The Bank Job. Trust me, DO NOT SEE THIS MOVIE. It is Jason Statham's worst performance ever. It fails in every aspect. It fails at being funny, there's hardly any action, and the romance is mediocre at best. The woman he ends up with is his wife, who gets about 2 minutes of screen time. :nag:

The ending is so meh. Out of the goodness of their hearts the police and MI5 decide to let three bank robbers walk off with all the loot, and even gives them legit passports and documents, and everything is completely solved and everyone's happy, and the wife doesn't even question whether Jason Statham slept with the other woman. wtf?

Also, the murdurs were too brutal to be sad and the characters they happen too were too familiar for it to be welcome. I mean my favorite chracter in the entire movie got knifed in the back after taking a shit. That's not cool. And another guy who's a porn star with a very large penis is shot execution style after his skin is peeled off by a sandblaster.

THIS MOVIE SUCKS.

Backstage
2005, France
Emmanuelle Seigner, Isild Le Besco

Ripped from imdb:

"An adolescent groupie (Isild Le Besco) zeroes in on her Blondie-like idol (Emmanuelle Seigner) after the singer chances to cross her orbit on a publicity tour. Gradually their lives intertwine as, with near-operatic intensity, the film delves into the emotional dependency on both sides of celebrity culture."

It was probably quite a few weeks ago when I saw it, and I was half-watching for most of it, unfortunately, and only started paying attention for the last half hour, or so. Regardless, it's stuck to me for all this time, and when people ask me for a good movie, I instantly suggest it. It's one of the most powerful films I've seen in the last few years, and most certainly one of the only good ones.

Although, I suppose a weakness lies in the whole "Oh, you're a bit tapped in the head, but I desperately need someone to love, so COME SLEEP NEXT TO ME, IN MY LARGE BED, AWAY FROM MY BODYGARDS!! ~~<3" thing, but... It's always better when they give themselves up willingly. :cookie:

Oh, and bitches loving other bitches is always a plus. 8D

It was good to finally have a break from all the crap I've been subjected to over the past few years... (Yes, I'm looking at you The Amityville Horror, Stealth, Kung Fu Hustle, Final Destination 3, Far And Away, everything else I've seen since 2005... Oh, except for Ghost in the Shell: S.A.C. Solid State Society... That's on my 'Good Things' shelf.)

Oh, and I watched Appleseed a few weeks back (I'm about four years too late, but whatever, it was on TV...), which was... all right, I suppose. Seemed a bit empty, particularly in the characters, but EX Machina looks like it's worth a viewing.

Crash (again). Still as good as ever. Possibly one of the most un-subtle films I've ever seen, but that doesn't bother me.

As for last film I watched for the first time, it was Ironman. Thought it was ok. I liked the characters, but for me the film always had a ceiling. By that I mean the film was limited because it had to show the relatively long "creation story" behind Ironman. If there is a sequel, I'd expect it to be better. With that cast and just the Ironman concept, they could make a great action movie.

I rarely do this but I saw Speed Racer a couple weeks ago. Fantastic movie, lots of style, and even keeps the feel of the old show at times. Great family time (if you can get over some of the language) and great for people that kind of like the show/eye candy. Much better anime movie than that abortion Casshern, I would put it up there with Storm Riders/Wind and Cloud.

Speed's a fucking winner. Those Cross Country races (like the show) were fucking hot and the last race makes my eye tear up with joy. Five races total so it isn't some bullshit race movie like The Fast and the Furious.

The parts where it looked like the first movie were stupid too. I saw the first movie, why put those parts in the 3rd one? rofl I hated that movie. The zombie things looked so cheap, and the acting was terrible.

Actually I might be thinking of a the Mist. Is it the one where the evil sailors want their gold back or something, so at the end they go into a church and give back this gold cross? :aldo:

You're talking about The Fog, for sure. The Mist was ok but predictable, but definitely not on the same level of terrible waste of time as The Fog, lol

It doesn't exactly count, but next week I'm going to see The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor. I'm a big fan of the first and second movies, and this third one looks to have some great CGI in it. Although, in the trailer I seen a 3-headed dragon, which looked nothing like the traditional Chinese dragons O_o
