*Sigh* Learning Japanese is harder than it looks. Does anybody know even a bit of it around here?

A: sounds like "ah" as in father
I: sounds like "ee" as in the 'i' in machine
U: sounds like "oo" as the ' u ' in flu
E: sounds like "eh" as in get or let
O: sounds like "oh" as the ' o ' in open or hope

I'm only trying to learn so i can read my japanese girl fashion magazines...i'm a guy but the mag is great.

I would never be able to read it. The book I have explains it a litle bit. But ...it was a cheap book, lets just say that.

I got a program online and i'm learning, it is hard. I haven't done it in a while, though, I keep meaning to.

This is a pretty good list. I had a japanese exchange student and she taught us very limited Japanese... the only problem I see with that list is that the Japanese language has no "r's". It sounds a bit more like an "L" with and "r" sound. I am not sure how to explain it. Say if their name was Ria; it would be pronounced "Leeay" but the "L" would be really soft and have a touch of "r" in it.

oh i speak really good japanese, i learned it way bak when i was fed up that i could only get some anime shows RAW, but i suk in trasalating between eng. and jap. and im not good at teaching it,
this list are some word or phases that i use in my everyday talking
gomennasai - excuse me
gomen - sorry
nani - what?
baka - idiot
doushite - why?
itadakimasu - a phase said before eating
i no A LOT more but those r the ones i use i everday

Good english list, but it's not working to well for me.
Example: In Norway we have i instead of e, so
Ri - ree = Ri - rii
And that can be a bit confusing. :huh:
And its other too. But a good list. I want to learn some Japanese in the future^_^
