it so some guy can fling himself around on a sword for 90 minutes.

Well, Sprits was too much story, and AC is too much action. Surely if they make another one, they will get it right.

Well, to me AC wasn't so much a movie as just a continuation of the characters' lives. It just seemed to be meant to wrap up their lives.

Élan (http://finalfantasy-xiii.net/forums/member.php?u=1022), thats the exact reason I didn't like it. It was so unrealistic (narratively I mean, before any smartass goes on about 'well people can't fly about and use magic and blahblahblah!'). Two years can't pass as well huge events drawing people together without SOMETHING happening to them.

It reminded me of those reunion shows that pop up from long discontinued TV shows; pointless, grubby and totally unneeded

To be honest as long as it has a good concept, a FNC film would be able to avoid all these pitfalls, seeing as it will have new characters and such. Still don't trust them though

i debut if they will, they had some many projects now started, besides ff13 wont be so popular as 7, so there is no point

I presume he'd mean the opening and closing animations (and perhaps their accompanying music)?

But on topic, that depends. Is it going to look good but otherwise be, at best, average? Or will it totally blow my socks off in all aspects?

You never know. To me, right now it looks like it's going to be amazing and even surpass VII (I have a feeling)

Yeah, your right Shuyu. It always depends on how amazingly popular the game will be.

Most likely average.

If the game is popular anyway, instead of a movie, would it not make sense to make a sequel?

Even though X-2 was trash.

As much as I'd love to have a sequel.. I have a fear they'll kill the game if it's as popular as VII or even more.

Ventus
Aug 11 2008, 05:05 AM
Well yes if the game is a success and becomes really popular. Fans may demand for a sequel and perhaps they'll grant them just that, only through a movie. But yes that also raises concern that if this movie will either raise or lower FFXIII's popularity. Then again it would be cool, they were always good when it came to climactic and intense fighting scenes.

Well The Spirits Within sucked IMO. It didn't have people fighting, and it shouldn't be called Final Fantasy. The main character couldn't even fight.

To you maybe. Some people loved it. It finished the story and gave me that happy ending I really wanted.

I doubt they'll make a movie with an independent storyline and try to release it theaters with the way Spirits Within bombed there
