View Full Version : New Trailer (Spoilers) Observations

So I've noticed some minor details in the new trailer that the old one didn't exactly have-

1) There are visible tear stains on the statues in the beginning. They are also NOT carrying orbs. I believe the person that the statues represent is the same person on the logo- compare their designs. Is it some kind of manifestation of the crystal?

2) Towards the end, you can see that his right eye (the one closer to you) twitches slightly.

3) It's been mentioned before, but why the water in the throne room?

4) His eyes in the beginning are orange-brownish, or possibly red with a tint of darkness because of the lighting. Why're they colored if he doesn't have his swords out?

Discuss?

yeah i noticed the tear drop stains as well, a subtle change since the original trailer:

i dunno i dont think the statues represent the same person as in the logo, the logo lady isnt wearing a cloak and the headband thingie, and the facial structure seems different:

I can barely notice his eyes' color change when he attacks on this trailer. I guess they are still changing some details on the plot and/or design

As Dark Vincent said, I think They are still changing some details. The first KH2 trailer had a lot of scene which are not on the game.

But it didn't seem he needed the swords to teleport. The first time he does, it's up the stairs without any swords being there, and when he teleported up the building and again to reach the soldier, it looked more like he summoned his sword to his hand. And frankly, it didn't look much like teleporting either. If you look closely, you'll see the direction he is 'teleporting' to, which looks more like superfast movement, kinda like when Superman runs in the Louis and Clark series, except for the glow.

And that twitching could possibly be REM, indicating that he is in fact dreaming...

Naunen

Dear gawd! I don't believe Versus guy looks like Cloud. Why do people keep saying so? Must be a first glance thing because I don't believe it. Anyway, anyone would see the statues of course. As for eye colour, maybe it's the lighting.

I didn't notice statue thing till now, but you the statues do kinda remsemble the woman on the logo. And no, he doesn't look like Cloud.

Also, about the eye twitch thing while he's asleep, it's always been there. He's either having a nightmare or something but I do know the Rapid Eye Movement is there because he's in the dream state of sleep. Some psychological thing like that. *researches to refresh memory* It's normal and realistic. o.o Realistic...

MR. Versus is so cool. He's so quick in the trailer, and the soldiers, stupidly, just constantly go after him. *The part where he turns around, and walks back up the stairs, he dumb soldiers, chase after him...
He's so cool. And he doesn't look anything like cloud. Only parts, of his hair, maybe.
This was a beautiful trailer.

Now that you guys mention his eye twitching/having nightmares thing... What if all that battle IS one of his nightmares and it actually isn't happening at all? :P

That would explain the blood too: "Blood in a Final Fantasy? Only in your dreams..."

he may have the abilite to transform his weapon to another bc in the trailer at bc at 1:16 when he throws the sword it transformers in mid air to a different weapon

True, that would explain some of the obvious indiscrepencies like how the soldiers got there in the first place.

The first time he does, it's up the stairs without any swords being there, and when he teleported up the building and again to reach the soldier, it looked more like he summoned his sword to his hand. And frankly, it didn't look much like teleporting either.Actually he tele'd pass the middle of the stairs, where his weapons were as you can see when the troops run after him and bump into them.

The sword was already up the side of the building some how though. Maybe he does teleport to his weapons but I believe he just can't teleport with them in his hand/equiped.

I don't think it is superfast movement just a distance limit and high mana consumption. Think, what would be the use of a airship or car later if he can just warp there? So his party members don't have to take the long trek themselves?

These ideas are only coming from the information and the trailers. All of this can be shutdown at any moment.

From what I can tell, the weapon just transports itself. I think he actually fights with the same weapon without switching for a few good seconds during that part. Though, I just woke up so I could be totally blind or I could be watching the wrong part. XD

Since, from what I can see, he only uses the one weapon while scaling that building; I wonder what the other weapons are doing. Out for coffee, perhaps? It is a large city. There's bound to be a Starbucks. :]

Well, I noticed the changes in the trailer as well and although they're subtle... I don't think Square Enix would add them in if they didn't really mean anything. Perhaps they might symbolize something? I mean why add in different features and change things around for no reason? It is only a trailer, but why take time to make the change? I don't think it would have mattered whether they added in the little details... Then again, I could be completely wrong. They could just be adding it in to make it seem more realistic or something.

Dark Remnant
Dec 18 2007, 08:33 AM
I think they're probably just experimenting at this point, these are still early development stages don't forget.

I doubt the changes have any significant meaning, it may just be SE's way of testing us on our observational skills. :cookie:

Naunen
Dec 18 2007, 09:18 AM
Perhaps a concept but it doesn't hurt to speculate based on observations and analysis of the camera angles. It only hurts when we keep these things in mind for so long only to have it shoved back in the face by a completely different story.

Terros
Dec 18 2007, 10:37 PM
The draw back to the new trailer is that it's answered few questions and raised a lot more.

Dark Remnant
Dec 18 2007, 11:26 PM
Indeed, people are now speculating on the relevance of the footage itself, not just the details of it.

Naunen
Dec 18 2007, 11:40 PM
Maybe the voices in my head are buzzing but I think I read or heard somewhere that the scene in the trailer is the most important scene. I don't know where I read or possibly heard that so don't ask the validity of that.

Maiya
Dec 19 2007, 04:38 AM
Ugh... Square Enix is really killing me. The new footage was great and all, but nothing was really answered... For me anyway... Well, I suppose the little details really don't mean anything then. I don't think SE has ever used little details to signify anything have they?

Naunen
Dec 19 2007, 05:12 AM
We'd probably be surprised if they do. It's enough to get us going on something.

Maiya
Dec 19 2007, 08:48 AM
Wouldn't it be nice if they did though? Something we could actually analyze and know that it actually means something. That and we know that we aren't analyzing something that probably means absolutely nothing in the game. Anyway, back to the observations... Well, some people have been saying the statue could be the woman from the logo that's sleeping. If that's so, then it must represent that she's upset or sad about something. In an interview, it was (somewhat I guess, Nomura just paused and said we can't answer that or something) said that the logo has something to do with the game. So, if the statue is related to the logo it must mean something. Then again, (once again contradicting myself) it could just be vines or moss growing from lack of proper cleaning or sanitation. Hah. How sad is that... But his castle is relatively clean.

Whiplash
Dec 19 2007, 08:50 AM
It probably does mean something but it's the sort of symbol where it's significance can't be really realised until we've played the game and even then it will probably be analysed to death.

Naunen
Dec 19 2007, 08:50 AM
I would say that it's been there. Those tear-like marks. Or acid rain. I doubt those statues have limestone.

Maiya
Dec 19 2007, 08:58 AM
Lmao. Acid rain. Geh... Well, how about his eye color? I guess there could be a reason why they change other than the swords that he uses. But then again, I thought it was just because he was staring out the window... Where all the lights were, because you know sometimes streetlights mess with color. Oh, and his eye twitching. I don't think it's a dream. I have no proof to back it up, but why would they want to show a dream?

Whiplash
Dec 19 2007, 09:02 AM
Maybe they were thinking: "Well this scene is almost finished and looks pretty cool without giving too much away, we'll use this for the trailer"

I think people are overanalysing this a bit. What's next, an in-depth essay on the significance of the release date?

Naunen
Dec 19 2007, 09:05 AM
@Maiya: To be realistic about him looking like he's sleeping. It's just REM (Rapid Eye Movement) where we know he is actually sleeping. The early stages of sleeping where dreams occur. Swords and magick are his specialty so maybe we know he's using magick when his eyes change colour. Just maybe.

Maiya
Dec 19 2007, 09:10 AM
Hah, I bet I could pull off an essay speculating the release date. Sad. But it's true. xD Either way, I guess it's either over analyze the trailer or draw fanart until I get bored and want to analyze some more. It's been like four days since the release of the Cloud trailer and I already want to see more. Well, the REM makes sense, but it still throws me off. I mean he did open his eyes and get up out of his throne room. As for the eye color, could you explain what you mean a bit more clearly? Maybe it's just me, because I should be sleeping, but I didn't really get what you meant.

Naunen
Dec 19 2007, 09:15 AM
I don't know for sure. But I think that when his eyes change colour, he uses MP or whatever name they'll call that. That's just me though. I wouldn't know for sure. Just my guess. The weapons he wields are practically magick since they appear at his will and "the Crystal's songs of swords and sorcery."

Oh, you see the eye movement at the end of the trailer. The E3 06 one and the new one.

Maiya
Dec 19 2007, 09:17 AM
Oh, that makes sense. I bet they're gonna stick with good old MP as the name. Eh, maybe they'll change it. Anyway, the whole magic changing his eye color makes sense along with his swords... But he wasn't using magic in his car, just sitting there. I still blame it on the streetlights.

Naunen
Dec 19 2007, 09:19 AM
I'd say it's his natural eye colour. I doubt it'd be anymore average than that since his hair's a dark silver which is also not average.

Maiya
Dec 19 2007, 09:23 AM
Natural eye color? But... Remember in the first trailer when he opens his eyes and gets up? His eyes are a dark blueish color. Then, they change to red when he pulls his sword. And then, in the car they're suddenly orange-red even though he's not using magic or anything. So, kinda weird. I don't know if anyone can have two different natural eye colors though. I know people where their eye colors change, but from dark blue to orange? Clash to badly. But then, the whole complementary colors thing does fall into place.

Naunen
Dec 19 2007, 09:26 AM
His eyes were red naturally even in that first trailer. Unless I'm blind. O.o

Maiya
Dec 19 2007, 09:28 AM
Egh!!! Go watch both trailers again! I will watch them both in a minute after I finish typing my essay (procrastination is a horrible thing). Just stare at the eyes throughout the whole thing. xD And I'll do the same. Haha. Then, we'll know.

Naunen
Dec 19 2007, 09:32 AM
*finished watching trailers* They're red naturally. Changes colour throughout. The lighting in the car and streetlights make them appear golden.

Maiya
Dec 19 2007, 09:33 AM
O-o -Goes to watch trailers- I swear they started out as a dark blue color when he gets up from his chair. I guess it makes sense though. Maybe I'm just color blind or something. =-=

Dec 19 2007, 09:36 AM
I'm thinking the lighting in the throne room did something. Kinda like how people say his hair's blue 'cause they were focusing on the lighting in the room.

Maiya
Dec 19 2007, 09:41 AM
...I thought his hair was a dark blue color. Doesn't look silver to me. Then again, people all have different opinions on lightings and colors. So, I guess we can't really tell what his eye color or hair color really is until it's like given out as actual confirmed information.

P.S. I will be right back... I really gotta finish my essay...

Depends on how long the castle has been there. Anywho, whether or not it turns to day? In dream pyschology night can be synonymous with death, rebirth and new beginnings.

Naunen
Dec 20 2007, 01:03 AM
That'd be quite something if he were living a dream. Or if the whole kingdom itself's a dream. Kinda interesting of how when people wake up, it's as if they sat up out of water. Or at least, in their ears. Maybe there's something around the kingdom that protects it from the outer world. Can't quite explain but there was something like that in a Final Fantasy. Or all in my head. >< Like a sort of barrier that cloaks the real sky and shows it to be night. But that doesn't explain the clouds.

Hah. That's true. It is still a fantasy even if it is based on reality. So, bizarre things such as eternal night could exist.

Perhaps it's just one of the many powers of the crystal. Perhaps he used it to construct the palace or something. I guess a palace in the middle of a city is normal. Yeah, night/darkness symbolism. There should be a reason as to why Nomura picked such a dark scene. Human emotions and all that.

That'd be quite something if he were living a dream. Or if the whole kingdom itself's a dream. Kinda interesting of how when people wake up, it's as if they sat up out of water. Well, the whole dream theory sounds a bit strange. Why base a trailer or a game off a dream? I know Nomura wants to base it off true human emotions and dreams do (supposedly) show a persons feelings in an obscure way. However, it's hard for me to think of the trailer and the game to be a dream. Can there be clouds at night...? I think I've seen them before... As for a barrier, how would the soldiers get in? Maybe someone was leading them in?

Terros

That or sleep. They both seem to be important based on the trailers. What do you think the main factor could be?

Naunen
Dec 20 2007, 04:43 AM
A barrier that shields the kingdom from the effects of the outer world. Like the weather or pollution of it or something. I expect a kingdom like that would be protected by something like stone walls would protect a castle. Being highly advanced, it seems likely. And as usual, there's always a way around such defense.

But this thing with the eye-twitching (back to that) could also just be the motion actor fucking it up...

Rade

Even if the mo-cap actor (assuming there is one) did twitch, they could easily fix that. If the twitch is there, then it's there purposefully and for a reason.

Well Presidents have license plates on their cars in our world too (though they are special/different ones). It is just for realism effect in the game of course.
In my country, the President's car plate has a different background and number colors than the normal one.... And as long as I see in the trailer, their cars doesn't have clear any visible numbers... It's all blur

And I suspect that the prince energy waves was the yellow-blue lines and silver colored dust...
What a color.... 0_0

They are like that in my country too Spinel. And I knew that it was different in some other countries too.

So yeah it wouldn't be unrealistic for the prince's car to have a plate after all =)

Now that you guys mention his eye twitching/having nightmares thing... What if all that battle IS one of his nightmares and it actually isn't happening at all? :P

That would explain the blood too: "Blood in a Final Fantasy? Only in your dreams..."

Also, from PLAY magazine ( http://finalfantasy-xiii.net/media/scans/play/02.jpg, middle colume, little more than half-way down): "The themes of Versus XIII are 'bonding', 'friendship', and 'sleep', as evidenced by its logo,..."
Plus, from the CLOUDartbook trailer: "This is a fantasy based on reality."

In a way, dreams in sleep *are* fantasies based on the realities of daytime.
My point is, the dream theory makes sense, maybe the prince can only fight in his dream, but there has to be some sort of reality the dream can be based on, so I also believe there certainly is real actions taking place in Versus.

Maiya
Dec 23 2007, 10:39 PM
Well... No one really knows what dreams really are. It's speculated that dreams are based on reality, so it could work. However, we just don't really know. Now, if you're just talking about regular old knocked out sleep where everything is black... Well, I don't know what to say about that. Things like Birth by Sleep that SE has used I don't even know how they make that possible, but somehow they make it work.

Heck, the prince could have been sleeping walking/fighting with his eyes open while he was fighting the soldiers. Aha, I think that'd be funny and not really possible, but you know anything could happen.

It is said in psychology that sleep is the body's way to get rid of stress. If a person didn't sleep for days, they'll start to live a dream (hallucinations) until they sleep because the body will try to compensate for anything it lacks. I read somewhere that in the daytime, the city looks a little medieval. Night and day... Hmm...

Egh... I've never hallucinated before and don't want to. What is psychology based on really anyway? To find out what dreams and other stuff are based on? I haven't taken it, might, and I just sort of wondered what it's supposed to be there for. Haha, the night in day thing sort of make me think of kingdom hearts.

And... It does say the city looks a bit medieval in the review when it's daytime... So, eternal darkness doesn't exist in the game it seems. But at night the city looks completely urbanized(? Not sure if I'm using the right term) or rather advanced modern. Could the different times of day change the way the city is? I highly doubt it, but it's something.

I think the part about looking medieval in the daytime may be that they are walking in the daytime in a different part of the city. I'm not entirely sure though.

And frankly, it didn't look much like teleporting either. If you look closely, you'll see the direction he is 'teleporting' to, which looks more like superfast movement.
Maybe we can imagine as a movement faster or similar to shunpo(flash steps) in bleach. His movements are so fast he practically looks like his teleporting but technically he could just be moving at immense speeds the eyes cant detect :)

I aint got much to speculate here but dreams could do 3 things......

1.dreams are the imaginary acting out of repressed and unconscious desires
2.dreams represent represent conscious concerns but transformed into different images
3.dreams are a way of going over info gathered during the day, selecting and rehearsing important stuff

lolz what i said may not entirely link to what everyones said :)

true, I don't think he's teleporting. I once watched the trailer and often to pause the trailer for checking something. When he's moving at the fast speed, somehow he leaves somekind of his body's trace at the place where he left.

And also about dreams.... I don't think they're true.... because at the first trailer, we see that he awakes later on....

But heck, I am not busting $35 on that thing until there's something on it that's worth it. ;_; I'm poor and have no job lol.

Anyway, I'm pretty sure that he's fighting at his palace still. I think the probability that he's in another town is pretty slim... But it could be possible, maybe SE is deciding to finally show another area. Doubt it though. Well, we could also talk about the reviews from the trailers that have been shown in Closed Mega Theatre, don't know if it would fall into this thread though.

Also, I think it's not dreams that play a role in the game, but more of just sleep. Though, dreams are apart of sleep so it could be.

There are other towns, they're reffered too as the "outer world". This is where the Heretic Order (the armored solidiers who attack) presumeably comes from. And as the last heir he probably acts as a diplomat to other countries and stuff.

Maiya
Dec 26 2007, 11:39 PM
Well, it seems that the prince is one hell of a diplomat. Today, I don't think I could see even one of our diplomats going out to represent a country and fighting even if they had powers similar to the prince. Probably would use it to become a dictator or something. I wonder if the prince is somewhat of a dictator?

So... Is the outer world all of the territory outside of the prince's kingdom?

Also, I don't think he's sleeping either. Too much happening and most of the times in dreams, crazy stuff happens that could never happen in life. Like a green block monster trying to eat you or something.

Let's see here...

1. I think the fight scene in front of the palace is probably after negotiations have broken down. I imagine at that time he's become more of a soldier of war than a diplomat. I wonder if they even have much government at that point... if enemy soldiers get as far as the palace, the country can't be doing so well overall, maybe...

2. The original Japanese I've seen used to describe the protagonist's "teleporting" are basically a combination of the characters for "instant" and "translocation," which basically comes out to teleporting.

3. I agree that dreams probably aren't as important as this thread has carried them out to. I think we're flying a bit far with it for having little to go on especially in the new trailers.

4. It's possible that some of the new more medieval scenes are in new towns, since we've already seen the protagonist travelling with at least Shotgun Guy through the wasteland. Well, we didn't see it, but the people who went to Jump Festa did ~_~

Maiya
Dec 27 2007, 06:40 AM
Well, the prince is moving about to different areas which has been reviewed by people who have seen the trailers. Like how the shotgun guy and prince suddenly reached a part of the road that was submerged underwater. Wonder what that could possibly be about?

Eh, who knows how the soldiers got there? And why? For the crystal, but who sent them?

@BlankChocobo Oh... I remember, I read the parts of the Versus Trailer review that you translated. Thank you so much for that. Much more information and it makes the game so much more interesting now. So, you have all of my thanks for that. Piles and piles of my love for that.

She looks like a Goddess-figure of some sort. Sleeping gods generally mean bad times in SE games. I think the trailers have already succeeded in establishing that at least the protagonist's life sucks XD

And the way I understood the new trailer was that palace gets attacked, protagonist and company flee in the car, which would be when we see them on the road in the wasteland because they've left the kingdom capital. I place the radio broadcast as close to the first event in a timeline. I don't know where "veruko" falls in. I also don't know where the scenes where the protagonist means the Shotgun Man and where Suit Man and Big Guy appear with Shotgun Man should go, but possibly on their travels... they seem to definitely all know each other at that point. Also no clue about where to place the mafia meeting and not sure what happens with the white-hooded man. If the mafia guys and soldiers are connected, I guess they might be a meeting of the heads of other kingdoms, and would be discussing what to do about the crystal-possessing kingdom, and decide to attack. No evidence for their connection, though.

It could be like in Drakengard. o.o Like the world order depended on one set Goddess (any girl they decided to place the final seal on) who just happened to be the main guy's (who's a Prince) sister and the enemy (the Empire whose soldiers also looked like bucket-heads) attacked their isolated kingdom just to get the Goddess because of the need to get the Seeds of Resurrection (which was a myth). Since this Goddess held the Final Seal, they needed to break the other Seals in order to unleash a tremendous power to wipe the world clean to give it another life. o.o If anything, Drakengard's main guy Caim tried to flee with his sister to safety but failed since they managed to capture her and she killed herself, releasing the Final Seal since the others were broken and all hell broke loose. To remedy this, a new Goddess must be appointed and nothing can change this ring so there will never be no need for a Goddess.

Maybe the enemy soldiers are acting on a myth because of the power they heard about. I wonder what myth it could be since Fabula Nova Crystallis share a myth. Could it be of the power the Crystal holds? It's also said that Agito is similar to Versus XIII. Could it all be for world order?

I would bet my bucks that they're after the crystal. I don't see what else they would be coming to the palace where the crystal is kept for. Can't say anything about the Goddess, but the burden appears to have been put on the protagonist himself, this time. By Goddess, I was thinking more of sleeping benevolent deity, FFXI-style.

He's gonna need some cement for that... And who knows how that'll take. Poor, poor prince. God, talking about this makes me think about how his life sucks without even doing anything wrong.

I hope this isn't off topic. xD

Well, seeing as he doesn't seem to affected and looks used to whats happening. I say a long time, but who knows? He could've always been that way?

Yeah, he definitely has this "I knew it..." sort of blank look. At least I think so. He even looks at the dead bodies and keeps the blank look. He was at least expecting something awful, I think. I want to see what his "surprised" face looks like

I cannot imagine it...

Aha! When you wrote that he had the 'I knew if" face, I thought you meant that face because his stairs got screwed up because of the bullets. It's like he knew his bullets were gonna get screwed so he prepared himself for it.

Well, they say he looks 'surprised' well some different expression on his face when he sees Veruko. At least it's something... I wanna see him look surprised!

Yeah, that's the expression I'm talking about wanting to see. The one with the veruko girl.

And I definitely think he was prepared for some ally/loyal servant death. I'm not sure the bullet divets cross his mind XD

Well, I'd just like to see the new trailers period. Then we get the whole package! No innuendo there =_=.

I think he was prepared for some death, too. But! He could've prepared himself for the destruction of his stairs!

Like while he walks down the stairs and hears the bullets hack away at his poor stairs. Inside, he's cringing at all of the work and money it's going to take to repair them and if there's a guy to actually repair it that isn't dead.

Right... I haven't seen any townspeople show up. And there hasn't been any reviews of regular people showing up at all. Which usually happens, like in FFX. Maybe they were killed like the guy who was supposed to repair the prince's stairs and lights? xD

I would assume in the scene with the protagonist and the Shotgun Man, there are other townspeople. If it was eerily deserted, I think we would have heard so from our friend Kanae. There wasn't any description of any townspeople though... If I do end up getting in contact with her, I will ask for description of any natives.

Oh, so you have contact with Kanae? Don't know who she is, but give her my greatest thanks if you would? She's been great with the new info.

So, we'll find out if there were people soon enough... Wonder if the prince ever meets with his own. I mean he is a prince, he should have to get to know his own people or something...

Well, I think in one of the reviews I read (probably the one translated by Blank), the Shotgun Guy was looking around a town like he hadn't been there before. So, they probably are introducing new areas.

Yes, that was mine XD And I do not currently have contact with kanae, but I'm attempting to make it. I've submitted a comment to her website, and I'm waiting for a reply from her. If she's a friendly person, maybe I can even ask her more questions. Right now I'm trying to get her to clarify some things for the FFXIII translation though...

AHEM! That's besides the point, yeah, I knew I read if from your translation. Shotgun Guy was probably poking his head around corners and sneaking around the place or something. And if there was people he was probably touching them... Somehow I can see that happening...

I totally missed it if he has met Veruko. o.o In that case, a lot of my thinking has been disrupted, but that would probably mean that that scene was from WAY far back, before Veruko and the protagonist became enemies.

Regardless if we can't see all the connections just yet, we know this much, the "crystal" ties everything together. As I said before all the characters back stories and the main story as well all branch off from the issuses surrounding the crystal. And until we know more about the crystal I doubt will be able to put anything together conclusively.

So, maybe the crystal does tie everything together, is it because it follows the myth they've created for the game? Perhaps Nomura and co are using Hamlet and the myth to help the story progress. Also, all you say is true, but we're just speculating so it's kind of hard to put anything together at all.

The other Japanese in the Versus/FFXIII entry says: "相変わらずうろ覚えでキャラデザを描いてみました。2秒しか出なかったキャラを完璧に描くことができません ので、そこをなんとかご了承をお願いします。" I'm trying to draw these from mere memory. Some of the characters didn't get but two seconds of screentime, so I couldn't draw them perfectly, so please be understanding."

Ummm... Well, there's the prince, Veruko, Shotgun Guy, Glasses Guy, Big Foot (I call the guy that headlocks Shotgun Guy that for lack thereof a better name), robed guy, and I think that it's because the soldiers can't really be considered a character. Oh, wait... The mafia group, too. And we don't know how many are actually in there so... Minus the mafia group and the soldiers, so it looks like six.

Do you think that game has so many MEN on it? Veruko girl is the only girl I know! O.o

Haha, that may be true, but look at FFXIII. There's only been one guy in there, Mr. 33cm. So, FFXIII Versus is dominant in males while FFXIII is dominant in women. So, it makes up for it. Plus, Nomura is biased! Or just loves men.

Yeah, Miss Kanae is amazing. She also had help from a few people who fleshed in some details for her, so it wasn't all just from her memory. I know she had at least two people help her. ^_^

I got a reply from her today! So that means I can ask her questions and get my translations revised and fleshed out. So far for Versus I will be asking her to:

1. Flesh out in more detail the physical workings of the smoking building scene. How big is the fire? Where, exactly, are the protagonist and company standing while watching the fire? What is she talking about with the roofs?

2. Clarify for me who turns around and looks where in the car scene with the protagonist and the others.

3. Tell me if Veruko meets anyone except for the protagonist.

4. Describe any townsfolk/bystanders.

5. Read a recap in Japanese that I wrote of the review she wrote, to confirm that I'm understanding everything correctly.

Anything else we need or want? I can't guarantee that we'll get answers, but she seems like the extremely helpful type.

Other than that... I don't think there is anything else that needs clarification. Though, that's probably because I think I'm more interested -cougbiasedcough- in Versus xD

Aha... Special relationship...

It's pupucachi! :P. I hope she is not his girlfriend <_<

I know it is. That's why I edited it and wrote "I can't spell" T_T lol.

I'm sorry. I am a featherbrain. All I'm good for is translating, lol, not remembering things or saying smart things. :cunning:

And I hope she is not his girlfriend either. >.> I think if she was, that aspect would take over the whole story. I want to see lots of different story threads.

Oh, you are not a featherbrain! And you are not only good for translating! It's fun to talk to you about stuff (lol Versus)! And hey, there's a lotta info... It's hard to remember everything! xD Let's just hope they'll give us more next year.

I already replied to this, but I missed the last part of your comment. Well, I don't really want her to be the prince's girlfriend either, but I think it would've been good if they were engaged and the prince broke it off. Just my wild imagination and it probably isn't possible at all, but it adds a little spice. :P

Haha, ain't that the truth?

Engage? NOOOOO WAYYYY! XP

Maiya
Dec 28 2007, 06:35 AM
Yes! Engage! But then he could break it off because he doesn't really love her!!! That'd be a nice little story, but haha doubt it'll happen... Doesn't they mean they have to love each other though. Could be you know, the engage/marriage to a person of your same status. Love really doesn't always have to do anything with marriages or engagements. Breaking them off maybe.

You guys are hilarous, but me too XD

I'm pretty sure he already said no love story, so I think we're pretty safe.

I know you don't want him to have her as a girlfriend because you'd be jealous!! D: Just kidding ^_^

Haha, that's what he said alright, but he never said they could've broken up beforehand! Aha! A paradox!

Anyway, exactly! I'd be jealous! Haha, but if he did end up with a girl... I hope she's somewhat like Lightning, someone who can fight and isn't too girly.

Fine.... I'm jealous . She shouldn't be too girly, so the Prince doesn't have to save her everytime! :shifty:

I wonder what the game'll be whenn it's released? It's not like any FF games before. Don't you think that the characters' clothes is just so... simple? And the girls (in both games)... they all wear skirt =.=! How can they fight? "This is a fantasy based on reality". How real can it be? Now even the soliders use gun, while they're still wearing those heavy armors..., and the cars. Oh c'mon! FFXII looks like Star Wars, and what does this game look like....? I'm confusing now. Nomura, I need ur answer right now!!!! Z___z... That's what I think... Hope u guys don't get mad ^^. Maybe it'll bring new experience...

Well, that's the reason why we're speculating... I think. To find out what it will be like. Hey! I like the simple clothing! Makes it seem more realistic if you ask me, but you know the clothing is only temporary design. However, I hope they keep the prince's clothing. Not very prince like, but very fitting for him.

Well, Lightning's skirt, at first glance I thought they were shorts and they look like they don't really show anything so I'm fine with her skirt. It looks good too. -thumbs up- As for Veruko's clothing... I like her clothing, too! WTH NOMURA! Damn you and your awesome designs no matter what they are! But I shall always love you. Anyway...

It seems that maybe Veruko doesn't have to move around a lot... If she does keep the skirt they'll probably make it so the frills cover any inappropriate body parts.

Also, it's a fantasy based on reality. It's supposed to be realistic in some ways, but still contain fantasy... I mean a fantasy can only be so real if you know what I mean? At my first look at the Versus trailer, I was like 'what the crap?' this is nothing like a realistic game, but then again I think Nomura's focusing more on real emotions than actually items, such as the car or the soldiers clothing/armor.

Haha, why would I get mad?

Anyway, I'm pretty sure it will give us a new experience. I'm anticipating a LOT for this game. So, I hope Nomura will make this one heck of a game for all of us. Let's hope it has a big impact like FFVII, heck, if it had an impact like KH for me I'll be satisfied.

Pupucachi, try editing instead of double posting... I think you can get banned for double posting and some people get really ticked because of it.

Haha. I love his clothing, too. But I think they altered it a bit. On his shoulders there are these weird designs that I swear I didn't see before in the first. It kind of throws me off.

Yeah.. Poor guy, he's shorter than everyone... Seems like someone didn't drink his milk when he was younger.

No problem. It's my first, too. The only reason I knew was because I spotted that someone had also doubled posted and a forum member advised the guy to use the edit button. But this is off topic, if the prince's clothing were to change, what do you think it'd look like?

Ahahaha! I tried to imagine the prince in his boxers once... I couldn't do it. It was just so hard.

Ummm... Well, I guess... Maybe some armor? LOL. I don't think it matters if he wore armor or not. His swords would deflect any attacks anyway. But, I guess like shoulder guards/pads and well... Gee... Nothing else seems to work with that hair of his...

pupucachi

I don't want him to look like those soliders... The armor only causes him trouble... And besides, with his skills, it's no need to have a armor :D

Well, it could just be for show. Egh... I really don't know what would work well for him... A school uniform? xD Yeah, I'll try to design him some clothing or SOMETHING. I hope that Nomura just keeps his design though, it's really nice and I think some people might dislike the new design if the prince is given one.

When will the newest trailer be shown in US? I think it will be a while. Talk about characters' outfit, What do you think about the others beside the Prince? We already had the fanarts

Maiya
Dec 28 2007, 02:35 PM
Um... Don't know... I really like Shotgun Guy's clothing. I mean it's simply, but then again what do you expect from a 'refugee' supposedly? I think I'll draw down a design for them and post it or something/show you sometime? That sound good? I think it's easier to show with a visual than to describe. As, for robed guy... I think he needs new clothing, he probably will get one, but we don't even know what his face looks like so...

As for Veruko, wth I like her outfit the way it is. But Nomura is focusing way to much on Black and White. Like the only other colors there are is, blue and brown. Brown jacket on Shotgun guy and blue in the scenery and that's just the scenery.

Geh... Well, we have recieved fanarts of Big Foot and Glasses Guy... But I can't think of any outfits for them. They look weird. Lawl, I am mean.

Haha, well I posted a thread in the design place, so if you wanna see what my style is like check it out -has horrible artwork -sobs-- Anyway, what do you think about their designs? Or what do you think they should be changed too? Also, what do you think all of their personalities are like? Kind of wanted to discuss that for a while now. That and what the main character is like, we really don't know what he's actually like. Cept for maybe a quiet killer.
