During the first time I watched the trailer, I saw some comments about Lightning. They said SHE LOOKS LIKE A GUY! Looks like Cloud. I think Tesuya Nomura said something about her looking almost like Cloud. Seriously, does she really look like a guy?

I wouldn't say she looks like a guy but she doesn't look as girly as some of the other female characters in the series. Nomura's task was to design a female lead that would be an equivalent to Cloud with a strong personality and I think she turned out pretty well :P.

I think it's still full of pretty boys/girls. In fact, they look like humanoid extraterrestrials. Especially concerning the guys - Versus, and the Large Shoe Size Guy - they're both still implanted in the Caucasian/Westernized look with the Japanese feminine/bishounen ideal.

I think that's why I like FFX the most. The faces of those characters may look very attractive, but they're also unique and human. They aren't beautifully alien-esque like Cloud, Loz, Yazoo, Reno, Yuffie, "Storm", Vincent etc. Perhaps that might be the point, but then the overwhelmingly similar features - to me - make the characters less memorable.

Lightning looks better in the memorable case; her face is more unique and less alien-like. In Advent Children, the females' (and some males) faces could almost be swapped out for one another: they all had the big exaggerated eyes, round faces, softened cheek bones, small chins, petite noses, and flawlessly pale skin.

While I didn't like AC that much I actually like it's art style, it reminds me of Xenosaga and Star Ocean 3

But I agree that FFX was the best when it comes to character detail

Lightning has smaller eyes and thinner face but the texture almost the same. Actually my first impression with Lightning is that she almost looks like Ashe from FF12. The hair. Near the end I thought:" This doesn't look like Ashe. A new good looking character". Not that she really looks like Ashe

I was able to view the new trailer and she did look feminine but you know, I noticed some scenes wherein she does resemble a guy quite a bit. If I can recall the first trailer of the game, it ended wherein she pulled out her weapon and pointed it to the enemy then withdrawed it and made her stance at the same times the screen focuses on her face. That part of the trailer, she did look a bit quite a guy. In the the new trailer, we see her with her surrounded by her enemies. Well there I would say she is very feminine.
