Question for people who cosplay...

For those of you who cosplay, I was wondering if you could explain why you do it. I was hoping for answers that explain it a little deeper than just "it's fun." If you feel it is fun, then could you explain why? I would just like to know what drives everyone to go through all the blood, sweat, and tears it takes to pull off a great cosplay. This question may be considered a bit philosophical in nature. :)

To show all the others how to do it. The more in-character to me, the better. I've seen cosplays that were lame and pretty half-assed. Like, really lame. Sure, my cosplay this year was half-complete but at least I don't try to make the character be fused with original touches. *seen gothic lolita miniskirt KH Axel* >.>
