I never liked any Wild Arms game I ever played. I buy them because I can (and western is a rarity) but not because they are good.

How is it bad? Bad story and characters? gameplay?

Well, I know that Wild Arms 4 is not what I thought it was going to be. It was a big disappointment but the story was okay. The gameplay was nothing like the previous Wild Arms(which I liked). The characters were all like "grown-ups suck" and personally that got a little old throughout the entire game. I didn't like the side scrolling and the battles were different(a 7 hex battlefield was used instead of the actual turned-based battles that I liked). You don't get to explore the world map. You get to go from Point A to Point B. The badge attachments were annoying. Overall if I had to rate "Wild Arms 4" out of 10, I would say 4 out of 10. Don't get me wrong, there were things that I did like about the game, but the negative outweigh the positive. :/

Now Wild Arms 5 is a huge improvement but it still has a lot of elements from Wild Arms 4. The battles have the 7 hexes and you still collect and equip badges but instead of moving as an arrow on the map(you still do a little of that) you get to explore the world map. The characters were soooo much better, IMO. They seemed to have more personality than those in WA4. I also loved the story even though it was a bit angsty and complicated. I would give WA5 a 7 out of 10.

I would suggest that you at least give WA4 and WA5 a try, though. You may like what other people don't. If your still torn between the two, you could always just rent them. ^^;

Thanks for the summary Alice,
i,ll get WA5 as soon as its out in my area. i'm intersted to know what the hex battle system will play like and as long as the sory is good is should enjoy it. As for WA4, my bro went the game shop but found it wasn't there so i'll have to look in another store next time i have money.

I downloaded Wild Arms 1 off the PS Store. I've barely played it so far, but I plan to...

Grab Wild Arms: Alter Code F and Wild Arms 5. Those two stand out by far the best games of the series.

If you love western type games, then grab them all since they all got a average of about 7/10.

You also missed Wild Arms XF which is what I am currently playing on my PSP and loving it. :wub:

What i meant to say is if you are new to the series then grab Alter Code F. the dialogue has been rewritten, a lot more optional quests, rendered them from 2D to 3D models.

People care a lot about graphics these days so that adds to my assessment. If you don't care about the aforementioned, then grab the original Wild Arms 1

Not sure if i am missing anything, but that would be my reasons for newcomers to play that version.
