New CLOUD Final Fantasy XIII and Versus Trailers Released [Archive]

The new trailers for both Final Fantasy XIII and Final Fantasy Versus XIII we were hoping for have been released to the public on the CLOUD DVD in Japan. These are the first trailers for any games in the Fabula Nova Crystallis compilation the public has seen since last December thanks to Square-Enix's Closed Mega Theater. Now they've been ripped and are available for download.

I'm downloading the trailers right now after having watched them at Gametrailers.com in Standard Quality. You guys are going to upload yours in HD later right? I plan to download this on my PS3 when you do...

It's a DVD. There is no HD version. We don't have any HD FFXIII trailers :/

lol in versus though i had a problem when the guy broke the soldiers neck :S
but when he swaps between weapons when he begins to fights makes up for it.

No, you're thinking of HD which has loads more pixels and is therefore bigger than DVD quality. These trailers are DVD... trust me. ;)

They didn't load for me, unless it takes long to load and i didn't wait long enough, but not to worry i manageded to see them on gametrailers. They were the coolest trailers ever, but i will save my opinions on them for other threads.

For anyone having trouble with the links Dante posted, both videos have now been uploaded to Stage6. I don't know how they compare to those videos (I haven't downloaded them because my internet is being slow and useless right now), but the quality is vastly superior to the versions from Youtube and Gametrailers.

You need to convert them to MPEG-4 files.
AVI file's don't work on a PS3.

If you wanted to convert them, i suggest using Xilisoft Video Converter.
But you need a Keygen, as when you convert the files for a PS3 720p or 1080p it takes well over 5 minutes, and unfortunatly the Converter constricts you to only 5 minutes converting time for each file.

I have a keygen which i can upload if you wish to use it.

Why was I not amused? Did like a little Behemoth romp except for her ball backflip recoil thing in FFXIII. The Soldiers aim are horrific, like Crisis Core bad in the vXIII trailer. Though the weapons appearing later on to just reflect their bullets in their face doesn't help. Glad i have them (or at least most of what they wanted to show) now.

EDIT: the necksnap did come off nicely

Delicious! AHAHAHAHAHA!

I was okay with the neck pwnage lol. The only quirk I found was one of the moments when he was teleporting down the building. When he threw the sword into another part of the building in order to teleport himself - that just broke the flow! It felt out of rhythm and messy. I think it would have been smoother if he threw it, teleported to it before having it land into the building, and somehow twisted his body to continue his rampage lol.

The expressions of Lightning - like the one Cathryn posted above - are kind of quirky, cartoony. I'd say Final Fantasy X had the best facial expressions. Eh...I'm happy :D

On the statues yea, i compared it to the orginal and they've changed it xD.

EDIT: Had to slow it down because you get around 1/4 of a second look at his eye.

Im making a few of these just to prove a point, basically, the trailers are fast to piss us all off.... so I slowed them down mwuhahahaha. Maybe you're right about Ifrit. He is transforming from(/into) a vehicle, and taking the robotic look and transformation the the Shiva sisters, it's not unlikely. The monster is both bipedal and quadrupedal, much like Ifrit of FFX, and his horns sort of reminds of his earlier incarnations.

And yes, it would look like the statues are crying blood. I just took it for a minor symbolic thing and didn't think too much about it...

I'm currently uploading MP3 files from both CLOUD Trailers.
I also have HQ 480x272 (pixel scale of the PSP's screen) PSP Trailers which im compressing into ZIP folders at the moment, only because the THM files must go along with the video itself to work on the PSP.

As far as i know, Kitmitsu has my 720p of the FFvsXIII CLOUD Trailer, but not of the FFXIII Trailer because everybody seems to have problems in converting it, so its better to wait until tomorrow when my DVD should come, so i can Rip and Convert them to hopefully either 720p or 1080p.

I see no collateral damage to the buildings or road from a battle, do you?

firstly he wakes up, then the battle scence happend, then he met this skirt girl (enemy?) after battle (?) with her he travel in car, a listening the city news about the war.

OH MY GOD. Those were some awesome trailers. I feel sorry for anyone who doesn't have a PS3. THe game is just ridiculous (by that I mean awesome, again.).
I espeically like the FF13 trailer, because I have a better assumption of what Lightning's personality is like.

I love the Versus trailer cuz it's frickin cool but I think I like the XIII trailer better since I feel like I'm actually seeing footage that's gonna be in the game, rather than just a specially made teaser trailer.

Most of the trailer I can tell the difference between the FMV's and the ingame footage, but that bit at the end where she's holding the gun looking at the soldiers I really can't tell which it is :w00t:

It was. THe gameplay was tied in nicely to the actual CG. I liked the part, where after she uses the graviation bomb, makes all the soldiers spin around her.

Well. They might be backed up on the fact that the gameplay that was used in the new trailer was used from the old trailer. And SE said that the gameplay from the old trailer wasn't made using the White Engine.
NOw, the thing is, it's possible to make some gameplay without the actual White Engine, but if people are that boneheaded to not be able to distinguish between the two, they're not smart enought to be considered human.

I remember hearing that about the first E3 trailer in 2006.Yeah you are confusing things XD They didn't use the engine while they were still planning it for the PS2, but once they migrated the project to PS3 they started using it and made the trailers with it.

Yeah I can tell the difference in some parts, but the transition is reaaaally smooth this time. I probably do confuse it in some parts (except the obvious ones, like the battle scene).

I think they would use CG for the really epic, intense and fast-paced scenes, and also for introducing new characters. They might not need to with the new engine, but I think it's another Final Fantasy tradition to have FMV's for epic scenes that you look forward to watching.

Well it was a bit lame calling them HD trailers when all they are is upscaled 480p trailers. Both very different things.

Well I wouldn't have thought they would just use CG in the trailers :P They'd have to include it. It's the Final Fantasy way! Just like Rade says, everyone enjoys CG FMVs.

No, they resized the 480p version of the trailer (the one on the front page) into a higher resolution (720 and 1080p) and then called it HD when they're only in HD resolutions, not quality. ;)

Exactly lol. Even if they managed to get the real-time ingame graphics and the pre-rendered CG cutscenes to look nearly the same, they would still put in the CG scenes because it's just something every FF game has. It's probably my favourite thing about FF aside from the stories; just looking forward to and finally seeing a CG cutscene where something really epic happens. I feel like I'm being rewarded for getting to this point in the game.

CG = Computer Graphic's
FMV = Full Motion Video

It's preety much when the two intertwine.
CG Is a more Detailed 3D video. Such as the Full Motion Videos in FFX.
Rather than Game-play Cutscenes, Square has this thing of making CG Cutscenes which are hawt. :cunning:

I'm still skimming my copy of Cloud, but I went through the FFXIII pages fast to see if there was any mention of Mr. 33cm's name somewhere.

Unless they're hiding it, his name appeareth not. Sorry. :(

In the section devoted to him, they use "him" "him" "him" over and over, and mention no other names unless his is unbracketed and in kanji (pretty rare for Square. I can't think of any).

I'm also doubting that the Versus protagonist's name will appear. :'(

The name "Neku" appears to be the protagonist of "It's a Wonderful World." "Joshua," "Beat" and "Shiki" appear to be his partners...? I don't see Rhyme's name right away, but I would assume it belongs with the others in It's a Wonderful World since it is near them on the back cover and the game looks like it's probably music related somehow. I don't know where Hanekoma's name is. Aya is from a different game called "The Third Birthday," I think. And is a girl's name anyway.

I'm not sure if it's obvious or not, but this book was not made by Square-Enix. It was made by MediaWorks with Square-Enix's (probably bought) permission. It makes me kind of think there may not be a lot of new information here.

I see, I see. I just figured out it wasn't a Final Fantasy and basically moved onto the next page. I don't know what Parasite Eve is. Apparently "The 3rd Birthday" looks like a new game for that series.

In other news, the book is calling FFXIII the "White Legend," FFvsXIII the "Colorless Legend," and Agito the "Legend of Guidance," possibly the "Guiding Legend." I don't know where this comes from.

I'm trying to use Photobucket to upload the image, but Photobucket is not helping me... is there a better way to put an image up on the forum? =( Also, please tell me if I'm doing this in the wrong part of the forum or in the wrong way. I am Information-Sharing Newbness incarnate. >.<; Is there already a translator working on Cloud Vol. 1?

Yay. Does that mean that you guys can read the words alright? Photobucket made the darn image smaller, so I wasn't sure if they were readable.

If anyone has specific questions about the articles, like do they talk about ______ or do they mention ______, I can try to answer them. I really enjoy article translation, but I am like Slowga level infinite to get a whole article done.

Hurrah. Page two done (sort of). Please remember that these are ROUGH translations, as in they may or may not have mistakes. I will try to go back and do a really thorough workthrough for grammatical booboos and misreading, but at least they can tell you what the article is about. Also, if there are factual errors(spelling or quotes, etc), please let me know so I can re-read and see what stupid thing I did.

The book really doesn't appear to have much new information though, even though this is just the introduction to the full article. It appears to be concentrating on speculative and sensational commentary as opposed to new information. Page 2:

Glad I can help. I've mooched information my whole life, so now that I have some amount of useful skill, I'm happy when I can put it to use. There is some information about "The 3rd Birthday" floating around the internet on Japanese sites, but I haven't read any of it since I don't know the series. There doesn't seem to be a lot, though. It appears that "The 3rd Birthday" might be a backstory installment for the series, but I don't really know. I'm actually not entirely sure that it's a game, but the article keeps going "Player" "Player" "Game," so I assume it must be. I can give translating that page a try after I finish out the Fabula Nova Crystalis information if you like. I don't see any mention of a trailer, so there may just be those few images released and nothing else.

In other news, I'm almost positive we've seen most/all of the information in the Versus section before. The information seems to only be coming from the trailer that was released with the book, and not from the newest trailer that hasn't been released. *depressed* I still want to give a full and shiny translation though.

Parasite Eve is a great horror series, i suggest you play 1 and 2, they are both amazing games with a great storyline, they where one of the first Playstation games i owned.
I'm not sure what system the 3rd Birthday is actually on, but i think it's on a mobile.

I totally lied. Here are the next two pages of the Versus article. Some of the descriptive mechanics, I'm not sure about. The sentence about the protagonist with his arm over his comrade's shoulder isn't telling me whose arm is around whose shoulder and who's being buddy buddy with who so well... Also, this guy is either not being very careful about scene order or the trailer really is that weird. ^^;

Putting the second page in a separate post >.<; Sorry. I just think it will be easier to upload. I'm already having problems with getting just one picture in here ~.~;

Yeah... like I said, I was a bit confused about the mechanics of the scene, since the guy who wrote it seems more interested in the feelings he got from the trailers than in precise reporting. I wish I had seen the trailer, but of course if the trailer had been released, that would make everything so much easier. =.=;

Yeah, there really wasn't anything amazing and special in it. My only hope is that the 7th page actually has something interesting, but I doubt it. It's going to be the guy's thoughts on what's to come for Versus. ~_~

The section on the designs for Advent Children was more enlightening. I think I read that Sephiroth's boots are bondage boots inspired by Goth Music fashion. Tee hee.

I feel like at least we got someone else's opinion who has seen the trailers, though, even if the guy seems a little overexcited about being confused. :rolleyes:

The book makes a nice summary of the things that have been said and shown over the past months, I guess, for anyone who wasn't paying attention at the start of the hype (guilty). I hadn't heard about the reason for the Versus name before, although I bet a lot of the people who frequent the forum probably had.

Self-taught is cooler than natives cuz it means u had 100x the brains to figure out the grammar. LOL

Japanese written grammar isn't super hard. I crash and burn in real conversation though ^^;

Yeah the PS3 has a Cell Processor which basically means it has one chip with the power of a couple or more processors. I think :cookie:

I don't really know personally. Kitmitsu mentioned it to me once and I read it somewhere. The 7800 (I think) in the PS3 shouldn't limit it when games need more if it has the cell.

Heya guys. Sorry... between no sleep in 2 days, packing and airplanes, I haven't gotten much done. ^^;

I'll finish page 7 sometime tonight hopefully, but here's the general idea of the first 3 expectations.

His first expectation is that he has no expectations. Well, basically. ^^; He also seems to be implying that he thinks Versus will be an incredible oportunity for the PS3 to show its stuff graphically.

His second expectation is that the game will play with the idea of perception(?) I'll have to look at this one again...

His third expectation is that Versus will expand the battlefield vertically as opposed to horizontally.

The second page isn't as long, so I want to finish both tonight. We'll see...
