Can the PS3 be kept on? I've heard that some people keep it on for a week and one person has kept it on for 2 months. Just wanted to know because I don't want it busting up on me because I didn't know how long to keep it on/off.

Well, I'm not too sure how long a PS3 can be kept on. I only leave mine on for 5 hours at most, then turn it off. I'm sure it can be kept on for at least a day, since the PS3's cooling system, is what Sony put their heart and soul into besides the Cell. But, then again, the insides could melt and who knows what'll come out.
My advice: Don't try it, unless you're rich and can afford another PS3.

HA! I kept mine on for two days.:P

I forgot to turn it off before I went to bed and had had it on that whole day and had school the NEXT day so it added up to two days.

I've had it on for a full week before and the temperature barely changed throughout.

If your not using it you can keep it on forever as it won't overheat at all.

My PS3 has been left for weeks and works perfectly. Runs folding for the most of the time.

I've never left mine on for as long as a week but I did make the mistake of putting it in a cabinet overnight. It sounded like it was about to blow up :P.

IT does get warm pretty fast though doesn't it? You can feel warmth at the back where the power cable is connected, and right under the disk tray. That's normal right?

Yeah. It doesn't or shouldn't get that hot. I found it got hottest lying on its side, and mine is standing up, so D:

I leave mine on constantly, and the temperature and the PS3 has been fine, so i wouldn't say there is any reason TO turn it off.

I hope you all have a power surge protector thingy so your PS3 won't be fried in a thunderstorm.

I'm so limited in playing my PS3 so I can't keep it on for long anyways. I'd be lucky to be even able to leave it on for half a day.

I have no idea, but I want to brag about how my dad keeps it on forever. He never turns the thing off.

If your room it quite hot then it won't cool down that well, i have it in the coldest room in the house (near the garage so all the cold air from winter gets thrown in, it gets fucking freezing in here) and i can elave it on for ages. I haven't had it heat up on me yet at all.

Even in a normal temperature room i can leave it on for ages.
