Fixed Jump Festa Trailer Translation with some extra details

It's not really news, so it's going here. I finally got it finished ^^; Here comes the longest post ever... Subject to revision and addition as I find out how much I forgot to shuffle in or fix. >____>;

But they won't match up anymore, since this one is the product of a lot of talking to Kanae, and actually has more detail than her own site does now. :lol: Her main blog site is http://ffkh.blog31.fc2.com/. The trailer begins with the words “This is a fantasy based on reality.”

Then the scene where the car exits the tunnel onto the expressway (the one we see at the beginning of the CLOUD trailer) is shown. The voice of the radio can be heard.

The peace accord bound with his Excellency Verdan(ヴェルダンVe-ru-da-n) at Nigelheim (ニグルハイム Ni-gu-ru-ha-i-mu)…the reopening negotiations regarding the future peaceful use of our nation’s crystal…Everyone is hoping for the end of this cold war state. And then also, the next king’s…”


(Kanae makes note here that we can’t know if Nigelheim is the name of the other nation. She thinks it may just be the name of the city where the peace accord was made. She also thinks the last sentence probably concludes with something about either an election or a coronation.)

The car drives off.


The scene we’ve already seen with the soldiers on the stairs starts, but soon changes to the scene with the girl. The background in the girl’s scene is a modern skyscraper area like Shinjuku in Tokyo. The girl wears a three-tiered ruffled skirt, and has a dark expression on her face. She is wearing boots. The boots and skirt are both black. Her hair is silverish/blondish and somewhat long. Her eye color is some shade of purple.


The protagonist runs up. The battle scene between the protagonist and the soldiers is mixed in with the scene of the girl and the protagonist seeing each other. The protagonist seems surprised to see her. She does not look happy to see him. There is a tunnel behind the protagonist.

It then changes scenes to a road through a desert wasteland (the one shown in the V-Jump scans). It looks like a scene from a western film, pretty incongruous with the expensive black car running through it. There are broken telephone poles lining the road. By the sun, it appears to be early morning or evening.


Then, the scene changes again to a meeting room. The room is silver colored. It gives a completely different impression from the architecture of the cathedral-like building that we saw earlier (the building the protagonist comes out of). It’s a very rich-looking room. The chandelier, table and such appear to be made out of black stone, like obsidian. Men in black suits are sitting around a rectangular table and all discussing something with the others sitting near them. Rather than the FF12 senate, it feels more like a meeting of the mafia. Among them are bald men wearing sunglasses, and some with “all-back” hairstyles (a hairstyle associated with the yakuza, Japanese mafia, see example here~ http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k126/kdr82/44531.jpg


Then, the scene changes again and continues with the fight scene between the protagonist and the soldiers, nearing the end of the CLOUD DVD footage. The protagonist lands, the soldiers fire the missile, the protagonist turns and his red eyes are shown. Between the protagonist deflecting the missiles with his weapons and him disappearing into the door, words are shown on the screen, which were cut from the Jump Festa trailer (I think). A man in a white hood and white robe places his hand on a black coffin-like object behind the throne, and magic begins to manifest. The white hooded man has long blond hair. The protagonist, glaring at the white-hooded man, enters the throne room. The white hooded man turns, pulls up his hood, and faces off against the protagonist.


Then, it changes scenes to mid-day in a medieval-like town. The shotgun guy first appears alone and does not seem to be familiar with the town, and then the protagonist is shown to come up from behind and the two walk together. The shotgun guy makes a bunch of interesting expressions, sticks out his tongue and smacks his lips, but the protagonist doesn’t smile. The shotgun guy is shown in V-Jump here by himself.

The shotgun guy is talking in a friendly manner with the protagonist, and although there are no voices, he appears to say something like “Hey! You---!” by the movement of his mouth. The shotgun guy then notices something and puts his arm over the protagonist’s shoulder. The shotgun guy says something like “Hey! Look over there,” and shows something to the protagonist. This is the only scene in which there are “extra” type characters who do not appear to be main characters.

Then, in a new scene (new to the Jump Festa trailer), two new characters appear.

A big guy appearing to be around 30 years of age, who looks a bit like FFXIII’s Mr. 33cm. His hair is dark brown. He seems like a reliable character. He is wearing clothes similar to Barret’s. There is a scar over his left eye, and has a beard over much of his face. His hair is in a long “all back” style. Around his neck is a key-like object.

A guy in a suit, with a Turk-like feel to him is the other. He has a hairstyle like an actor named “Gori,” and a little like “The World Ends With You”’s Hanekoma’s hairstyle. It curls up a bit at the back. His hair color is black to very dark brown. He is not particularly heavily built, but he isn’t particularly skinny either. He looks a little like Crisis Core’s Lazard. He has silver tags around his neck. He has light grey tinted sunglasses/glasses. These characters are both shown in V-Jump.

Like the shotgun guy did to the protagonist before, the big guy puts his arm over the shotgun guy’s shoulder. Laughing, he horses around with the shotgun guy. The shotgun guy hits the big guy’s hand lightly as if to say “Hey! Get off me, please!” and says something like “I give up! I give up!” The suit guy with the glasses is behind them, but he isn’t paying any attention to them. He’s looking elsewhere and doesn’t seem to have any interest in what they’re doing.

The trailer returns to the wasteland. The car stops, and the shotgun guy and the protagonist get out. The protagonist gets out on the right side and the shotgun guy gets out from the left. The shotgun guy always has his shotgun over his shoulder. The road ahead of them is flooded. The shotgun guy looks out at it and goes “Oh…” They stare out at the road ahead.

Here, the scene with the white-hooded man continues. The protagonist and the white hooded man stand in front of the throne. They surround each other with swords and magical symbols, and it appears to be a stalemate. Unlike the scene with the girl, they manifest no coats of arms behind themselves. This scene is shown in V Jump.

The trailer jumps back to the silver meeting room. The men in black suits sit down at the table, and look at a leader-like man. His hair is short and white-streaked. He is neither thin nor fat. He has a beard that goes around his whole mouth. He speaks to them as if angry.

The scene then changes to the inside of the black car. The suit guy with the glasses is driving. In the passenger seat next to him is the shotgun guy. In the right back seat is the protagonist. Next to the protagonist is the big guy. The car has a GPS (lol). The two in the front appear to be a bit nervous. The big guy looks back behind the car. The protagonist says something to the suit guy.

The scene with the protagonist and the soldiers continues.

Then, a building that looks like a mixture of medieval and modern architecture is shown. From below the left part of it, lower than we can see, smoke is rising. We can't see the lower half of the building or the building's surroundings. Kanae thinks this building’s size and feel is similar to the one we have seen the protagonist come out from. The protagonist, the shotgun guy, the big guy and the suit guy look on from what appears to be high ground. . This is the shot of the four of them that we get in V-Jump. The protagonist turns and leaves, and the others follow suit.

Part of the scene with the girl and the protagonist that was shown previously in the trailer repeats here. The protagonist’s clothes seem a little dusty, but it might just be the lightning. The two rush at each other. It doesn’t appear to be their first meeting. They have an expression on their faces that says “We meet at last.” Suddenly, coats of arms appear behind the two of them. The one behind the protagonist is blue, and the one behind the girl is red. The two stop. The girl’s expression changes, and she glares at him fiercely. This is the shot we get of her in V-Jump. The protagonist then glares at her, too. The girl slowly summons a long, slender sword, and the protagonist also summons a sword.

"His Excellency" is 閣下　(Kakka) in Japanese. It is a ruling title, used for heads of state or diplomatic heads of state, meaning either the ruler of a country or the one who represents the ruler of a country. Non-ruling royalty and other governmental ranks have separate titles. I do not believe that the protagonist is "His Excellency" at the time of the broadcast, but I don't have any real reason or proof~

I'm hoping it's not. None of the Japanese seem to think it is, and they all heard the name. In the whole "Oriveira" discussions, Verdan never came up as a possible name for him. You'd think it would have made more noise if they thought it might be his name, having been the more audible word. >____>;

We don't even know if it is in the game, considering how little anybody actually heard of the radio anyway. As far as I know, nobody really agrees on what "Nigelheim" really was in the broadcast. I just left it like that because that's what Kanae heard and it's her report I was translating ^^;

that would deffinitely make it more depressing, so the theory is that the blonde is his sister (although it is very possible that she is in another family) and the mafia leader is his father. If this turns out to be true, than that would be interesting, I can see how the protagonists having to face his family members could turn tragic. Although I really hate tragedies, they make me extra sad :[

We didn't even get official comformation that these were real graphics of the game from Square Enix anyway. Can one of the moderators put this on the site and make sure the news is spread or something? I don't wanna make anyone sad because this really has made me sad, just when I thought development of the game might actually have been getting somewhere! :(

I don't think they were ever said to be realtime by anyone reputable ~_~; I looked and looked and never found a source or anyone who even said they could cite one. Same with the Pulse shot from FFXIII. I think someone just suggested that they might be based on how the pictures looked, and someone else read it and took it to be fact. People don't seem to read very carefully. *recalls Nomura-says-FFXIII-is-coming-out-in-2008 fiasco* :P

To be fair, I never saw anything that said they were cutscene, either. I guess it's still technically possible that those are realtime, although I don't know why people grabbed on those particular images to call realtime instead of any other screenshot we were shown. I wonder if Kanae would be able to clear up whether or not she thought the graphics looked different at that scene. She didn't mention anything about it, though. I'll ask and see~

Thats exactly what i did to! i looked for some comformation but Square Enix had never said anything about it being realtime! Its probably going to be months or even years before we see anything thats not pre rendered. Besides wasn't FFVXIII like only 1.3% through development?:(

If i recall correctly, the trailer that was shown where they firstly summoned the crest was at jump festa, no one has actually said whether or not these shots were taken directly from the trailer. Many of the images we have been provided with have not been in trailers we have seen. We shall just have to wait and see, at the moment its specualtion about the fact they might be real time, so i dont actually understand why you are 'sad'. Most of the information on this site is speculation or assumption based on what little or no information we have on the games. People just dont read correctly.

well they dnt look that alike to me, besides the eyes dont look the same, his is dark red and the old man's eyes look orange and plus the main character eyes could change color so he looks related to almost any character.

@OmiVersusXIV: Since when does eye colour mean a total relation to someone? It may change colour but what is his real eye colour? Who cares if they don't look alike? In FFVIII, Squall looked more like Raine but we don't see her except in the ending to even know. And firsthand, we didn't even know Laguna's his dad because it was difficult even seeing the similarities and we probably thought there was no familial similarities.

The girl's sword looks like Musketeers' sword. Maybe that indicates her job/status as well.
