Idea stolen, yes I know...but I think XIII deserves some lovin to
Any ideas or suggestions on who'd do Lightning's voice? or any of th other character's voices?
Well seeing as she's most likely in her early to mid 20's and "has muscular legs and doesn't cry" she'd probably have somewhat of that masculine woman voice, if you understand what I'm saying
As for the red headed gal, she's I'm thinking, mid teens so something KINDA like Yuna's maybe...
and the blonde guy he's probably like 30 so something like Michael Madson? Perhaps?
:cookie:
I'm thinking she'll have a more calm, collected and mature voice like Mokoto Kusanagi from Ghost in the Shell (not the first movie, but SAC). Not necessarily that voice actor, however, but someone like her; since they have similar personality traits/backgrounds.

I think Mr. 33cm will sound like Christian Bale. :aldo:
Steve Burton looks like Christian Bale and therefore I thought he would be a good voice actor for Cloud, but I was disappointed, so no Christian Bale. That logic doesn't make sense. :(
No, he'd have to sound a bit younger maybe...Christian Bale's voice is too suave and too deep.

I could play his voice. If he spoke like a human and not in constant shouts or erratic emotion changes.

Heh, I think you are still unemployed then. :cookie:
And I think Bale would make a fine 33cm. D8

I don't think 33cm would cry...
So who do you think should do his voice then?

Lavar Burton? Is that who you were thinking of?
Lightning needs to have a great voice to match her personality. A voice like Rikku's or Aerith's is not going to work with Lightning. I will need to think of whose voice would work.

I'm thinking Lightning's voice will be like Ashe's only a bit warmer. Very feminine, but with a rough, scratchy quality.

None! I want her to be MUTE!
If she does have a voice, I want it to be quiet masquline. ^_^

Yum.... I mean yes! >_<

Jun 29 2008, 07:39 PM
haha yum, down girl
I think she (Lightning) will b e very quiet but I wouldn't want her to be mute...like almost mute but not mute
As for the red head bow wielder cutie, she's definitely in her teens (I hope) so something like Rikku except a little less high pitched.....Hmmm....
GrimReaperXIII
Jun 29 2008, 07:52 PM
The "yum" is for Christian Bale's hotness in Howl's Moving Castle. :shifty: Okay, Howl himself is enough to make me weak, but that voice was hawwt...

I havent seen that movie yet but I really want to, it's the only Myazaki movie I havent seen *tear*
But I can't really see anyone else who'd fit the voice except for...oh...hm...I dont know a professional voice actor like from XII, call me crazy
GrimReaperXIII
Jun 29 2008, 08:29 PM
XII did have really good quality actors, no matter what other people say.
Their voices/bodies may have been stoic, but nobody has over-the-top faciel expressions/body language like in the other FFs in real-life.
And no -breathing- into the mike. ....I hate it when Ashe sighs; it makes me want to pull my hair out. It's like nails on a chalkboard (for me).

Well, Debi Mae West (Meryl) isn't the most feminine voice out there. But sure, we need a real tomboy for her role.
But Mr. 33cm...it's GOTTA be good ole' Arnold! I'll be back!

Taylor Hannah for Lightning. From what I've seen Lightning seems like the Lia de Beaumont type from the anime Le chevalier D'eon.
I think Christopher Sabat would be a good choice for Mr. 33 cm. If anyone heard him as Kikuchiyo in Samurai 7.

The girl who did Re-l's (English) voice for Ergo Proxy; she would be awesome for Lightning.
I can't think of anybody else. I don't know many voice actors. I'd might be able to think of other voice actors if I knew the personalities of Mr. 33cm and Ponytails Girl.

It's Karen Thompson if I'm not mistaken, but that sounds a bit to young I think, Re-L is 19 and Lightning I'm sure is older, I get where youre coming from but I don't know, I don't think it's fit
And yeah I agree on the red head and the blonde guy as for their voices

Jennifer Hale is her name and she would be a good voice for Lightning. She also provided the voice of Naomi Hunter in the Metal Gear Solid series.
The woman who did the voice acting in silent hill 2 for Maria maybe, she was amazing.

lol. Well, if any thing like with the case of FFX and FFXII. Then we'd be receiving the usual anime voice actors. With possibility of;
Vic Mignogna (Junpei Iori of P3)
Kari Wahlgren (Ashe "Banalgan" Dalmasca of FFXII)
Michelle Ruff (Rita Mordio of ToV) etc...
Jennifer Hale is her name and she would be a good voice for Lightning. She also provided the voice of Naomi Hunter in the Metal Gear Solid series.
Lol, edit: I suggested her without reading that she was already suggested. But yeah, I think Jennifer Hale would be good for Lightning. She's got an amazing range and a great voice to boot. She could pull it off.

That may or may not be because, they're, you know, acting.
Now, the fangirl in me says Mary Elizabeth McGlynn for Lightning. Because I'm a tool. And as stated, fangirl.

Either that or Blum would be perfect as well. Because he tends to change his pitch for the character's he voices. Like with Junpei (Digimon Frontier), Spike (C.B) etc...

I was thinking her too, but then I started to feel like, even though she's a great voice actress and is perfect for someone like the Major, it would be a little too mature sounding, too stern, too...proper, I guess? I don't know how to explain it.

I watched a movie called Aeon Flux yesterday (Well, half-watched) and the actor that plays who I assume is the main character has a deep voice that would suit Lightning very well.

Really? I think Jules de Jongh (she does Faith's voice in Mirror's Edge) would be cool for Lightning's voice. Plus, she's not a big Hollywood star so she would have more chance of going up for the part.

Lightning isn't exactly muscular, so I dunno why everyone thinks she is. :/
She's toned, but there's a fine line between toned and muscular........muscular is more the incredible hulk, or the real life equivalent; Arnold Scwarzenegger.
Anyway, a good voice for her could be Kate Beckinsale in my opinion, but usually they have random voice actors that people haven't ever heard of, or they use their already existing voice actors a lot, such as Quinton Flynn as an example, who I'm sure the majority of you know, voiced Reno and Axel.
For Vanilla, I have no idea. She looks around 18 years of age to me, so someone with quite a nice young voice I guess. Who that could be, I have no clue.
Sean William Scott would be awesome for Snow though, haha. He just seems like he's gonna have some comical relief thrown into his personality.

a good voice for her could be Kate Beckinsale
Seconded, I never really imagined her with a british accent but it fits, someone like Beckinsale or Rhona Mitra would be perfect, I could see that uptight upper classness to her a little. But if we're sticking american I'd say whoever did the voices for Heather and Eileen from the silent hill series would be a good fit, I wanna say Heather Morris but I might be wrong.
I think Sarah Michelle Gellar trying to sound all optimistic and bouncy would do a good vanille, and while we're aiming high, Leonardo DiCaprio for Snow.
Fuck it mix it up a little and have Mickey Rourke as Lightning, everyone else as chipmunks, I'd buy it.

Lighting is female and should sound female. Not a deeper voice wouldn't be too bad. But she still is pretty so a nice voice would be cool. Kate Beckinsale would be awesome for Lighting for sure. She is a kickarse actress :).

Sarah Michelle Gellar probably would be good for her to be honest. Not so sure about Dicaprio though. :S
May sound funny, but I actually think Joey from Friends would be good for Snow on a serious level. His real name's Matt LeBlanc or something I think.

Oh my god *fapfapfap* That... I can't even describe how happy that would make me. He was damn good in Howl's Moving Castle. I don't know if he could really do urgent/passionate though, which is the impression I get of Snow. (Tee hee, American Psycho)

Lulz, Eddie Murphy.
Next thing you know Sazh would be talkin' to animals and become severely obese.
Oh lawd, if Samuel L. Jackson played Sazh then I'd always imagine Sazh being in Snakes on a Plane or something of the sort as I'm playing ffxiii. That would be amusing though.
Well, as they don't get a white guy or a guy with a dirty south accent to do Sazh's voice then I guess I'm fine.

Bale is a terrible choice, too serious and why does he sound constipated in every movie he's in now? Bale would ony suit an Auron/Basche type and Snow looks like a bit of a smartarse.
I really hope they don't turn Sazh into some cliché eddie murphy/chris tucker/sam jackson type iconoclast. There are plenty of inetlligent sounding black actors out there, someone like Forrest Whittaker or Chiwetel Ejiofar's(guy from serenity) voice would suit him perfectly.

In all honesty I hope they rock an all unknown cast. Voices we haven't heard before but rock extra solid. It would take some mad casting magic, but I believe they can do it. I just think
A. Newbies should have a chance to strut their stuff
and
B. I'm tired of hearing the same voices, even the really good ones. One of the reasons I was so psyched about them using Steve Burton for Cloud and George Newburn for Sephiroth is because I don't hear their voices everywhere(although I hear Newburn more than Burton) and ( to me) they still fit very well
I could list of 50 great voice talents to go with these characters, but in the end, I'd like this game to feel completely funky fresh
...that being said, I highly doubt that will happen. Prepare for some Blum, Freeman, Whalgren action kids<_<
Wandering Hands
Jan 23 2009, 05:55 AM
Keep Wahlgren the fuck out of my Final Fantasy, thanks.
The problem with getting relatively new and unknown voice actors is that they probably don't have anything big on their resume that's really appealing. When casting voice acting projects like these, it's about experience, just like any other job.
To pre-empt the obvious "but they might do really well in the audition", yes they might, but because they are unknown, there's no way of telling if they'll actually be able to sustain it through those long, lonely recording sessions.
Or maybe we should just let Chaos Wars happen again.
Don't get me wrong, I'd like for someone to experiment with some different people, but not on this. Ooh! Let them do it for Versus! Hopefully they'll suck and I'll have another reason to shit on the fangirls.
