Here (NL) it's common that parents do not want to know the gender of their unborn baby (they think of it as a pleasant surprise). But that way, they have to come up with both boy and girl names.

My name is Anouk, but if I were a boy my name would have been Youri.

Well...my parents wanted to call me Melody, but Victoria seemed like a much better fit. It means victory in Spanish, so it makes sense.
