Ok so while we were told that Cocoon was a "futuristic utopia" and that it's "suspended above a world many citizens fear below" (Pulse) we could see on this trailer that Cocoon is also afflicted by attacks of bizarre creatures (the Behemoth). The Behemoth spawns out of nowhere, crashing the cars standing in its way and we can see some sort of energy enveloping it for a bit which made me believe it was "summoned" there by some force.
Could it be a more drastic way used by Cocoon to protect itself? Or would Cocoon be going through hard times, like a failure in its defense/protection that allowed whatever creates those monsters to do it around the city? Or even some sort of "revenge" from the Planet/Crystals trying to destroy the city? O.o (the same way one Crystal chooses Lightning to put an end to Cocoon, some other Crystals could choose to be not so nice)
Sorry for grammar or whatever, assist me if there was anything wrong XP

Sounds like The Spirit's Within to me.

Well, I like your assumptions. To me, it seems, like the Behemoth is a last resort defense system, and likely a fun boss to kick around.
From what I believe, Lightning is from Pulse, and those guys in the hoods:

These guys were being quarentined to Pulse, from Cocoon. So, what ends up happening, is Lightning is destroying Cocoon, to keep these guys from getting to Pulse for some reason. Ah. Kinda confusing.
Well, either way, it seems like Lightning is an enemy to Coccon, since she is fighting their soldiers. Maybe she was influenced by Pulse, and the Holy Government is trying to capture her for quarentine?

Hmm considering Lightning's clothes and those two stripes on her shoulders, I thought at first she used to be from Cocoon, got quarantined but survived in Pulse until she got those powers from the Crystals and is now back for a payback or something. Which would also explain her relation with Mr. 33cm (whose weapons and clothes don't appear to be from a "primitive world")

That is good assumption. I figured, something like that too. She's in it for revenge. But it's probably more complex than that. When you saw the amount of damage she did in the trailer, it isn't what you'd probably expect in the beginning of the game. THat might be maybe towards the end or maybe the middle. Cause she was way too powerful.
You'll probably start off with a crappy pistol and work your way up to using magics, and techniques that kick some serious ass.
I anticipate it so much.

Well, it was a trailer so take it as a grain of salt. I have played Final Fantasy VII, VIII and Xenogears demos. In FFVII and FFVIII demos you started out with strong summons and high profile spells XD In Xenogears.... you had almost every Deathblow in the game and all spells with Fei, Bart and Elly. O.O So I wouldn't be surprised if FFXIII trailer was near the beginning, but they just exaggerated on the spells and numbers.

Sounds like The Spirit's Within to me.Wait no?
Cocoon uses monsters ex. Flans with helmets, so the Behemoth could just be a defense system but the damage to the highway wouldn't be something positive. Then again some countries would not care as long as they wiped out the "bug" but still not a very realistic approach to a solution. The behemoth could also be from Pulse and broke in with aid of Lightning messing with their defense systems. She just bumps into it and has to fight it.
Soldiers always have been extremely weak in FF/JRPG's in general. Never understood that.

this is my opinion...maybe there is new leader of cocoon that have dark thoughts..he want to destroy cocoon or use it for power, lightning finds that out, thats why she fights with soldiers...past frends become enemys...

From what Ive heard about Cocoon, it reminds me somewhat of "The Kindom Of Zeal" from Chrono Trigger or "Solaris" from Xenogears. I believe I read somewhere that the difference between Cocoon and Pulse is one is believes the crystal speaks to them, while the other believes they are protecting the crystal or something similar to that. I am not positive that is exactly right, perhaps someone that remebers hearing something similar can verify what was said on the topic.
I hates Spiritd within. It sucked balls.

Ya, it's a great theme that has been used thoughout the series, im glad they have decided to elaborate on it. Looking back at it:
Final Fantasy I - 400 years before the start of the game the Lefeinish people used the power of the Wind Orb(renamed Crystals in all other games) to create a giant Floating Castle. However the city declined when the Crystal turned dark. When you travel to this Sky Castle in the game you encounter ancient robots.
Final Fantasy III - 1000 years before the start of the game on a floating continent a technologically advanced civilization tried to harness the power of the four elemental crystals of light. But this caused the balance between dark and light to be distruped, and the lower contient was left in ruins. At the start of the game you are actually living on the Floating continet, though you don't even know it till later in the game.
Chrono Trigger - In the year 12,000 B.C. there is the Kingdom of Zeal, which appears to be an properous and enlightened floating island ruled by a monarcy.
Xenogears - In the year 9226(the game starts in the year 9999), the elitist society of Solaris creates a floating continent, from which they plan to rule all of humanity, which they view as lambs. There is also another floating Island named Shevat(which is very similar to the Kingdom of Zeal from CT), which ends up going to war agianst Solaris.

I agree with you for the Behemoth but for the guys in the hoods they seem to me as prisoners. I think I heard that from somewhere tho...
