View Full Version : Brace for epic!

Actually, no, don't. You'll strain yourself. There is no epic to be had here.
I'm quite excited for the FFXIII series (As I'm sure most of you are. If not, what the hell are you doing here?) and that is what has lured me to these wonderful forums. I promise not to be too stupidly clueless, use huge brightly-coloured fonts, type in chatspeak (unless the situation so deserves), or plunder your villages.
So... yes, hello~

Hello, and there isn't anything in our villages worth plundering, unless you like ham.
Or carpets, we have a lot of them.

Speaking of carpets... *rolls out red carpet* Welcome. Post lots, debate some, stay a while, and beware of sarcasm since we're so darn sarcastic, and plunder a few vil--enjoy your stay.

Whiplash - Oh, I do love ham. :] I hope there might be a bit of cheese to plunder, as well.
And carpets?! Double score. Do you know how much those carpets go for on the black market? I will be rolling in the cash.
Naunen - Sarcasm? Yes please! I'll make sure to do my plund-- enjoying before this place gets overrun with idiots as the Advent Children.net forums did. Though, hopefully, that won't happen. :[
Dark Vincent - Oh, I know insomnia all too well, my friend! Thanks for the welcome!

I'm actually not that excited about it anymore. I got over it in a month or so. So it was June last year : D
I'm just here to have a home to stay in. :ninja:
Getting the updates on what is going on with the new games is pretty good too, but other than that HOOOOME.
You're probably thinking im out of my head for ranting about something you don't know about. Oh well, I tend to have that effect.
Enjoy the forums anyway =)

HAO DAR U RANT 2 ME. (This is one of those situations that most certainly required chatspeak.)
Kidding, of course. ;D I don't mind the ramble at all~ I tend the do the same thing sometimes, really. Ranting on about nothing. However, I'm nowhere near as bad as a medical photographer that I had to interview for my speech class. "One time I had to take some photographs of a man with a nail stuck in his head and did you know that butterflies are particularly drawn to magnolias? AND BY GEORGE, CLOWNS ORIGINATED IN ITALY!"
...And there I go.
Anyway, hopefully your excitement for the games will return once we near the release date (whenever we actually get that)! I kind of do the same thing. Drift in and out of my excitement until whatever game I'm excited for arrives. XD

I don't want to get too excited for FFXIII/V actually since the last time I was excited about a game (FFXII) and when I got it, it failed to entertain me. So pretty much disappointed my moments when I was excited.

Destiny Angel - Well, that's lame. :C Maybe FFXIII/V will live far beyond your expectations! And if not... well... blow up a sack of potatoes. They'll only scream in agony for a few minutes.
I actually haven't been all that excited about a Final Fantasy since X, so it's been awhile for me~
elephant_lost - Ohhh, ivory? This will go nicely with the furnishings in my newly plundered house. :]
And hype actually equals a pot of titanium steel, but don't tell anyone I let you in on the secret.

I actually got hyped after watching my brother beat FFX. 'Twas my first FF and I found it entertaining. Afterward I wanted FFVIII because I thought It looked cool. I have it now after...3 years of wait and guess what =D

And yeah I haven't been this excited for a FF since X, or maybe since 7! O.o

Dark Remnant - Thank you kindly, sir. :]
Dark Vincent - You are truly a man after my own heart! I've been around those forums since September of 2004 and own a whopping total of 16 posts. XD The people here thought they had it bad with people whining for trailers! Phew! Took the guys over there until early this morning to get their Advent Children Complete fix! So very many idiots.
Oh lawd... don't even get me started on how excited I was for VII. XD
Clone 00 - Haha, thank you very much~ I do love me some sarcasm and rambling.

Hahaha what next, MSN? XD
Yeah I registered myself there back last month after lurking since 2005 or 2006, posted about 11 messages and then vanished. People whining for trailers aren't as bad as "amagawd in interview number 35125, paragraph 12, 3rd line, Nomura says 'cough', obviously he was refering to how your argument fails and backing up my statements fully". Plus all the bizarre theories and unintelligent questionings people started (and tried to back up with Ultimania and such). I don't even know why people insisted on discussing anything anymore when every topic faced "cite your source(s)".
Oh DO tell me about your expectations towards FFVII back in the day, I have my own stories about it as well.
Oh and I actually appreciate the separate replies =)

You just took my exact thoughts on that place and put them into text. XD I can't stand the people that pull that bullshit. I understand that it's nice to have knowledge on the finer details and concepts on the game... but geez, don't smack anyone who - GOD FORBID - gets a minor detail wrong upside the face with the know-it-all trout. :[ They just make themselves look like the most supremely annoying kind of elitists. I don't even know how they keep up with all of their info!
Oh lord... I will have to dig deep into the brain meats to try to remember that. XD I do remember someone I knew thinking Sephiroth was a girl, though. :C And that his FMV with Jenova was some crazy lesbian scene. I kid you not.
And I'm glad someone appreciates them. :]

Seriously, funny thing is most of that userbase is composed by underaged people (like 18 or less). Some didn't even play the original game! Sure they retconned some stuff on those Ultimania, guides, interviews etc etc making their current information more "up-to-date". But for us, oldschoolers, it's still the same game with the same flaws and strong points it used to have 10 years ago. It changed over the years? Yeah sure, but some of us don't care and would like to discuss the subjects the way they were presented to us back in the day. So sorry, angry nerds, go play and have fun. It's a game, not a sanctity to worship. ~.~
I remember reading the demo or Japanese version impressions on some magazine and one of the "important tips" they gave was "ALWAYS use Hyper on your characters! It increases the charge speed on your Limit Break bars with NO drawbacks!". They forgot to mention it increased the enemy's damage substantially, which is why it "increased the charge speed" in first place >_>

Dark Vincent - Hay now! I'm 18 and I consider myself to be just a tad smarter than your average shark (not by too much, though)! But whoo boy, I know what ya mean~ Elitists that have actually played the game is one thing but ones that don't even know what the cover looks like... stfu, please. >:[ And you are still hitting the nail on the head~ I miss a lot of the old theories that have been proven wrong by the translations of the ultimanias and such. I think some old fan theories were better than what is now official, lulz. >_>
Ha! I don't think I ever saw that! XD I was only like... seven around the time all of the magazines and stuff were coming out so I paid more attention to the pictures than most of the actual info. Oh, the simple-minded.

I hope mods don't lay the almighty banhammer on me for carrying on a discussion in an introduction thread. :CAye aye, I can notice that already (that you are a bit smarter than some). Hehe ^^ Yeah I'm against the kind of elitism that happens there be it from people who have played the game or not (but I have even less tolerance with those who haven't played, of course). It's just really silly that people can't realize that FFVII was not planned to have sequels/prequels or anything of the sort therefore some "theories" and discussions seemingly "nonsense" nowadays actually make a lot of sense if you look at the original game for what it is (or was, 10 years ago). Both fanbases should respect each other's viewpoints and enjoy the games the way they want to, not destroy each other with nerd books and stuff. :(
Haha I was 11 when FF7 came out so I already read well and played lots of games XD In fact, I started playing videogames when I was 3, so Ive always liked reading game magazines since I was 5 or 6 >_> (though like you, back then I paid more attention to the pictures XD). And damn you are 18... that means you played it reaaally young didn't you? D: I played my first RPG when I was 10, but then again it was still too early for me to learn a second language like that (English is not my first, I'm sure you have noticed that by now with all the crappy grammar).
Btw not sure on what the mods think of all this chat, but if you prefer just bug me via PM, or I'll reply to your next msg on PM instead XD
