FFXIII Dev Progress.

Hey Guys,

New to the forums :D As I just read the new news about Xiii and the different interviews, It was stated that they have started Japanese voice casting. I'm not 100% on the specifics about game development timeline (as it differs from company to company) but voice casting seems to be something that is done far into the project.

I was just wondering if anyone can shed some light on this? Xiii may not be too far off at all :D All feedback is cool.

Old, news, sorry... (: They have just started the casting, I believe it takes a while to finish, and then to start recording.

voice casting and acting is usually something that is started when the script is complete...the script is one of the things that is completed early on in development so im afraid FF13 is not as far along as you would think..actual development of the console version (PS3) has not actually begun yet, but its getting started on PC and soon will start building the game on PS3. Thankfully once that process has begun, development should progress quite dramatically.

they have to get the script, find voice actors recod them, then they have to build the game on the pc then to port it to the system, so there is still a ways to go unto it is completed

They said they were finished with the story so I'm guessing the scenes are all finished... they probably still have to do stuff like animate the facial expressions and do the lip synching since they usually refer to the voice actors actual faces for that.

I'm guessing FFXIII will probably come on spring of 2009 or at the winter of 2010. In my opinion, I think it would be released in the winter of 2010. Since, sales will be much higher if they put out the game on the Christmas holidays then in easter.

Thanks for all the feedback guys ! That's dissapointing :( But if i'm right (Which im probably not:P) Crystal tools is built and mostly finished so building/porting (PS3) Xiii should be quick.

If anyone has any idea, Is this building stage of a project generally a quick one ?

I wonder who will be the voice casting for the english version of FFXIII. Does anyone have any ideas?

No so far we don't as we do not even know who will be casting for the Japanese one yet don't hold me to this though and i have a few ideas who will be chosen for the english and japanese version but these are mainly people who i think portrays the character the best but i can only speculate on Lightning as i do not know enough about the other characters personality
