Music In Final Fantasy X

I loved the music in Final Fantasy X and almost am convinced that great music makes a game. Suteki da ne and to zanarkand are awesome songs!

No great music makes a CD (or iPod thing, whatever you kids do thesh daysh). However it can contribute to a game being a great.


I'm ambivalent about X's soundtrack. Had some good pieces, had some dull pieces.

I thought it was great. Slightly repetitive, as some pieces were different reditions of Suiteki da ne, or the Hym of the Fayth, but overall, a great collection of music. It's not for casual listening (for me anyway) but in-game it sounds amazing. :D

We all know when it comes to piano, Uematsu kicks ass. But the music's quality didn't quite suit the game and sounded like it could still be for PlayStation. I can't say much for the southeastern asian tracks but I do question why they'd have Zanarkand's theme for a few of the stages where they're not currently headed for Zanarkand.

I listen to "To Zanarkand" almost every night. It's part of my playlist of sleep music. I need it to go to sleep don't ask me why. A few songs from X are on there as well. And there are some OC Remixes of X songs that are fantastic but the songs are great by themselves as well.

To Zanarkand is really good, but there are other pieces of music which I prefer, one being AT Zanarkand.

^ Via Purifico is really good! It also reminds me of a sort of lighter, less dark Rhythm of Immortality. It's probably one of the best written pieces of the game in terms of how well it fits with its area :)

Yuna's theme is kinda relaxing and suits her really well. Same goes to Semour's theme, it depicts his evilness quite aptly, doesn't it?
Sadly Tidus' theme appears to be a bit blandish and boring.
How about your favourite version of the song of the prayer? ^^ The one from macalania temple was the most charming imo.

Seymour's theme also sounds similar to Rhythm of Immortality (Kuja's Theme). I think it's properly introduced when he turns evil officially in Macalania temple.

Llone, you're right. Tidus' theme is a tiny bit weak, still quite nice though. The variation on the Prayer of the Fayth? I think the best one is during the ending credits :)

I love To Zanarkand! I was so obsessed I actually learnt how to play it on the piano. The ending theme and Suteki da ne are gorgeous too!

Personally I prefer the Vietnamese version. I love her voice!

I am surprised I have spread my taint in this thread as well. Not a fan of the X music other then Otherworld, Besaid Island, to zackland, and the hymn that goes on throughout the whole game. I own the X piano Collections too. Really only listen to a few tracks on average.

It's soundtrack wasn't the greatest, plenty of other Final Fantasy games stuck out way more than this, in my opinion. It only had a few songs I cared for, On to Zanarkand being one of them.

To Zanarkand is an amazing piece. I really like listening to that song as well, cant get tired of it. Especially Path to Repentance. Nobuo Uematsu never ceases to amaze me. His music is great.

When I first heard Other World I was thinking... this isnt Final Fantasy, this cant be. FF also offers something more classical and soothing than this. But its still a good song none the less. It always reminds me of how badass Auron & Jecht were whenever I listen to it.

Summoned Beast Battle is another one of my favorite FF boss songs. Very powerful. And thats good to hear that he'll be taking part in FFXIII. The people who were also responsible for FFX will be taking part in the production of FFXIII as well. To me, thats a plus.

The music in this game is absolutely beautiful, the best I've ever heard. Sometimes when I'm on the PC and don't feel like listening to whatever's on the radio, I put on FFX and go to the sphere theatre. There're 71 buyable tracks in total, and it's almost impossible to pick between them. Some of them evoke different moods, making you sorrowful, joyful, angry or just frustrated. My favorites, in order they're listed in the threatre;

- Phantoms
- Yuna's Theme

Agreed. It does sound like Kuja's theme "Rhythm of Immortality". But like you guys said great music (especially themes like "Attack" and "Summond Beast Battle" which greatly match there respective places well.

I think the music matched the game as far as I percieve it. As other people have said in the thread, some of the music is repetitive but some of the songs can be beautiful on a violin or piano.

FFX's music is pretty good in general..Can't say I'm recalling any particularly bad or boring pieces though.

I'm not sure if I found any as bad to be honest..oh well.

There where some good samples.. I DID LOVE THE BATTLE THEME.. it was just amazing. one of the best battle themes in any ff game... But it`s not nearly as good as FF7 Boss Theme.
