My dilemma....

So this Christmas i am going to get another next gen system(I already have the wii) and i can't seem to decide between the 360 or the PS3. I'm obviously a fan of final fantasy so ff13 is a big priority...so that swings me towards the PS3. But it seems that all the good games are coming out for the 360 now... what are your suggestions?

If you will still be able to buy a PS3 before FFXIII of FFVXIII comes out, I would go for the 360, if not, go for the PS3.

If you have the patience to wait for the good PS3 games to come, then get the PS3. Plus the PS3 is always getting upgrades...and it's wireless, so as long as you have a wireless router, you can access the internet and play online...unlike the 360(you need a cable). Once the XIII series and MGS comes out, the PS3 will be the best system on the market. So I suggest you invest in a PS3.

PlayStation 3, by the start of 2008 - you'll be hearing MGS4's official release date sometime between January-March(i hope so).

There are a few selected games coming out during October to December, but 2008 will really be the defining time for the PS3. If you can't wait get a 360 to compensate until FFXIII and FFvsXIII.

This is the kind of question you cant ask and expect a non-bias opinion...but heres mine-you want a game system, buy the 360, next christmas, buy the ps3, and your set

you know the most games are coming out on the 360 this year, and by the end of next year the PS3 should be viable, and FF13 shouldn't be too far away, so it makes sense. My advice is to look at the games releasing this year and next on both (and allready released), and the price, pros-and cons of both and make your own decision

Nah I disagree. The PS3 has amazing games coming out before 2008. E.g. this which im definitely buying: Uncharted, Ratchet and Clank, Haze, Unreal Tournament 3, GT5 (if thats this year anymore?)... thats all I can think of off the top of my head, but 4 great games is enough to last me until MGS4 comes out, I hope. :p Theres also a few good games out for PS3 now as well.

Yeah, he's right. I say PS3 because its what I got and theres loads of games im personally looking forward to. Xbox 360 this year now LO has been delayed doesnt interest me much, but people are going crazy over Mass Effect and PGR4, so in the end its down to the kind of games you like. :P

It all starts in October for the PS3. Believe me 2008 will be the year of the PS3. I'd go for the PS3 myself. Mass Effect is the only game I'm looking forward too on the 360. Completely your choice though.

To be honest, and this is completely up to anyones opinion, but what exactly makes 2008 the year of the PS3? if you ask me, 2008 is the year the PS3 comes into its own, not dominates the industry. Both the 360 with (Alan Wake, Ninja Gaiden 2, Lost Odyssey, Too Human ext) and the PS3 with (Killzone 2, Little Big Planet, MGS4, Gran Turismo 5 ext) have strong exclusive games coming out, so i dont think the PS3 will start to dominate , but more start to be where it should, and show more promise for the future. I hope i didnt sound "Fanboytastic" just laying that out there.

Regardless, For any gamer who is looking to purchase a console for gaming this Christmas, 360 should be their choice this year (since its at its strongest now) and PS3 next year (since it should be at its strongest then) it makes sense to go for what is good now, not buy something because it may or will be better later, when you can get whats good now and whats better later, later.

I agree, the 360 just released its huge game, Halo 3, and the PS3 has a long time to go before XIII or VXIII releases, thats when it will most likely dominate.

Its just that some of the games that made people buy the PS3 are coming out in 2008, that DOES NOT mean that it will dominate the market by any means.

I never said it would dominate the industry, and to be honest I'm not sure if it ever will but I meant it will have the best lineup of games compared to other consoles for my tastes. Most developers are holding off their games until 2008, when the install base is better, which will mean a blast of new games coming out.

Im glad you agree, exactly why the original poster should be getting the 360 this year, and PS3 next year advice from us here, instead of the "2008 is the year of the PS3" line, because he clearly states he is looking to buy THIS year not next, and that is exactly the whole Bias thing i mentioned in my first post. Let's be honest, weather you are a PS3 fanboy, or a 360 fanboy, as gamers we should all be honest and be able to give out the best advice, without it being based on our own personal preferences. :)
