Ok so without going into the details, i fucked up my pc and had to do a system restore. All the hard drive things have stayed, just a few temp files are gone. This would be fine if my internet worked. It hadn't worked beforehand, but after uninstalling windows security centre, it started working. Now after the system reboot, i cant any way of getting rid of it.Last time i just unistalled it from the remove/add program menu, but its not there. Any one know of any sleuth like, delving into computer files way of getting rid of it?

Tl;dr - Help me uninstall Windows Security Centre the unconditional way.

I've never actually uninstalled Windows Security Centre but I just disable all of its functions when I do a fresh install of windows. Can't you just disable the firewall, automatic updates and virus scanner from the options? Whenever I do that it never bothers me again.

Kitmitsu's right all you do is disable the functions and they don't bother you and everything should work.

Thats exactly the settings i have now and what i tried last time. Still no connection. Last time i uninstalled it and it worked but now i cant find it to uninstall where i did last. Infact hardly any of the programs listed in the "add/remove programs" list are there. Only basic windows crap like "Try AOL free, no internet hate machine here!". Just found out none of the game .exes are working, all saying their missing the same file, something like d3dx blah blah. Those are fine, i cant just reinstall them, but im just trying to fucking obliterate Windows Security Centre.

From memory i do not think you can uninstall the windows security center. Unless you are talking a third party program which patches it out which may not be safe.

Right Click My computer, then hardware - device manager. Then check under network devices and see if your network drivers are installed. If they are not, reinstall them and see if you can reconnect. Turn your modem off and on or check plugs just in case you knocked one of them out.

If all devices are there from before, then run virus scans and spyware scans since malicious things embed in system restore points which many people do not know.

If all else fails then i am afraid a format would be the best unless it is your isp/modem playing up for a period of time. You are suppose to format your computer every once in a while anyway.

That d3dx error you keep getting is to do with directx. Here is a site for downloading them. Just download the right number.

Good Luck.

Do you have a connection (the little 2 screens at the bottom right) but the internet is just not working?

It says its connected, 400mbps, but no internet. I went into the "my connections" bit and it says its firewalled.

Edit : Got it working, thanks Hypnotiq reinstalling the connection and the software seemed to do the trick. Now to reinstall all mah games and free ware that the system restore messed up...
