How was the movie though? I want to go and see it but Spock looks like a gay bartender so I dunno if it's gonna be quite as good as I'm willing to spend £7 on. YES IM CHEAP I KNOW.

There were some HUGE events that occur EXTREMELY contrary to the timeline of the original series (I'm not talking about minor stuff) that was really annoying and left me and my friends with little choice but to conclude that this movie takes place in an alternate timeline of all the rest of the series. Additionally, I didn't think the main bad guy was all that much of a badass, which also annoys me. But there were instances with really sweet special effects, even though we agreed the bridge of the Enterprise was WAY too futuristic looking, considering it's supposed to be the same ship as was in the original series. I also felt like way too much of the movie was character introduction, which makes me think it won't be nearly as much fun to watch again.

My biggest hope for the movie is that it somehow launches another series, but hopefully with a different crew.

I heard quite a lot of people talking about the alternate time line thing. Kinda sucks because I assumed it was his son taking over the Enterprise from wherever the series left off. I've only ever watched random showings of the old ones, never could really get into it so I have absolutely no idea about the background to it all lol.
