Japanese Analysts: No FFXIII until 2010

After saying the rumors going round about Final Fantasy XIII seeing a release in 2008 (http://finalfantasyversusxiii.net/forums/../2008/01/30/square-enix-reply-to-final-fantasy-xiii-release-date-rumors.html) were dismissed by Square-Enix officially, Japanese analysts are saying they don't think that Final Fantasy XIII will release until Spring 2010, according to Kotaku.com (http://kotaku.com/358442/final-fantasy-xiii-delayed-to-spring-2010-um).

These claims are based on "no news from the company" about the game. Trailers for both Final Fantasy XIII and Final Fantasy Versus XIII has been shown at every TGS and Jump Festa event since the games' announcements. They may not be public, but they are being shown. Not sure how that clarifies as "no news".

However, as always with analysts they often don't know what they're talking about or are making wild claims based on very little fact. Only time will tell as Square Enix are yet to mention an official release date, but don't get all upset, because the game releasing as late as 2010 is quite unlikely.

They've been building the White Engine for a while as it was gonna be a PS2 engine but they switched it to PS3 when they realised how good they could make it.

Look at it on the bright side: if it gets released in 2010, at least it's gonna kick butts by default. And then there's the possibility of a demo being released within a reasonably close future. That's always something, imho.

When I read that I went all, 'Nooooo' and got lots of stares. But anyways, yeah, I think that is highly unlikely at this point due to the fact it's just too far of a gap. And if we do get confirmed that a demo comes out this year (please?) then it will for sure come out next year.

Not that I ever believe analysts but the American FFXII demo did come out in late 2005. A year before the American release of the full game. I don't think 2010 is a good guess but personally I wouldn't be surprised with Square's recent release problems e.g. FFXII, Advent Children.

Demo has NOT been confirmed to be released in 2008. They've just said they intend to put one out if they can.

Japanese stock information site? The stock market isn't anywhere near as important in Japan as it is in the USA and most European countries. It's not as developed or well-informed, I believe, but I think they probably have a more realistic idea of a probably release date than we do. I'm not actually finding the original article on the stock site because of the lack of page bookmarking, though, but I could easily believe late 2009 to 2010 for both games.

Especially for Versus, they still seem to be toying around with character designs, so I can't see them having gotten very far with the actual game, although they may be pretty far along with the other concepts.

For FFXIII, I have no idea. I'd be a little surprised if it didn't make it out until into 2010, but since this is really the first time SE is working with the PS3, they're probably having to work through a lot of things they didn't have to deal with in the PS2.

Both games are being made by separate teams. It wouldn't make a difference if they stopped development of either game.

Yeah short distances are good for the game and could be used for really great combo attacks
