I would lean towards lightning as her world seems more futaristic plus she defys gravity.

Although the dark haired lad is pretty badass and wouldnt go without a fight

I'm on Versus' guy on this one. Lightnings great and all, heck I love her, but I think Versus would win all the way. So far, (from what has been showed) Lightning needs weapons and bombs to carry out her attacks. Besides that one instance were she uses a fire attack. She's strong and she's pretty flexible, but Versus can teleport whenever he wants to it seems.

He has those shields, as mentioned by Rade, that deflected missles at the last second and he wasn't scratched. Haven't seen Lightning do half as much, still think she's awesome though. Yeah, Lightnings world does seem more advanced, but I don't think it has anything to do with power. I mean I know there are times where it's more based on the person than the type of world they live in.

Talking about speed, I guess they have the same speed.
Both of them have plus and minus...

Looking at Lightning, she could defy gravity and controlling it. She has bombs and could do magics. She's flexible and I guess she master samurai's swords skill, looking at the way she holds her blade.
but looking at Versus, he could teleporting, has unbreakable guard and skilled at martial arts (looking how he breaks someones head.....)

yeah, it's my opinion. Like Maiya Saiyado said, it makes difference between those worlds and how do they use their magic.

Isn't this thread a bit too early because we have yet to see what they can really do. Its impossible for me to think who will win because Lightning can defy gravity and control time but the guy from versus can teleport and has a lot of weapons surrounding him making him almost invulnerable to any attack.

This is interesting. I'm actually hoping to someday make my own CG video of a fight between Lightning and the guy from Versus. I'm planning on getting a program for it in January. The way I envision it it'll be an amazing fight but who knows. The way I was gonna do it though neither ends up winning in the end. I can't tell you the ending though since it's kind of a surprise.

So if I ever make it you'll be able to get an idea how it might look.

In Asian countries, the "emo" look aka: black and white with long hair, is considered very cool. Wheras in the US we'd point fingers and say bad things to emo kids.

It as been confirmed that lightning can control gravity for limited amounts of time(look at my sic she floating for like 30seconds)

Their not in the same world the nova crystallis games are based in the same universe (meaning just centred around the same things crystals)

The FF7 Compilation is about one story over a period on years, this one is compilation in same universe, they are both called FF13, so i have to see the connection betwin both storys, they sort of have to be ina near time zone... I know Square dont mess up like that, but hard to imagine a connection at this point.

the only connection is the mythology of the crystals-their paths crossing in physical terms i.e they meet face to face-not a chance their worlds are apart :rolleyes:

If I remember correctly, there was a trailer shown at some event that we at large have not seen yet. It has Versus Guy against an opponent in a white cloak. Anyways, Versus Guy was having trouble fighting against the opponent. Which suggests to me that there is a way to beat him. And whatever the white cloaked person was doing, it was working. So I think Versus Guy does have a weakness, of course, and while Versus Guy has a flashy style, and a pretty useful one at that, we also have to consider that Lightning is equally badass.

She can control gravity. She has the gunblade, and switches through a gun and blade without hesitation. If you also didn't notice in the trailer, she took on what seemed to be a whole army in that tunnel thing by herself, including several monsters. Versus Guy took on an army himself, so they are pretty much equally matched.

I think with the gravity Lightning would be able to get past Versus Guy's defenses with his weapons, and thus win the battle. But I also think that it would be a very long, drawn out battle.

Each wins at their own game, and like others have said I'd say a tie... although I like the game concept and environment of Versus more than XIII, I'd have to say Lightning does look like she can hold her own fights and pull a few tricks out of her little pouches.

As for whoever mentioned "getting a program" to make your own animation of pitting Lightning vs Prince, good luck. I'm not sure if you meant it as a singular program or you forgot the to make the word a plural form, but I hope you know it takes more than one program to make even 1 second of an actual FMV scene from FFXIII/VersusXIII, or taking FFVII:AC as a reference. I'll run you a list of some of the things you'll need: Lots of money. Unless you're "you-know-what"ing the programs, it'll cost you lots and lots of money. And let's look at the types of programs you'll need... the most common guess people will come up with is a 3D program (duh), followed by any image editting program like Adobe photoshop. Autodesk's 3DS max works quite well, any skilled 3D artist can and will beat someone who uses Autodesk's recently acquired Maya program (the program the SE uses a lot from the days of FFVII or FFVIII, forgot which... also it used to be manufactured and produced under a different company before it was bought by Autodesk).

Of course, like most normal people who just plays and whines about how a game could be better or throws the word emo so loosely, 3D is probably the biggest and only thing they'd consider that'd be used to make a game scene or CGI movie, which is not so far from the truth but there are other aspects as well. For example, yeah, you do use image editors like photoshop to edit and tweak some reference pictures to make whatever textures you'd need for say a character, or a building or weapon, like skin, cloth, hair, bricks, concrete, the sword's blade, the sword's grip/handle, etc. etc.. You'll also have to be very skilled at animating the characters, which means not just moving limbs and bodies around but facial expressions, battle damage, utilizing cloth physics, etc again. Are you even familiar with lighting the scene and making sure it plays correctly over a surface, like a character's arm? do you know what rendering is? Were you aware that to obtain some if not all special effects and motion graphics, a program called Shake, exclusive only to the apple macintosh computers was used to help create Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children? Do you know shadow/baking techniques? Do you understand that attempting to make even a 10 second animation requires at least a small team of people and is by all means no solo work? You could do it solo, if you're super-skilled and got 10 years to burn. By then the next 10 better versions of the programs you started with will be available, some of them possibly but not 100% backwards compatible and vice versa... but you probably see what I'm getting at by now. I doubt you can make anything near 10% of what the trailers show from XIII or Versus XIII now. It requires professional work and hours on end to make things seem "smooth" or "natural". So unless you've got the skill and team to back it up, I wouldn't lightly say you "are going to get a program and make an animation of Lightning fighting Prince".

However, if you are still interested in learning about animation, there are lots of resources available in forms of books or even online tutorial vids if you look in the right places. A good starting program, although it's not in 3D, might be macromedia flash for you since it's a user-friendly program and usually people learn the basics of animating on a computer with that program. Also, if you have the time and money, might wanna check out art schools as many offer the whole game design major these days.
