I decided to make this thread since there isn't one yet.
I'm almost finished reading a book called "Cell: A Novel" by Stephen King, and IT IS AWESOME. Stephen King is a GOD. I read one of his old novels but didn't like it much, so I didn't have much hope for Cell, but it turned out to be one of the best books I have ever read. If you're look for a book, get this one. It goes pretty far in terms of describing gore.
Okay, the synopsis.
Basically, the main character, Clay, tries to survive in a world where humans who have been converted into murdurous psionic psychopaths by a phone signal rule. Zombie-esque, although the enemy is psychic, not completely mindless, and alive. And they don't eat brains.

... uh ionno... i like the lord of the rings, the fellowship of the ring. The fellowship has the largest amount details they left out in the movie, which makes it my favorite. also, if you have only seen the movie, arwen never actually took frodo to rivendale... she hardly had a role in the story at all! so basically the whole love scenes never existed and it was just a little thing they added:nag:
overall, the book was really good

I don't have a favorite book per say but my favorite series is the Halo books. They go into such detail into how the Spartans came to be and how they survive against thousands of covenant. No the cheesy 1 man vs 1,000,000,000,000 enemies. If you have not read them, you should.
I guess I will have to read The Cell too. I love King's books.

Books sucks, plain and simple. The only books I ever had a high interest in was the Harry Potter series and thats about it.

I like the Harry Potter series. I also like reading Dan Brown's books, such as The Da Vinci Code. I'm thinking about reading The Green Mile by Stephen King as well. The movie was awesome, so I plan on reading it.

Books only suck to people who lack the imagination to picture what's going on or can't understand what they're reading, and you seem like a perfectly able person when it comes to comprehending writing o_O.
Err, favorite books. I have a lot:
Lord of the Rings series (Tolkien), Harry Potter (Rowling), Day of the Triffids (John Wyndham), The Chrysalids (John Wyndham), Jurassic Park (Michael Crichton), Chronicles of Narnia (C.S. Lewis), Gone with the Wind (Margaret Mitchell), The Kitchen God's Wife (Amy Tan), Dune (Frank Herbert), The Iliad (Homer), Firebringer (David Clement-Davies).
Yes, I'm a lit freak.

Its hard to picture whats going on when the plot is ridiculously stupid and uninspiring.

I advise you stop reading those kind of books then. I don't really read fictional books at all anymore which I really regret. The last time I actually read a book all the way through was when I was 13, I think that was an Alex Rider book actually. All I read through now is the internet, magazines and strategy guides. Also, weren't Wheres Wally (Waldo) books amazing?

Read Halo: The Fall Of Reach. Trust me, even if you hate the game try out the book. It tells how the Spartans came to be. It is a really good book, very descriptive.

I read a bit of The Cell before, might finish it off.
Steven King is pure genius. End of.
My favorite books are the Malorie Blackman Triology of Noughts and Crosses.
The story is basically about how our socity worked a few years ago where blacks and whites where separated, yet it is in reverse, it tells like basis of Sephy (Personphone [however you spell it]...)
and Callum, Sephy is black and the daughter of the president of some sucky state and callum is white. Yes its a love story thing and it takes them through from when they are like 13 to 19 then Callum dies because he supposedly rapes Sephy. Yada.
At the moment im reading Life Of Pi by Yann Martel, the begining is stunning. The imagery at the start is brilliant :P

Yeah, I already read all 3. I tried Tolkien before, but I didn't like it for some reason. Besides hardcore fantasy(like dragons and elves and dwarves and stuff) isn't what I usually read.

The Lord of Chaos - Book Six of The Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan. Out of the entire series I liked this one the most. The things that happened to each of the characters, the massive event at the end of the book, all the little bits of stuff swirled in the middle and everything. I just loved it, the rest after are good too but this one was the best in my opinion. Plus it gave my favorite female character more showtime so I loved that too.
