Why are colleges, schools and maybe uni's full of the same moronic computer illiterate teachers. Teachers who look at your screen and go "OMG HE IS ON GOOGLE = THE INTERNET = BAD THUS BLOCK WITH THIS INNOVATIVE SOFTWARE THAT THE HEAD COLLEGE TECH GUY GAVE ME...HAHA TAKE THAT STUDENT I HAVE DISALLOWED YOU ACCESS TO A WEB BROWSER (btw if you rename the program it works...what sort of useless program JUST blocks the program name, i renamed my Firefox Portable which was getting blocked to explorer.exe so if they blocked it my computer would break) WITHOUT REALISING THAT WITHOUT THE INTERNET (It blocks IE as well at the same time) YOU CANNOT DO THE WORK THUS RENDERING YOUR TIME AND MY TIME IN THIS ROOM USELESS!!! HAHA I AM SMART AND YOU ARE DUMB.

Ive now spent 6 whole ICT lessons sitting there doing nothing/annoying the teacher by laughing because of this shit and i sit next to some weird person who constantly tells me what temperature it is in the room and what temperature it is in america...by guessing.

Btw one of those ICT lessons i "probably" deserved altho its not really a punishment because the teacher is shite so we spent (everyone) the whole lessons printing crap off, i printed off 50 pages of Spock (Star Trek) and then the printer broke.

Screw that, the only thing we can do is basically use Proxy sites, which obviously get blocked the next day. So everybody goes mad and searches for another, fuck that, i have an endless supply of them >D.

My school had possibly the most anal filtering system in the world. Trying to find a picture of Jesus for an RE assignment - the website was blocked under 'pornography' (presumably because Jesus was partially naked while being crucified); couldn't do any assignments for music because all the sites were blocked for various reasons, the most strange being "Arts", because God forbid young minds get involved in the arts. Everyone knows that arts are a gateway to larger crimes such as culture and civilisation!

Ironically the only two sites you could reliably access were Google (which was useless because all of its results were blocked) and Wikipedia, that paragon of reliability.

Then youtube got blocked my senior year, and I've known about it since my freshmen year then it got popular and that resulted in blockage

They aren't that strict about web filtering in my college; we're allowed to use Google images and we can access Youtube.

They do a good job of filtering games websites though, they even block pages that are about games and don't even feature a game you can play for example: this forum is more than likely blocked at my college because it's a Final Fantasy forum and Final Fantasy is a game.

its more then likely that your school/college are using LAN software to block websites which usually only work with Internet Explorer.

Put that on a memory stick and run it from the memory stick.

My school only started blocking small stuff at the near of of last year. This year, the Department of Education itself took action and is in control of whatever sites the NSW schools students visit.

Most are very ridiculous since reports are usually needed, and when you find a useful website it's classified as "Personal Pages."

Just google for a proxy server to browse the web. I use to use them when i wanted to play games and all that stuff.

May as well test it out if you do indeed need the net that much.

You can't get on google at all in my school. And you can't even look up an image for a project. You have to get on clip art. -_- The only thing you can get on is the county's home page and look up things from there, with a teacher's approvement. :(
