Sony Computer Entertainment Europe has announced that the release date for PlayStation 3 in PAL territories has been pushed back until March 2007.

US and japan will not change date and still have a PS3 in november.

As I, and many others from the PAL arena, feel disappointed/angry/frustrated/annoyed/sad for the extra 14-18 weeks delay of the PS3. I was in the class today when people found out of this. About one third of it wildly discuss about it, with expected expressions "Always us" "Typical Sony" "I can install that blu-ray part myself later" and an unexpected loud slam at a keyboard.

As you know, this will affect your sales in the EU and give two certain known companies a Christmas gift in a million euro class.

Japan: 23.55, Europe: 39.71, USA: 42.97, (millions PS2 sold)

Is it really that big difference between EU and USA sales?

What I see is that EU€599 is worth much more then US$599. So how come? If you sell your PS3 at a higher price in EU in the beginning you earn more. Are you afraid that the PS3 won't be accepted as a computer, but as a gaming console and then get more tax? Wrong, now with a network, graphic card, hard drive and Linux included in every package you have a computer, more a computer then the normal computer 6 years ago. It can't be denied.

You hyped this up with a world wide launch.

Personally this is the most annoyed i've been for a while. I actually heard the news on the radio in an interview with Gamespot which was weird...especially as i never listen to the radio :blink:. They should have anticipated a shortage I mean do they not double check things? I had respected Sony for being a pretty good company before but this just shows how unreliable they are.

Not that it matters but out of interest why would Sony just decide to delay the Europe, Russia, the Middle East, Africa, and Australasia launch. I dont understand why American and Japan are more deserving. It just feels like we've been left behind again. Fair enough that America and Japan are big money but this happens to us too much...even European games end up being released in America before here for some reason. Sorry for this rant :P I'm just angered by some of the posts on other forums with Americans laughing at us...its pathetic.

I had thought this was gonna happen before they announced the Worldwide release so i thought about importing a PS3 before. I think it should work if i do import one but i'm not entirely sure on online features and the tax on it would be incredible.

In conclusion I shouldnt get some annoyed by having to wait longer for a piece of plastic but i am and Sony should really think about their customer relations outside Japan. (though they did send me a free slim PS2 when my 5 year old one broke)

Well, I am afraid that I will order a Wii instead while I wait. I wanted to be a PSWii fan, but it seems like I will wait some time before I buy a ps3 even after march. I might buy it in the summer. Of if Wii is good, maybe never. So what’s the point to be in a forum for a game that is for the PS3? Maybe I should stay here for FF Agito XIII? O yes, I will be the first forum member to be excited for Agito. I will change it right away.^_^

I think I'll get a wii to pass the time until the p3 finally comes out and the price goes down, but I'm halfway expecting the Wii to turn up and pwn the ps3 back into non existence.

I think i can wait 4 months for it. I have to say there isnt much difference in the consoles except the games on some of them and the price :P. I think the PS3 would be a better investment for the future as many game developers seem to stick with Sony though some are moving over to the 360 because of delays.

Anyway i have a Plan B on how to get a PS3. We should forcefully take whats rightly ours!

Well at least they replied :P I can kinda understand the first paragraph but it gets very confusing later on. I tried translating it with Babel Fish and some of it made a little more sense. They seem to apoliguise alot and say that they dont want to release unsatisfactory products. I can kinda understand why they are only releasing the NTSC version now. There are alot of PAL counties and it could get complicated only making them available to some. I still dont forgive them for letting this happen though :P

This sucks for alot of kids, as this was probably the most wanted christmas present, and the parents are most likely f*cked off to the extreme. I know I would be if I was planning on buying one for my kids and then this big delay just turns up. Oh well, at least it's not been pushed back to something like June, because that would really just be taking the cake.

Five of GameSpot UK's reviewers gave their own reaction to the delay. They all give alot of good point. Sony could give us some sort of compensation for the delay, maybe even a price cut (unlikely). We'll also probably end up with the second model of the PS3 which means there shouldnt be as many bugs in it than the US and Japanese ones. Anyway i bet they wish they used HD-DVD now instead of Blu-Ray:P
