Be gentle. I finally hacked Photoshop so I got busy right away but this is all I could muster with honestly knowing nothing except for a tutorial. It seems a little plain, but maybe it has potential.

It's a little noisy, it doesn't flow well, and I would assume I just used really basic stuff. But I guess fixing that will just come with practice.

Edit: Actually I am really beginning to not like it.

Hmm, perhaps removing the logo will do. Otherwise it'll seem like it's official or something. Copyright reasons. Other than that, perhaps bringing him into focus and doing something about the darkness around just so it can bring more focus to him.

I'm not very good myself http://finalfantasyversusxiii.net/forums/showthread.php?t=3505 but I'm still messing around with Photoshop ^_^

I say we should have Whiplash say something about it! :cookie:

I don't know how i can sound gentle with this but i'll try XD
Do be aware that this is my opinion, i've lost my signature skills and will try again after this post but...yea.

In the title you said input bad or good, I'll say it's bad. The colours aren't too bad it just needs more volume to it, the stock itself has a bad quality, the font colour choice doesn't match the look of the signature and it looks like it was just dumped there, same goes with the logo.

So uh, tips from me for that signature...I didn't, never ever used the cloud background feature because it kinda destroys the colours, unless used in a different blending mode. I would change the stock choice to something more crystal quality render, screen cap or official screens. The blending mode is a beauty, i use it a lot and I dunno...I kinda forgot my basics, so i'll stop there and try a abomination looking signature.

Well I'm pretty useless at making signatures and I'd like to say that yours is miles better than my first one :P

Yes, there we go ^_^ I agree with you, DA. It's fairly gentle to me.

Do you need help with getting screens, Hex?? I can help if you'd like ^_^

The biggest problem is that your stock (which, as DA mentioned, is really poor quality) should be the focus of the sig and it isn't. It's too faded and as a result the brushwork around the edges stands out the most, then the logo (which I would also dump). I suggest learning how to use the pen tool to get rid of the background of the stock or finding a render if you don't want it in the sig. If you do want it, dump the clouds and find an effect that works with the background, rather than against it. Font colour, placement and blending needs work and so does the general colouring of the sig. You may have already, but just for any future needs, download some brush sets for whatever version of PS you're using and a whole heap of different fonts in different styles. Don't be afraid to experiment and remember that this is all just my semi-coherent opinion.

Overall: bad, but better than the first sig I made so keep it up.

I was actually hoping for a lot of bads as weird as that sounds. Um thank you all though. most of the things you said were things i had pointed out myself, and i will have to get learning on some of the tools mentioned. And yes I have definitely been looking for more brushes. Yeah the image is an old attempt at trying to get a cooler head on pic of his face, and yes the original is very crappy that's why I tried to fade it in so much, and that was the old lower quality trailer I took it from. I hope I improve for my next one.

Duplicate Layer > Soft Light > low level Gaussian Blur > Opacity ~25% can improve the quality of stock.

It could still use tweaking I think, god I think I'm becoming addicted. The text is too light so I will probably delete it and do it again. I think I want a glowing border that fades into invisible, is that possible I stumbled upon borders and such once but I have no idea where they are. If I can do that can anyone help me?

Not bad for a first try. :D

I think the background needs some more work. It seems to be only one colour with that splashed paint effect over it. Try getting some textures or something and try changing the layer effects to see if anything looks kawaii. :aldo: The versus pictures are specifically annoying to use I find, so maybe try some stocks out with a wider range of colours.

I also cant help you with the fonts, I suck. :aldo:

After you've finished doing everything you want with the sig, merge visible and

http://img516.imageshack.us/img516/5215/bordergw9.png

play around in there to get a border. But be sure to undo the merge when you save the .psd.
