fuckin dodgy connection <.<;
okay so heres the thing. As of late, my comp refuses to load, I get this blue screen which says something about the boot being corrupted. It later says I should make sure any new material I've installed is fit correctly, but thing is I haven't tried to install anything! I cant even get into safe mode. I can however, get into the setup right at the beginning when you turn on your comp. I'm really not into things like this and am totally lost, and calling a technition atm isn't an option.
Surely I wouldn't have to format ;; I cant afford to lose all my PSD arts and stories which I stupidly didn't backup and WILL be needing in the future.

Thats the blue screen of death. :aldo:
I suggest you either take it to a computer store and tell them about your problem, or open up your computer, detatch then reatatch your HDD. It usually does the trick. ROFL. Well for me. :cathryn:

One time I had to figure out how to open my toshiba laptop, so I googled my specific laptop type and was able to figure it out pretty easily. Someone had posted pictures of how to take it apart step by step.

Yes.
If you know any small computer business's which arn't widespread. They are usually the best places to go. For unlike national business's they know their stuff. End of.
We have an old family friend which runs a personal computer business, and he upgrades and fixes my gadgets when needed, and he knows basically everything.
For this, they usually will completely clear your computer and then reboot it. But they will backup all your work and programs for you aslong as you say you want everything you have kept.
For myself, this cost around £180. But because my computer is totally riden with every deadily thing possible, this came back, but i think it was just due to the HDD being loose for i move my computer around alot.
It is quite costly, but they do fix the problems.

First off if the boot file is corrupted, then your already in trouble basically. There are some repair xp programs around that might be able to help but not sure how they actually work for your situation, just google a bit and you might found something.
If you can get to the Bios (hit delete or f10 to get to it, you will see it somewhere hopefully) Check if your hard drives are being recognised(Primary Slave/Secondary Slave) or if one of the IDE cables has become unlugged from the hard drive.
Plus, i would not go to a store and let them charge you $50 + when all they will do is format the computer and give it back when you can do it yourself in under and hour if you have the xp installation disc.

What it says exactly about the boot is this: UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_FILE. If I'm already in trouble, does that mean there's no way out...?
At any I totally do not have 180 just for a couple of prats to format my disk, like I said atm that's not an option. I will try googling like Callie suggested, then re-fitting my HD.
I tried doing this before (entering the BIOS, like someone else suggested elsewhere) but all I see is F2 for Setup and F12 for...something to do with BOOT, I think. I'll try again by smashing F10 like suggested Hypnotiq.

Well there is one more thing you can do. Run the xp installation disc and click Repair the installation using some recovery program.
Then pick the drive that has your xp files (C drive or whatever).
Should ask for you admin password (If you dont have one just press enter).
Then you should be able to type stuff. Type CHKDSK /R then press enter. basically it is searching your files and repairing them.
Type exit and press enter to restart the computer.
If you don't have the disc then this whole post is useless.
Moral of the story, buy a usb stick and put your valuables art/stories/drawings on there.
