I was thinking the other day what things would be like if Final Fantasy had not exsisted. If it had not i no one thing, i would not be hear on this site owaiting the latest games in the series"ffxiii and ffvxiii".
An even worse thought came to mined. If it had not exsisted then nither would any RPGs be here either, cause ff was the first game with the RPG concept incorporated into it, am i wrong?

Any way the question i am asking is where would you be if their was no ff, would it have any effect at all or would your lives be different ?

you are so wrong you should be banned. Either way I would be a successful buisness man in that alternate time period. Not some shitty writer.

I agree to a certain extent.

If FF7 hadn't been made, RPGs wouldn't have become mainstream as they are now.

That is wrong too. RPG's are not mainstream ANYMORE. Only FF still is, FFVII's success has wore off on the mass public that is why they hope FFXIII does the same. The average gamer does not go to the store and pick up Ar Tonelico or Shadow Hearts, they pick up FF.

Then that is there loss. Then it is a good thing to me since we don't have fanboys ruining every good rpg out there.

That makes sence to me, ff7 was the first RPG game i have ever played and it was the best game of its time. Since then I'v tried to get every ff game i could could get my hands on. I dont how ever think that RPGs are that mainstream, I'v try to find some RPGs at the games store but the ones I'v managed to buy are ok but don't come close to the greatness of ff.

If RPGs r mainstream it would be hard to tell as they r not advertised as much as ff games, well in the uk anyway.

Well I don't think fanboys really ruin RPG's. Unless the fanboys are the people making the game, fanboys/girls are just annoying people who rant and rave about it. I've got no problem calling myself a Cowboy Bebop fanboy, and there are many other fans out there. I don't think the series was ruined. But just because certain games or genre's are mainstream doesn't make them better. Final Fantasy may be mainstream but there are a lot of good RPG's on par and some better than the series. I have Final Fantasy Tactics and Disgaea on my PSP and I like Disgaea a lot more.

This thread should have nothing to do with who/what is a fanboy. JRPG's were mainstream before FFVII but lost that status and for a time after FFVII they gained it back. Final Fantasy is far from the first game to have RPG elements and anyone that thinks that is beyond misinformed. I mean come on, FF was based of DQ which was based off Ultima which was based off...goes on and on. If Final Fantasy did not exist a lot of smaller developed JRPG's might have had their chance to shine instead of being blocked from view because of the huge production values and CG mumbo-jumbo TV commercials that the FF series pumps out.

I played the third SH. It was okay, but I never finished it because the story couldn't keep me interested. I've heard great things on Covenant. Should I get that instead?

Yes, the first and second Shadow Hearts outshine the third one. The only thing I didn't like about the third one is the absence of Yuri and it's probably because of that reason that I haven't beat it yet. Get both of them if you can but you can play Covenant without playing the first one, it just makes it more enjoyable.

If there were no FF....I dunno really. I probably wouldn't be such a computer whore and, like Desi, I wouldn't be writing.

If there was no FF I'd be into whatever other RPG would have had it's opportunity to break through.

I have to say I agree with Exire that fans don't ruin a game as long as they don't influence the company into making crappy ones in the future.

That being said. I think I would be WAY more into anime and way LESS into video games if Final Fantasy had never come around. I do and have always played other Japanese RPGs too, but even my console preferences are heavily biased toward whatever consoles SE is favoring. The only system I own that was never highly favored by SE or Squaresoft is Xbox, which was given to me and I probably own two games for it. I should probably sell it, really. The only things I ever played on it were Halo and Robotech Battlecry. XD

I liked Suikoden 4 and 5 pretty well, though. So maybe I would still have owned some video games. More than 75% of my games are SE, although not only FF.

Yes, your very very wrong XD.

If your gonna bring up a thread about something as technical and involved as a time paradox, do it over something alot more important to people lives than final fantasy, actually, if final fantasy didn't exist, alot more people would have lives. XD
