View Full Version : I'm hurt, but I don't know how...

In gym class yesterday, I sensed a "pop" in my right hip joint while running like hell, and pain began when I stopped. My gym teacher said I most likely pulled my groin, but when we checked this at home, I hadn't pulled my groin, as it didn't hurt in a specific tendon. Also, the pop I felt was strange too. Can't be the femur that's broken near the top, as I can support my weight somewhat, and it can't be the hip either, as it doesn't hurt too much. What we're left with, is tendons and muscles. However, I still have full movement, though I hurts a little if I lift my right leg too far backwards.
It doesn't really hurt, but isn't exactly comfortable, and my walking is quite impaired (quit school today).
If someone's parents would be a doctor or some buddy's parents, help would be appreciated. If not, I'll have to get my instructor at the gym to have a look anyways.

Once in school I was in PE, and we wore these baggy shorts as part of our PE kit. We were doing gymnastics (LOL) and we had to do these jumps over a wooden horse thing. Once I did it and I heard a slap. Found it was infact my bullsack slapping my leg however it did not impair my walking.

Problem is, I didn't whack my stuff, but I was running and my hip went pop like nothing had happened. And guess what? It just got worse! I was about to take on my shoes, when it said pop again. I believe it may be a slight dislocation by now, since I now clearly felt this happened between my femur and my hip. But if it was a dislocation, it would probably hurt like hell...

Maybe you have iron balls which bruised on impact? Considering I'm not a doctor this is my closest conclusion to a medical explanation.

Its definitely not a hip dislocation
It could be a variety of things........
-If an inadequate amount of blood flow was reaching the bone, the cells will start to die and the bone may collapse. One of the most common places for this to happen is the hip bone.
-Was there also a snapping sensation? If so than it could be snapping hip syndrome-lulz at the diagnosis.Anyways The first distinct problem e is when the IT band snaps over the outside of the thigh.
-....continuing on...The hip flexor may have snapped over the front of the hip joint.
-The femoral head could have slipped with respect to the femoral neck<This is conman in adolescent boys :aldo:
For now I would suggest a walking stick to aid with movement :aldo:
Es my diagnoses helpful :aldo:

Very little probable, as I have a sort of tumor common with my genetic disorder located just nearby that draws so much blood I had to stop the growth in the knee end of my femur (epiphysiodesis) to prevent me walking with a major platform shoe on my left foot for the rest of my life, it was about 1.6 inches/4cm in left/right leg difference at operation.

It snapped, but felt more skeletal, like if it snapped in/out of place, at least the second time

No idea..........explain?

EDIT: After some googling, this seems to be the most likely thing to have happened to poor little me. It is either called Slipped capital femoral epiphysis or Slipped upper femoral epiphysis according to wikipedia.
Es my diagnoses helpful :aldo:
Thank you, helped a little.

She did at least come up with real stuff, but I'd like to know where she got that stuff.
Anyways, Dad's calling the hospital to get me back in, since I'm actually laid in due to a future operation to remove the tumor I mentioned, as it pure size is some discomfort, and if I shove my finger into it, I can enjoy the world of pain pretty close to having inflammation in my spinal tendons.

I dunno, it could be a dislocation that slipped back in again pretty much straight away, that happened to my knee a couple of years ago. *thanks god it went back in on its own accord*
Let us know how the hospital goes.
