Since i'm developing a campaign that is a loose mix of the FF universe and Exalted, I decided to make a little card game, inspired by the minigames that showed up in VIII-X. Using the theme of Light and Dark as a base, I called it Equlibrium.
NOTE: For the love of all that is holy, good, and win, PLEASE don't compare this to the likes of Magic, VS or any other high-ranking TCG i'm not thinking about. it's not intended to be such a thing.

THE CARDS

Cards in this game come in two varieties, Combatants and Advantages

Combatants are characters akin to creatures in MTG

Advantages are cards you use to aid your side or hinder your opponent's

Advantages come in 3 subtypes; Active, Passive, and Reactive

Active cards produce their effects and are then discarded, they may only be played during your turn

Reactive cards are played in response to a specific action made by your opponent, they may be played at any time (given the proper circumstance)

Passive cards have effects that last for an extended time, and may only be played during your turn (or at a certain time specified on the card).

The positive/negative number on the top shows how that card affects the morale score. In the case of Combatants: when they win a fight and wound/KO the opponent. In the case of advantages, when the effect takes place properly.

The 3 numbers in the triangle are as follows:
(Left number) Attack Value: how many die you roll for that combatant's attack

(Right Number) Defense Value: the number of successes an opponent's attacking combatant needs to successfully wound your combatant.

(Bottom Number) Reroll Value: After you do your initial roll, this is how many you times you can reroll 1 die. you may use these on the same die, but all count towards the limit of rerolls you have. (I.e. a combatant with a RRV of 3 can use 2 attempts on one die, but will only have 1 reroll attempt left)

The (+X/-Y) is the range that Combatant effects may be activated. In other words, the effect may only be activated when the morale score is within that range.

Rules of Play
TO BEGIN
Players begin with two Combatant Cards and four Advantage Cards. Placing the two combatants in play immediately.

Equilibrium’s turn structure is set up as follows:

•Reset Phase
•Preparation Phase
•Combat Phase
Declare Step
Initial Roll Step
Reroll Step
Resolution
•End Phase

Reset Phase: All relevant effects are resolved, and stats of surviving characters are reset.

Preparation Phase: Play any Advantages and/or Combatant abilities, relevant to this phase.
Combat Phase: Begin Battle

Declare Step: Both players declare which combatants will battle and against whom (this is decided simultaneously)
Initial Roll Step: For each battle, both characters roll a number of d6 equal to the Combat Value of the relevant character. Die which result in a 5 or 6 are “hits”.
Reroll Step: If any combatants have a reroll value of 1 or higher, you may reroll that many die. A single die may be rerolled more than once, but each one counts as one of your rerolls. Hits do not stack (i.e. you cannot use a reroll on a successful die to gain an additional Hit)
Resolution: Compare the total hits you have against the Defense Value of your opponent, if your total hits are:
Equal or Lesser than the target’s DV: Nothing happens
At least 1 greater: The target is wounded (flip it upside down) and you add or subtract from the Morale Score by the amount on your card.

If the target is successfully damaged and was already wounded, it is KOed (turn face down) and therefore out of the battle

End Phase: Remove any passive advantages from play, resolve any relevant effects.

TO WIN
Victory is achieved when the Morale Score is either +10 or -10, or when a players combatants are knocked out.
