Since it was confirmed that this game is coming out in 2008 in Japan, and the TGS trailer had English voice acting, do you think this game is getting released in 2008 outside of Japan too?

Ummm, a 2008 release date hasn't actually been confirmed or even suggested by Square. It's just many peoples prediction. Also the TGS trailer didn't have English voice acting. It just had a very Engrish narration by a Japanese woman.

The simultaneous release date was suggested by Square's president of America and Europe but it was only an idea. They were also very vague about whether it was a worldwide release or just an American and Japanese one which is most likely.

Unless the English version is being made along-side the Japanese version I seriously doubt a simultaneous release. Localisation takes a very long time with final fantasies - especially with the new entries into the series.

It's most likely going to be around the same time as RESI 5, a 2009 bench mark isn't really that optimistic, think how much they are physically working with all that Programming and super sexy textures, hopefully the 'supposed' Real-Time render shall be a reality.
I'm defiantly setting my hopes high because it will be a visually stunning game (hopefully D;)

Sidderz: Importing is good, :cunning: even though i imported Crisis Core and i don't understand hardly and Japanese, i enjoyed the game, but if Square are setting for a Jap/American simultaneous release then importing from America would be a good idea. I'll most likely do the same if we have to hold on another 5-9 months just so they can sort out the language barriers which are ridiculously wide around Europe. CURSE OUR STUPID ARRAY OF LANGUAGES!

I think its going out in 2008 because I they are focusing more on it than Kingdom Hearts. I heard that it will be released in the early part of 2008. Has anyone confirmed this? Am not really sure about the Jan 1 release. But they said early in 2008.

But now with the PS3 being region free, wouldn't you have thought they would place the UK along with America and Japan, considering America and England are virtually the same apart from a few grammer differences American and UK games don't or hardly ever differ.
I know America and Japan are large regions and are great to release games from, but aren't the UK a large region as well, ok we live on a separate island which is around 2 times smaller, but we still have a large gaming community.
I just can't understand why they wouldn't consider this, because i don't want to be paying an import tax (if necessary) just so i can have a game a few months earlier which will be exactly the same when released in the UK.

They're guessing on that, there's no way they could possibly know that unless they kidnapped some high ranking SE official and held him ransom for the release date then didn't hype it at all. If Gamestop really had the release date they'd have announced the fact that they did and it would've rung out through all the internet, but they didn't so they probably don't have it and aren't announcing it because it would damage their reputation and reliability if they announced something they made up.

They did that to me with LoZ:Twilight Princess. I reserved it around Christmas time one year and the next year (and a few months later) I finally got the game... Gamestop told me it would be out 6 months from then and it ended up coming out a year+ later. They were told the wrong release dates as well.

Shopping sites usually put up release dates for big titles based on their own predictions so don't believe anything that's not from the company's own new releases or news given by them. The sites can capture sales this way since most people won't mind pre ordering to get priority shipping. The thing is this also caused people to think that the game companies are delaying games when they are not.An example would be FFXII's. The ever changing release dates on shopping sites caused people to think that SE delayed the game numerous times when they only delayed it once.

FF XIII that coming 2008 may be the Japaneses version. so it maybe later that the english version come out.

Well if you understand how square enix have been doing their work you know (always late and like to postpone the release)

It's definitely not coming out in 2008. But, it'll come out in 2009...it has to. Any longer, it'll do more harm than good.

I think it's not that she's not the main character I believe she is since they wanted the designer to create a female version of cloud and cloud was the main character no? But I think because usually the main character is all for good and is very selfless(altruistic) and I think the fact is they want to make a story that's fresh and new where the main character may not have good intentions in mind. I think this could possibly be interesting because we're so used to being all good if it isn't so selfless maybe it'll be more real to human beings? I don't know this is just my opinion of what it MIGHT mean, but then again there are endless possibilities.

Nooo thats wrong, they've misinterpreted the article. You wont know if Lightning is doing the right thing leading the rebel faction until a certain point in the game.

2008 release is makes me extremely skeptical.

I also think a simultaneous release is a very optimistic view -- I do not feel that a 2008 world wide release would leave us with the best possible Final Fantasy experience imaginable. Q2 2009 is my guess, for now. Sorry to be the persistent birdshit on the windshield, but I'm still scorning Squenix for FFXII.

Kojima Productions headache of WWR and the number of delays are enough evidence to back my skepticism up.
