My Chemical Romance?

Well, if I understand correctly, people either like the band "My Chemical Romance" or they hate them. I am just curious as to why on both sides. Personally, I like them, they are my favorite band. Also, I am only asking that because I am covering one of their songs "Vampires Will Never Hurt You", and I want to know anything I can do to make it better. I want the cover to be an enjoyable one. Anyway, opinions? I understand that probably no one cares and will not post... but I'm just hoping...

A lot of people love this band. I know a few who are so crazy about them for certain. I'm not really a frequent listener. I only listened to Dead! Helena and I don't love you. With that song..I'm not really sure what to say but perhaps you could cover something that many will find intresting.

Some people take things to far i think, but how can a band be that bad to make u wont to kill urself? i happen to be an mcr fan and i have all there cds, but hell there a limit to how far u should go with things these days.

That is pretty sad, but, to me, its just music. The lyrics should not effect you (unless you write the song, or it touches you for some reason :/). And if it touches you in a bad way (wanting to kill yourself and then actually doing it) you don't need to be listening to that music, period.

And in closing, I love MCR.

This thread is just screaming for a when i was chorus. To be honest, thats the only song i like from them, and thats just because of the hilarious intro and the slightly ok rest of track. The rest of their songs are just a bit "wharrgarbl loud noises".

Also i'm loving "[Emos] practise self-harm". Because you can never really be perfect at it.

Some of their songs from their album before the latest one was good. Their new stuff though, I don't really like to be honest. I liked Helena, and that single before Helena came out, but that's about it.

I find them a little bit too focused on image and setting some form of scene. Their music is OK, a lot of it's a bit weak at times though. Also, Gerard is a pretty awful singer live - I've seen them three times at festivals.

I like some of their songs, not all of them. I think they will be famous, but not for a long time. There are bands like them these day... They remind me of Tokio Hotel. I dont know why my friends like them :aldo:

It's quite obvious why the people who hate them do so - it's one of two reasons, either the association with the 'emo' subculture (lawl) or the fact that the vocalist sounds like death at times (and not in a good way, if that's even remotely plausible). For me, it's the latter. I could care less about the emo part - I listen to Billy Talent, for crying out loud. I just... dislike their music. Helena and Honey, This Mirror are good exceptions though.

MCR is not a representative of anything, I know a lot of emo kids who hate MCR and for the most part they're emo because of their parents. People who only read headlines have such a narrow matter of any issue that their opinion shouldn't even be valid (Cathryn). MCR is one of my favorite bands, and furthermore it's because of people like you that I'm a very strong atheist!

They're not my cup of tea but they do make good pop songs. They're about as emo as the spice girls though.
